"Thank you for giving this chance, I won’t let you down." Evander Lancaster pulled Sophia Hamilton back into his arms again, closed his eyes, and the corners of his mouth lifted in contentnt.

Sophia felt she was really useless. She’d been so angry that day, yet after he said a few nice words, she forgave him.

In fact, what moved her most wasn’t what Evander said about their bodies and hearts, but that sentence, "As long as the two of us love each other." Yeah, a marriage certificate is just a piece of paper. How many couples get the certificate and still end up divorced all the sa?

As long as they loved each other, what could that piece of paper really prove? Besides, she was already prepared to be an unwed mother.

Evander held Sophia’s shoulders and eased her a bit away from him, staring into her eyes as he asked with concern.

"Tell , where do you feel uncomfortable? Do you want to go to the hospital for a checkup?"

"No need, I feel much better now." Sophia deliberately brushed off Evander’s hand from her shoulder with a cool air, her small face also faint and expressionless, hiding her secret delight very well.

"What do you want to eat? I’ll go buy it."

Sophia lowered her eyes and glanced at the beef bites on the bedside table. Imported, super expensive—her heart ached every ti she swiped her card. She had to keep hypnotizing herself: It’s your son who wants to eat this, don’t be stingy, before she could bring herself to buy such a small bag.

She reached out, picked up a piece of beef, popped it into her mouth, and said carelessly, "Nothing in particular, it’s just that these last few days nothing tastes like anything. Chewing so beef jerky feels a bit better."

How could Evander not understand her little calculations. Dutch imported food might be reasonably priced for rich people, but for soone as stingy and tight-fisted as her, it might as well be sky-high.

He poked Sophia on the forehead, doting yet helpless. "You, honestly."

Sophia knew that by tomorrow he’d have beef bites he could never finish eating. She picked up another preserved sour plum. "This also brings out the taste pretty well."

"Okay, I’ll go buy so after we eat."

Evander reached out and rubbed Sophia’s face, which had clearly gotten a bit chubbier. She turned her face arrogantly to the side, putting on that "couldn’t care less" look.

Evander finally managed to stay for dinner, because while Juliana Lancaster was cooking, he had stayed in Sophia’s room the whole ti.

As a mother, she understood her daughter’s thoughts. Saying she couldn’t bear for the child to be an unwed baby—wasn’t it really that she couldn’t bear to let go of this man?

Although she didn’t throw Evander out, Juliana also didn’t give him a pleasant face. She kept her expression cold the whole ti. Fortunately, Evander had a thick skin, so he still ate that al quite happily.

After dinner, Evander got up and left. Sophia leaned back on the sofa, chewing on beef bites while watching TV. Juliana turned her head to look at her daughter and sighed helplessly.

"Sophia, didn’t you say you broke up? What is this now? You two are back together again?"

"Mom~ how co the older you get, the more you like to ddle? I’m already an adult!"

"No matter how old you are, you’re still my daughter!" Juliana said sternly. "Sophia, Mom is going to make things clear to you today. Evander’s mother doesn’t agree, and you know that very well yourself. If you keep seeing Evander, you have to be ntally prepared: either you stay with him without a na or a status, or you’ll end up breaking up in the end anyway!"

Juliana hit the sore spot in one sentence. She couldn’t bear to tear her daughter and him apart, but she had to make the logic clear. If he were from an ordinary family, they could still ignore the man’s parents’ opinion.

But the Lancaster Family was no ordinary family. She’d asked around: they were a wealthy clan in City T. In a family like that, even if the parents didn’t object, it was still uncertain whether things could last long. Let alone when they clearly didn’t approve at all!

How long could a marriage like that last, anyway.
