"What are you doing here? Get out! I don’t want to see you!" Gabriel Lancaster shouted unhappily upon seeing Catherine Taylor enter.

Catherine hesitated for a mont before braving her way to the bedside. "Gabriel, how are you feeling? Is the wound very painful? Shall I call the doctor to give you so pain dication?"

Worried that Gabriel would be upset upon seeing her and their daughter, Catherine returned to the ward with her daughter after he was brought out of the operating room.

"Get lost! I don’t need your fake concern. Seeing you only worsens my condition!" Gabriel reprimanded unhappily, acting out because he was upset Catherine wasn’t staying by his side.

Catherine’s hand, which was about to reach out, withdrew. Her eyes brimd with tears as she forced a smile and said, "Fine, I’ll leave so you won’t be upset."

Catherine turned around, testing the corner of her eye as she closed the door. Sothing slamd against the door with a thud, causing her to shudder. She bit her lip, tested her eye again, and walked towards the elevator.

Inside the ward, Gabriel’s chest continued to heave as he glared at the door, his expression extrely gloomy.

An unromantic woman! Divorce! I must divorce!

...

Evander Lancaster leaned against the car, hands in his casual pants pockets, watching the company’s entrance. As soon as he saw Sophia Hamilton coming out, he hurried over and grabbed her wrist, leading her towards his car without saying anything, as if she would be snatched away if he slowed down.

"What are you doing? Let go of !" Sophia struggled. Evander, tall with long legs, took wide strides, forcing Sophia, who only reached his shoulder, to run to keep up.

"Stop it! Your colleagues are watching!"

Evander lowered his voice, scolding lightly, as he opened the passenger door and bundled Sophia inside. After slamming the door, he quickly walked around the car to the driver’s side. Sophia watched his eager deanor and slyly smiled.

Once Evander settled into the driver’s seat, she put on a cold face again, "What do you call this? Kidnapping?"

Evander, before fastening the seatbelt, pinched her nose and smiled through gritted teeth, "You stubborn little mule, I thought we reconciled last night."

"Sleeping with you ans reconciliation? Don’t flatter yourself!" Sophia refused to admit, as Evander leaned over, helping her with her seatbelt as he casually said, "Ever heard of biting the hand that feeds you?"

Sophia...

"It’s just so snacks; I’ll pay you!"

"Snacks?" Evander glanced over while releasing the handbrake, seeing Sophia arrogantly lifting her chin, and with a half-smile said, "Sure, pay now. Forget the change; a thousand bucks will do."

Evander, knowing Sophia’s stingy nature, spread his hand in front of her.

...

"That’s outright extortion! How could such a bit of food be so expensive?"

"Don’t want to pay up? Fine, then let’s put in so effort." Evander withdrew his hand, started the engine, and nonchalantly said.

"Effort? What kind of effort? You don’t an hiring as a maid to clean your house, do you?"

Sophia raised an eyebrow in displeasure. If that were the case, she wouldn’t agree; cleaning his house would be akin to being a maid.

"No, your physique isn’t suited for that," Evander’s wrist smoothly turned the steering wheel, the black Bentley changed lanes heading towards his apartnt.

Sophia turned her head to look at him, not focusing on the thought.

"Then what kind of physical work do you want to do?"

Evander glanced over quickly, his eyes filled with amusent, lips lightly moving to clearly utter two words, "Warm the bed."

"Absolutely not!" Sophia turned her mouth away, rejecting him, but after turning back, her lips were curved upwards.

"You don’t have a say; I get the final word!" Evander grabbed her hand, wrapping it in his palm, his slender fingers lightly caressing her hand’s back.

Sophia’s gaze fell on Evander’s hand, her lips’ curve growing more pronounced.

Whether due to his profession or a ticulous nature, the first thing Evander did upon bringing Sophia to the apartnt was to grab a black plastic bag from the cupboard for her.

Sophia thought it was sothing tasty, but upon opening the bag, she found it contained sanitary pads.

"Go to the bathroom and change into a new one; science proves frequent changes are hygienic."

Sophia...

Angrily threw the bag at Evander.

"You’re a freak! Why would a grown man care about this for a woman!"

Evander caught the plastic bag and conveniently placed it on the sofa. "No need to be embarrassed; I’m not an outsider. Go on, I prepared plenty."

Watching Evander’s figure as he entered the kitchen, Sophia wrinkled her nose, making a tiny fist gesture towards him.

Stupid man, did he see her using sanitary pads!

When Evander stuffed a bag of snacks into her hand, Sophia almost felt moved enough to tell him the baby hadn’t been lost, that it was still inside her.

But when Evander jokingly said, "This goes on the tab too, and when you’re better, you’ll have to repay double!" Sophia suddenly changed her mind, hugging the snack bag as she sat on the sofa and watched TV, ignoring the man altogether.

Evander changed into casual clothes and went to the kitchen to prepare dinner. A single man rarely cooked for himself, mostly eating out.

"Sophia, don’t watch TV too long; it’s tiring for your eyes. Lie on the sofa and rest for a while." Evander, cutting sothing, held a Western knife expertly.

Feeling cared for, Sophia felt warmth in her heart, but she pretended to be upset, complaining, "Your mouth is like a nagging old woman!"

Evander laughed at her comnt, "Alright, I won’t nag. Don’t eat too many snacks; dinner will be ready soon."

Sophia stuck her tongue out at him in the kitchen and obediently set the snacks aside.

Dinner was simple: stead fish, greens, and tomato soup.

Sophia practically devoured the entire bass; after eating, she wiped her mouth and returned to the sofa to watch TV, relaxed and comfortable, leaving Evander to wash dishes and tidy the kitchen.

When Evander finished tidying up and returned to the living room, Sophia lazily propped herself off the sofa, "I’m going ho now. Take back."

Evander sat down on the sofa, wrapping an arm around her waist and another on her shoulder, frowning slightly.

"Didn’t we agree yesterday you’d move in with ?"

Sophia wrinkled her nose, looking at Evander with a disdainful expression, "What do you an? Trying to trick into living with you? Dream on!"

"No," Evander sighed. "Didn’t my words yesterday an anything to you? It’s not about cohabiting; I want to live life with you."
