, facing Wesley Foley’s earnest gaze, Titus Zane’s full lips quivered, and in the end, said nothing.
If it were any other man, she would have imdiately replied, yes, but the man before her was too excellent and serious, and she could not bring herself to deceive him.
At least not right now.
"Go ahead."
Wesley said, lifting the corners of his lips slightly, his eyes gentle, like the words he uttered.
"Get so rest early, you still have to work tomorrow."
After speaking, he turned around, as if unwilling to put Titus Zane in a difficult position.
Watching the man’s slender back walking towards the luxury car, opening the door, getting in, until the luxury car slowly drove away, standing in front of the hotel, for a long ti, Titus Zane couldn’t regain her composure.
Titus Zane suffered from insomnia again, her sleep quality had always been poor, and now, the phrase "I’m waiting for your answer" echoed in her ears, and in her mind, the image of Wesley’s tender appearance automatically surfaced...
Sitting at the round table near the window, Titus Zane, holding a glass of red wine in one hand, stared absent-mindedly at the night sky outside the window.
The ringtone of the phone on the table brought her back to her senses, she looked down, hesitated for a mont at the constantly flashing number on the touchscreen, and then picked it up to answer.
"Big brother said you left T City, when are you coming back?" Nathan Moore’s voice ca through the handset and into her ear, asking when she would return, not "Are you coming back to T City?"
Since jumping from the balcony three years ago, Titus Zane had told herself that she had been given a second chance to live, and she must be optimistic, so she had been striving hard.
But tonight, Wesley’s confession caused ripples in her heart. Not because she was sentintal, but deceiving such a deeply affectionate and excellent man made her uneasy.
Thus, her mood also dropped.
Yet, Nathan’s voice ward her heart, like a warm current seeping into her ear and spreading through her whole body, giving her a feeling of warmth in a strange land, knowing soone cared about her, which felt really good.
She brought the wine glass to her lips, took a sip, a slight curve ford at her lips, and with a reluctant and lazy voice she said, "I need to support myself, I have to find a job."
"How long will you work?" He asked directly, without much emotion, but Titus Zane could imagine the man frowning on the other end of the phone.
She placed the wine glass back on the table, her slender fingers idly twirling it as Titus Zane said, "Who knows how long one will stay with a company?"
"Found a job?"
"Mhm, executive assistant." Titus Zane answered honestly, with a hint of bragging, because after all, apart from hearing it through the handset, there was nothing he could do.
"Which city, which company? I’ll co over tomorrow."
Titus Zane...
What would it an for him to co while she’s at work? She’s not a freshman who needs parents to accompany her, and besides, he’s not her parent...
"Which city!" Not hearing an answer, Nathan asked again.
For so reason, Titus Zane suddenly felt the worrying illusion of being caught by him. She sighed and said, "All right, I won’t work for too long, I’ll return to T City after I’ve made so money."
After speaking, without waiting for Nathan to react, she hung up the phone.
She put the phone back on the table and turned to look out the window at the night, feeling much better. Holding the wine glass to her lips, she took a sip, and Titus Zane’s lips curled up.
