In a certain residence in T City, there is a bed placed in the center of a not-so-big room, and Sophie Foster is lying on it, with tubes all over her body.
Her long hair is ssily spread on the bed, and the left side of her face is already a bloody ss.
When the car ca crashing in, she fell directly onto the bluestone pavent; the violent collision caused her face to bear great impact.
Hannah Hargrave stands in front of the hospital bed, looking at her sister, whose life is being sustained by oxygen, without any fluctuation on her face. The nurse standing beside her says, "Miss Hargrave, let’s deal with her wounds properly, or not only will they scar, but they’ll get infected over ti..."
"Let them rot!" Before the nurse finishes speaking, Hannah Hargrave interrupts with a cold smirk at the utterly disfigured face of Sophie Foster and orders coldly, "Rember, just keep her breathing, no need to treat the wounds!"
The nurse looks at the girl on the hospital bed, barely clinging to life, and reluctantly frowns, softly agreeing, "Alright."
Nicholas Croft drives to the Hargrave Family ho. After the housekeeper opens the door, he walks straight in, bypasses Josephine Hawthorne watching TV on the sofa without a word, goes straight to the ground floor rooms, opens each one to check, sees no sign of Sophie Foster, then turns back towards the stairs.
"Nicholas Croft, what do you think you’re doing!" Josephine Hawthorne rises in anger to voice her discontent, but Nicholas Croft doesn’t spare her a glance, and walks up the stairs holding onto the railing.
"Ma’am, what’s wrong with Mr. Croft?" Aunt Wong asks with a worried face, frightened by the hostility Nicholas Croft exudes.
"How should I know what’s making him go crazy!" Josephine Hawthorne huffs unhappily, sitting back on the sofa in a fit.
"Go on with your work!"
Even as Hannah Hargrave’s mother, she is unaware of what has transpired.
After checking all the rooms upstairs, there is only Henry Hargrave lying on the bed with no other in sight. When Henry Hargrave sees Nicholas Croft at the door, he raises his arm towards him and lets out a few guttural sounds. Nicholas Croft gives him an ice-cold glance, turns away, and heads back downstairs, asking coldly before descending the stairs.
"Where’s Hannah Hargrave?"
Without turning her head from the TV, Josephine Hawthorne sulkily responds, "I don’t know!"
Nicholas Croft squints slightly but does not continue questioning. After walking down the stairs, he takes out his phone and calls Hannah Hargrave.
"Where are you hiding Lara?"
Facing Nicholas Croft’s displeased interrogation, Hannah Hargrave doesn’t show any anger, but her voice, which cos through the receiver, carries a hint of triumph.
"Wanna know?"
"I don’t want to hear nonsense," Nicholas Croft says coldly, causing Josephine Hawthorne, who is sulking in front of the TV, to turn around in surprise.
"Alright, but I’m not going to tell you. I’m right beside her now," Hannah Hargrave says leisurely, her gaze remaining fixed on Sophie Foster’s face as she speaks.
"Hannah Hargrave, don’t play gas with . Do you know that what you’re doing amounts to illegal detention!"
"Is that so? Then go ahead and sue , see if the police officer believes you," Hannah Hargrave’s voice becos increasingly defiant, her slow tone so infuriating that Nicholas Croft wants to flip the table.
Standing at the staircase in the main hall of the Hargrave Family ho, holding a phone with one hand and the other at his waist, his handso face shows bite marks, yet he’s helpless due to not knowing Hannah Hargrave’s location.
"Oh, just rembered," Hannah Hargrave’s voice cos through the receiver again, tinged with a triumphant laugh, "Maybe you won’t believe without evidence, so how about this, I’ll take a pretty picture of your Lara and send it to you."
