Evander Lancaster opened his eyes, his thin lips landing kiss after kiss on Sophia Hamilton’s cheek. "I’m sorry, it’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have lost my temper at you, shouldn’t have refused to explain when things happened. I’m sorry..."
"Too late." Sophia didn’t dodge, didn’t resist. Those two emotionless words announced that their relationship had reached its end.
"No, Sophia, it’s not too late. We’re still young, we can still have kids. As long as we try, we can still have kids..."
In Evander Lancaster’s whole life, he had never felt such panic as he did now. His handso face buried in Sophia Hamilton’s neck, he kept talking nonstop.
Sophia finally had a bit of a reaction. She raised her hand and tugged at the fabric on Evander Lancaster’s arm, and said flatly, "Can you let go first? I really need to pee."
"Oh, sorry, sorry, I wasn’t thinking." Evander Lancaster hurriedly let go of Sophia Hamilton, then stepped back to clear the doorway. Sophia had already turned around to sit on the toilet when he was still standing inside.
Sophia’s hand caught on the elastic band of her hospital gown. She looked at him with a blank face and said, "I can’t pee with you watching."
"Oh." Evander gave a brief response, walked out of the bathroom and pulled the door closed behind him.
Sophia turned her face to the side, licked her lips, and let out a long sigh.
Maybe everyone in this world has the sa bad habit: only thinking about apologizing after they’ve hurt soone.
Even though her heart hurt, unfortunately, in Sophia Hamilton’s dictionary, there was no such phrase as turning back.
After she finished in the bathroom and ca out, Evander Lancaster was still standing at the door, both hands shoved into the pockets of his casual pants. Hearing the sound of the door, he turned his head to look, his body turning with it.
Seeing that Sophia Hamilton’s face was still deathly pale, he hurriedly pulled his hands out and reached toward her, but before he could touch her, his hands were pushed away.
"No need, I can walk by myself."
Watching Sophia slowly walk toward the hospital bed, Evander Lancaster’s hands went back into his pockets, clenched tight. Staring at Sophia’s back, he asked, "Do you really have to be like this?"
Sophia lifted the quilt and climbed onto the bed. After pulling the quilt over herself, she leaned against the headboard and looked at Evander as she said, "You said it yourself—you didn’t want to see again for the rest of your life."

Pressed his thin lips together.
Turns out his little firecracker could hold a grudge like this. That was just sothing said in anger during a fight between a couple, yet she actually took it seriously.
After hesitating for a mont, he also ca to the bedside and sat down on the visitor’s chair. He’d originally wanted to hold Sophia Hamilton’s hand, but when he t her emotionless eyes, he pulled his half-extended hand back into his pocket.
"Sophia, I know my words hurt you, but you should know, in that situation, I didn’t really an it."
"But I was hurt all the sa," Sophia said calmly. Evander Lancaster felt that if she could still yell and scream at him like before, then it would really just be a fight. After the fighting, they’d still make up.
But now she didn’t. She faced him like a pool of dead water, no emotion, no warmth.
That panicked feeling—like he was about to lose sothing—made Evander Lancaster inexplicably irritable.
His phoenix eyes tightened as he said in a cold, hard tone, "I’m not letting go!"
Sophia clearly sighed and said tiredly, "Do whatever you want. I’m exhausted and want to rest. When you leave, rember to lock the door for ."
With that, she lay down, yanked the quilt tighter around herself, and left him only her back.
