The pregnant woman was naturally prone to outbursts, especially since Sophia Hamilton was not one to be underestimated.

Threatened by Evander Lancaster, she imdiately lost her temper and slapped him on the head.

"I’ve gone too far! What, you’re fooling around with won outside and I’m not allowed to say anything!"

Evander Lancaster...

felt that apart from having a pure and harmless little face, there was nothing cute about this woman.

Her temper was explosive, not gentle, like a little lion baring its claws. If it were not for the fact that she was carrying his child, he would have definitely put her in her place!

Originally, Evander wanted to lash out; he got slapped for no reason early in the morning. But when he saw his daughter’s eyes were red like a little rabbit, he sighed while rubbing the slapped spot, "Why are you crying? You’re the one who hit ."

"Evander Lancaster, tell ! Did you find another woman?"

Sophia Hamilton held back her tears and questioned him with grievance, to which Evander helplessly replied, "I didn’t."

"Don’t say you didn’t! What’s with the bite mark on your ear? Don’t tell you did it yourself."

Evander originally didn’t want to say anything, since Willow Lancaster was his "cousin," and his mother’s affair with his second uncle had already made him feel sha; he didn’t want his woman to look down on his family. But Sophia was pressing for answers, and he knew from experience what it felt like to have sothing stuck in your throat without explanation.

Helplessly, he had to confess, "Last night, Willow got drunk and bit ."

"Who are you trying to fool? What kind of sister gets drunk and bites her brother?" Sophia clearly did not believe his explanation, "Unless she’s insane!"

"Really," Evander said helplessly, "there was a situation at ho yesterday..."

Evander briefly explained the situation at ho to Sophia Hamilton, and after he did, Sophia snorted coldly, "Stay away from your cousin in the future, she’s definitely got ulterior motives for you."

"Got it, little ancestor!" Evander promised good-naturedly, knowing he didn’t need her reminder.

He dropped Sophia off at her company and then went to the hospital for work. He handed two strands of hair to the lab doctor and requested the fastest possible results.

During lunch break, Evander received a call from his third aunt, Catherine Taylor. "Evander, is Willow with you? Why won’t she answer her phone?"

"Willow hasn’t gone back yet?" Evander was puzzled and glanced at the ti—it was almost one o’clock. Although she had drunk a lot of beer, she should have woken up by now.

"No, I called her several tis and there’s no answer. I’m worried she might have so accident; she’s been pampered and spoiled since childhood. What if she can’t think straight for a mont..."

As she spoke, Catherine started to sob again. Her husband, Gabriel Lancaster, had taken her to the civil affairs bureau to file for divorce early in the morning, but she had secretly managed to escape halfway, claiming she needed to visit the restroom. Fortunately, Gabriel was in a hurry to get to the company, so he didn’t force the issue any further. Since then, when she tried calling her daughter several tis, there hadn’t been any response.

"Aunt Catherine, don’t worry, Willow is grown-up now; she’s not a child anymore."

"Evander, please call Willow and tell her to co ho. She listens to you," Catherine pleaded tearfully, and Evander nodded agreeably.

"Okay, don’t worry, I’ll call Willow now."

Ending the call with Catherine, Evander found Willow’s number and dialed it. Listening to the music through the earpiece until the call disconnected automatically without Willow answering.

Looking at the phone screen returning to the screensaver, Evander dialed again, holding the phone close to his ear, but still no answer. Rembering Catherine’s concern, Evander took off his white coat, grabbed a jacket from the coat rack, and hurriedly left the office, driving toward his apartnt.

At that mont, in Evander Lancaster’s apartnt, Willow Lancaster lay flat on the bed.

She had already showered and was wearing Evander’s shirt, with the collar buttons not fully fastened, revealing a small part of her delicate collarbone. She was not wearing any pants, her long legs exposed to the air, her hair scattered across the pillow. If it weren’t for the blood flowing from her wrist hanging off the edge of the bed, one would have mistaken her for being asleep.

In the hospital corridor, Catherine Taylor sobbed uncontrollably in front of the ergency room.

"Catherine, stop crying, go rest for a bit. Evander said they found her in ti; her life won’t be in danger," Violet Zimrman patiently consoled her, but Catherine cried even harder, turning to cry on Violet’s shoulder, "Sister-in-law, why is Willow being so foolish... It’s my fault, not hers. If anyone should take desperate asures, it should be . She’s just a child; what does she know? It’s not like she can choose whose daughter she wants to be..."

Prior to slashing her wrists, Willow Lancaster had left behind a suicide note, consisting of just a few sentences.

Mom, I know now why Dad wants to divorce you... It’s because of . As long as I disappear, Dad won’t be angry anymore...

Violet Zimrman sighed. No one had expected that a child normally so outgoing would choose such an extre path.

She gently patted Catherine’s shoulder and continued to console her, "Catherine, don’t bla yourself too much. Maybe this incident was too much for Willow; she couldn’t accept it all at once."

"But she shouldn’t have tried to kill herself. Has she thought about what would happen to if she died, ugh..."

In the corridor, Gabriel Lancaster sat on a bench looking extrely gloomy; no one knew if it was because of Willow’s parentage or her attempt to end her life.

Joseph Lancaster saw Violet Zimrman had been standing with Catherine for over half an hour, furrowing his brows, he got up and approached.

"Sister-in-law, listen to what Violet says and take a rest over there. Willow will be alright."

"Brother, if Willow is gone, I don’t want to live either..." At this mont, Catherine was like an abandoned child, crying and complaining to anyone she could grab.

Joseph Lancaster furrowed his brows slightly, holding her arm gently to seat her on the bench, glancing at Violet Zimrman who was about to say sothing but hesitated, "Sister-in-law, you should sit and rest for a bit too; you’ve been busy all day at the company."

She was his woman; he cared for her dearly.

Violet Zimrman sat down on the corner of the bench, and Catherine continued to cry incessantly. Gabriel Lancaster felt irritable, furrowing his brows and turning to sternly scold her, "Why are you crying? Your crying is tearing this family apart!"

"I won’t cry, I won’t cry," Catherine wiped her tears hurriedly, muttering, but the tears kept flowing. Suddenly, she burst into loud wails and attacks directed at Gabriel, pushing and shoving him, crying, "Give back my daughter, give back my daughter, it’s all your fault, why insist on divorcing..."
