But once the door closed, her face turned cold again. However, Evander Lancaster had already walked into the kitchen with the shopping bags, taking out the ingredients one by one, his movents skilled and natural, as if he had returned to his own ho.

Juliana Lancaster sighed helplessly and walked towards the kitchen. Just as she reached the doorway, Evander Lancaster, as diligent as before, said, "Auntie, you can go watch TV. I can handle this by myself."

They say you shouldn’t hit a smiling face with an outstretched hand, let alone when Evander Lancaster made it clear upon arrival that even if they couldn’t be a couple, they could still be friends. Moreover, seeing her daughter’s deanor, it was clear the two were having a tiff. If they truly wanted to part ways, she wouldn’t insist on keeping the baby.

For the sake of her unborn grandchild, Juliana Lancaster couldn’t be too harsh. After all, she was an educated woman and wouldn’t chase soone out with a broom. However, she wasn’t going to easily forgive anyone for hurting her daughter.

Before returning to the living room, she coldly said, "Just cook, and leave once you’re done."

Evander Lancaster paused for a mont while washing the turtle, then quickly smiled and agreed, "Alright, I’ll leave after I finish cooking."

Having been with Sophia Hamilton for such a long ti, he had already figured out the temperant of the mother and daughter. Although Juliana Lancaster was the elder, she doted on her daughter. Even when his own mother ca to their door, she had objected, but eventually gave in to her daughter’s wishes and agreed to their relationship.

So Evander Lancaster knew that as long as he could coax his little chili pepper well, his mother-in-law would treat him kindly, just like before.

Washing vegetables, cutting them, arranging them on plates, Evander Lancaster tied on an apron and busied himself in the kitchen like a little wife, while Sophia Hamilton, upon hearing him making dinner in the kitchen, comfortably lay down in bed and fell asleep.

After bustling around, Evander Lancaster placed the dishes on the dinner table and called out towards the living room, "Auntie, dinner is ready. Please call Sophia over."

Juliana Lancaster sighed once more, stood up, and entered her daughter’s room, giving her a gentle push, "Get up, it’s ti to eat."

Sophia Hamilton turned over, rubbed her eyes, and yawned, "What ti is it? I’m starving."

"Serves you right for starving!" Juliana Lancaster said angrily, then turned and walked out.

Watching her mother’s retreating back, Sophia Hamilton pouted and blinked her eyes.

The dinner was sumptuous: turtle soup, sweet and sour fish, ginseng stewed chicken... all nourishing dishes. By the ti Juliana Lancaster called her daughter to get up, Evander Lancaster had already set the table for three and was now serving rice.

Seeing Juliana Lancaster walk in, he smiled and said, "Auntie, co eat. It’s so late, you must be hungry."

Juliana Lancaster...

With a cold expression, she sat at the dining table. Before picking up her chopsticks, she said coldly, "Evander, don’t co over anymore. If you’re going to break up, make it clean. Our ordinary family can’t compare to yours, and Sophia is still young. She still needs to find a husband in the future."

Evander Lancaster paused again while serving rice, quickly returning to normal, and placed the bowl on the table with a smile, "I understand, Auntie. Let’s eat first; the food won’t taste as good when it’s cold."

Facing such a thick-skinned man, Juliana Lancaster felt as though her fists were punching cotton — no matter how angry she beca, she couldn’t muster the strength.

Sophia Hamilton entered the kitchen yawning as Evander Lancaster looked up, smiled at her, and naturally asked, "You’re up. Co over and eat."

As soon as she left the bedroom, the aroma of food wafted into her nose. Sophia Hamilton was about to rush over but then rembered they had "broken up." She imdiately put on a stern face, "What are you doing here in my house? Get out!"

"Co eat quickly. I’ll leave once we’ve eaten," Evander Lancaster said good-naturedly, waving his hand. But Sophia Hamilton remained resolute, standing at the entrance to the small dining room, pointing towards the door, "Get out, you’re not welco here!"

Evander Lancaster...

Glancing at Juliana Lancaster across the room, the latter was already eating with a bowl and chopsticks, her face cold, showing no intention to stop them.

Facing his mother-in-law, Evander Lancaster couldn’t be as assertive as he was in the morning, nor could he afford to be too obsequious, since all n have their pride. The smile vanished from his handso face. He threw on the jacket slung over the chair and strode over.

As he passed by Sophia Hamilton, she rely gave him a cold glance without further response. Putting on his shoes beside the shoe cabinet, Evander Lancaster pushed the door open and left, then rembered sothing, reached into his pants pocket for Sophia Hamilton’s phone, placed it on the shoe cabinet, and left with a cold expression.

"Hmph!" Seeing the door close, Sophia Hamilton snorted haughtily, then walked to the table to sit down.

She picked up the bowl and chopsticks that Evander Lancaster had just set down and began eating. Even though they had just "broken up," it didn’t affect her mood at all.

Juliana Lancaster glanced up at her coldly and said, "You can eat at a ti like this?"

"Hmph! Why wouldn’t I eat?" Sophia Hamilton said, popping a piece of chicken into her mouth. "I’m carrying his child, eating the things he buys counts as a kind of compensation!"

Juliana Lancaster snorted dismissively, lowered her eyes, and picked up a piece of green vegetable, "I thought you had so backbone."

Sophia Hamilton...

She stopped a spoonful of turtle soup at her lips, looking at her mother with a face full of grievance, genuinely wondering if she was her biological mother—who tears apart their own child like that!

Once Evander Lancaster stepped out of Sophia Hamilton’s apartnt building, he felt utterly frustrated, wanting to vent his anger at that darned woman, but with his mother-in-law present, he could only restrain himself for the ti being.

After bustling around all evening, he hadn’t even had a sip.

Thinking he might find a restaurant for a quick bite, he paused, then took out his phone and called Nathan Moore.

"Second brother, how’s your health recently? Feeling alright?... Oh, that’s good. Have you had dinner... Oh, wait for ; I’ll co over to your place for a al."

Ending the call, Evander Lancaster turned the wheel and headed toward Nathan Moore’s place.

Visiting Nathan Moore’s house was not just about catching a al. He also needed to have a word with him — his woman had a miscarriage, so he wanted to ask his second brother for a few days off.

Having dinner with Nathan Moore and his wife, after the al, Evander Lancaster and Nathan Moore chatted on the sofa, while Titus Zane wanted to go to the studio to continue working, but Nathan Moore pulled him back.

"Evander hasn’t been over here in ages. Don’t go painting today."

Titus Zane knew Nathan Moore was worried about him being too tired, smiled, and sat down beside him. Nathan Moore naturally wrapped an arm around his waist, while his other hand clasped his, gently rubbing his palm.

Evander Lancaster raised an eyebrow, withdrew his gaze, and sighed quietly to himself, wondering when he could win back his little chili pepper.

"Evander, if there’s sothing on your mind, just say it. We’re brothers, no need to sigh and moan."

Nathan Moore, being as astute as he is, could see from Evander Lancaster’s reaction that sothing was up. He rembered the call this morning, where Evander ntioned Sophia Hamilton wasn’t feeling well. If she truly was unwell, at this ti he should be by her side rather than coming over to his place for a al.
