After soothing Sophie Foster, Nicholas Croft quickly walked out of the ward to see the doctor and recounted Sophie’s earlier reactions. The doctor thought for a mont before saying, "Perhaps your wife is still imrsed in the world of her dream, which is why she reacted that way."
"Doctor, is there any advanced equipnt that can detect what my wife dread about?" Nicholas asked urgently. He wanted to know what beautiful scene Lara had dread about, so he could be ntally prepared to cope with it and not let her feel heartbroken again.
"Nicholas, you must be joking." After Nicholas asked, the doctor laughed and humorously said, "Although our hospital’s equipnt is advanced, and you could say it’s one of the top hospitals worldwide, if you want to know what a human brain is thinking, that’s sothing from a sci-fi movie or maybe a task for a hypnotist psychologist. As for your request,"
The doctor stopped here, tilting his head slightly and spreading his hands, "We currently can’t achieve that."
Despite the doctor’s clear stance, Nicholas was still reluctant to give up. Leaning closer to the desk, he asked, "Isn’t there any way to try?"
"Sorry, we don’t have the machine you need."
Leaving the doctor’s office, Nicholas seed sullen, his brow furrowed as if troubled by sothing.
After calming Sophie earlier, he ntioned going to pick up the baby from the kindergarten. If he went back like this, he wondered if Lara would throw a fit...
Lost in thought, Nicholas heard screams and the sound of a woman throwing things from a room ahead in the corridor.
The familiar sound hit his ears, and Nicholas instinctively quickened his pace. As he pushed the door to the ward open, he was hit by a returning object before he could enter.
It was a drinking glass, made of glass, that struck his forehead, causing pain, and then fell to the ground, shattering with a crisp sound.
With one hand on the door handle, Nicholas closed his eyes to regain his composure, shaking his head before opening his eyes again. On the hospital bed, Sophie Foster held up a pillow, staring at him blankly.
"Lara, why did you get up? Didn’t uncle tell you to rest?" Nicholas sat on the bed despite feeling liquid flow from his forehead, patiently coaxing Sophie.
"Uncle..." Sophie muttered, tears welling up in her eyes, "Can you tell Lara where we are? Why are there foreigners everywhere, and I can’t understand what they’re saying..."
When Nicholas went to the doctor’s office, he asked the dical staff to look after the ward. Seeing a blonde, blue-eyed foreign nurse walk in, Sophie belatedly felt that sothing seed off.
When she got up to question the foreign nurse, the intense movent caused her vision to black out. As she raised her hand to hold her forehead, she discovered her face was wrapped in bandages.
"Lara, we’re abroad now. You... had a little accident, so we..." Nicholas spoke slowly, every word cautious and careful.
"What about the baby? Why did you co back alone? Where’s our baby, why didn’t you bring her back?" Before Nicholas could finish, Sophie interrupted, grabbing the lapel of his shirt, eyes widened with a mix of fear and agitation.
"Lara, listen to uncle..."
"I don’t want to listen!" Nicholas had just started to speak when Sophie interrupted, her voice loud and emotions more agitated, fiercely gripping his shirt as she questioned, "Where’s the baby? My baby, Nicholas Croft! Answer !"
