He took a piece of beef jerky to Nicholas Croft’s lips, and Nicholas smiled gently, warmth in his lowered eyes.

"Go on, I don’t eat it,"

Sophie Foster didn’t say a word, just blinked, holding the beef jerky in front of Nicholas’s lips. Nicholas had no choice but to open his mouth and eat it.

On the day they registered their marriage, he had asked her to call him husband, but he never forced it again. Perhaps he had always selfishly liked being called "Uncle," which was Lara’s exclusive nickna for him.

The two were enjoying a sweet honeymoon in Thailand, unaware of the many things happening back ho in T City.

Henry Hargrave was sent to the hospital. Already suffering from high blood pressure, a head injury led to massive internal bleeding. Although he was saved in ti, it’s likely he’ll spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.

After spending a week in Thailand, Sophie finally went to a nightclub to see a drag show and rode on the back of an elephant for sightseeing. But what truly captivated her was the local cuisine.

Although Nicholas wasn’t very fond of Thai food, Sophie had a great appetite. Wherever they went, she’d buy street food to try.

Most of the food was tolerable for Nicholas, but one day, she insisted on trying fried insects!

Watching one insect after another roll in the oil, Nicholas resisted the urge to upturn the contents of his stomach, forcibly leading Sophie away.

Down the street a little way, Sophie unhappily shook off Nicholas’s big hand and stood glaring at him on the roadside.

Upset about not tasting the "delicacy," Sophie puffed out her cheeks and angrily stared at Nicholas, her sunglasses removed to express her anger.

Sighing, Nicholas relented, "Alright, go buy it, I’ll wait here, but let tell you, eat it before you co back, otherwise..."

"Or what!" Sophie asked defiantly, Nicholas sighed again, stepping forward and pulling the stubborn girl into his arms, "Don’t make it hard for Uncle, seeing them makes nauseous."

"You’re so dramatic!" Sophie muttered unhappily, freeing herself from Nicholas’s long arm and heading to the street stall with a smile.

Actually, she felt quite impulsive herself; she’d seen fried grasshoppers on TV before and found them disgusting, but today she felt an urge to try. Even she felt this impulse was unfathomable.

She bought a portion of fried grasshoppers, stood at the street stall, ate one, chewed slowly, felt nothing uncomfortable but rather enjoyed it, so she started devouring them. The small portion of insects was gone in no ti.

Back by Nicholas’s side, she was smiling brightly, took his arm and continued walking.

Having just eaten fried food, the breath she exhaled carried an insect scent. Nicholas discreetly raised his hand and placed his fingers against his lips, not out of disgust, but simply incapable of accepting it; just thinking about his wife eating insects left him with an indescribable sensation.

Seeing a drink store up ahead, Nicholas feigned exhaustion, suggesting they go in to take a break. Sophie gladly agreed, and after entering, ordered two large cups of juice.

After dinner outside, they returned to the hotel. Once inside the room, Sophie lay on the bed in a sprawl to rest, while Nicholas entered the bathroom to run the bath. Nearly six feet and three inches tall, this ti on their honeymoon he was playing the role of the dutiful spouse.

During the day, he acted as a guide, chauffeured his tired wife around, and back at the hotel, he ran the bath... He took care of almost every little detail of the day without any complaints and seed to enjoy it.

In the bathroom, he bent down and turned on the tap, but before he could straighten up, Sophie rushed in, vomiting uncontrollably into the toilet, emptying out all the food she ate that evening.

"What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Nicholas squatted down behind Sophie, gently patting her back and asking with concern, holding up her drooping ponytail with one large hand.

After vomiting, Nicholas helped Sophie stand up. She waved him off, went to the sink to rinse her mouth, and weakly shook her head, "I don’t know, maybe I ate sothing bad."

"It must be the insects; they weren’t inspected and probably have bacteria." Nicholas analyzed, frowning, realizing he shouldn’t have let her indulge her desires.

Sophie splashed so water on her face and said, "It’s nothing, I’ll be fine soon."

Nicholas said nothing more; blaming her now wouldn’t help since it had already happened. He returned to the room, got out the suitcase, and took out so common dicines he had brought along, handing Sophie a water bottle and a pill, "Take one, just in case you get sick."

"You’re the best, Uncle," Sophie said, pouting and feigning a spoiled tone as she took the dicine.

"Oh, you!"

Nicholas raised his hand to rub her hair, sighing helplessly, "Can’t you hold back sotis?"

After taking the pill, Sophie playfully stuck out her tongue.

Though it was unclear if Sophie really had food poisoning, she spent the night vomiting nurous tis, but otherwise felt fine, just continually throwing up, eventually dry heaving into the toilet.

Nicholas called the hotel for assistance, sending her to the hospital that night for a check-up. After a series of tests, the doctor exchanged a few words with the hotel manager, smiling.

Watching the manager nodding politely to the doctor in her presence, Sophie felt puzzled. She spent Thai baht to see a doctor, why the fuss?

But when the hotel manager translated the doctor’s words to the couple, Sophie was dumbfounded and montarily unable to react.

"Sir, your wife doesn’t have food poisoning. The doctor says your wife is pregnant, almost two months along."

"Really? Are you sure you heard right?" Nicholas stepped forward, grabbing the manager’s hand. Though usually composed, he was montarily overwheld with excitent.

"Sir, I didn’t hear wrong. Here, look, it’s written here." The manager pulled back his hand and picked up the paper the doctor had left behind, pointing out the words to Nicholas.

Although he couldn’t read those squiggly characters, Nicholas recognized the Arabic nurals, ...55...

It seed his Lara was 55 days pregnant. He was going to have a baby; they were going to have a baby!

"Lara, we’re going to have a baby!" Nicholas excitedly picked up the stunned Sophie, spinning around the doctor’s office.

He set her down and gave her a big kiss on the forehead, "Lara, we’re going to have a baby..."
