Standing at the kitchen door, he looked at Nathan Moore, the mockery at the corner of his mouth evident as he let out a cold laugh.
"Director Moore, if you don’t say anything, I truly wouldn’t have known how well you take care of your aunt-in-law."
"That’s right, we’re family after all," Nathan retorted unabashedly, flipping the ham in the skillet, his raised eyebrows conveying his disdain.
If he used to care about Titus Zane working under Wesley Foley, now he didn’t regard the man at all—an egghead who could only tinker with machines in the lab, pushing forty and yet without a woman, it seed he either lacked emotional intelligence or was physically deficient.
Nathan believed it was the latter.
Don’t ask why, there’s no reason, it’s just the latter!
"Heh!" A cold laugh sounded again, the early morning brought two equally outstanding n standing together trading barbs.
Wesley Foley spoke up, his tone slow and asured but carrying an aggressive stance.
"Director Moore, there’s sothing I think you have forgotten."
"What’s that?" Nathan turned his gaze, a flicker of disdain in his eyes before he turned back to continue preparing breakfast for Titus.
"Years ago, wasn’t it you who forcefully imprisoned your aunt-in-law by your side, causing her such misery, to the point where she wanted to end her life to escape?"
The slow and asured tone of Wesley, like a poisonous needle, seed small but once struck, was deadly.
Nathan’s movent in flipping the ham stopped, his handso face turning with his black eyes slightly cold, and the words that ca out were as sharp as ice.
"Who told you that?"
"Hmph!" Another cold laugh, seeing Nathan taken aback, Wesley’s face relaxed a bit, "That, of course is..."
"Nathan! What are you doing..." The voice of Titus ca from the bedroom, very cheerful, and even the figure bursting in seed bursting with vivacity, but when he saw Wesley standing in front of the kitchen door, the joy in his voice abruptly stopped.
Forcing a smile, "Director Foley, you’re up?"
It was as if only now did he rember there was a third presence in the apartnt.
"Titus, you said it!" Nathan’s gaze passed over Wesley to look at Titus, from afar, Titus could feel his coldness.
"What?" Titus frowned in confusion.
"You told him?"
Nathan raised a hand to point, his knuckles well-defined, ordinarily a pleasing sight, but at this mont, they were like a sword aid right at Wesley’s face.
Startled, Titus wasn’t sure what had happened during the ti she was not awake, but judging by the current scene, the atmosphere was far from pleasant.
Worried that Nathan in a fit of anger would lay hands on Wesley, she hurriedly stepped forward, grabbed Wesley’s arm to shield him behind her, and with chin lifted and brows furrowed, she shouted at Nathan.
"Nathan! What do you think you’re doing so early in the morning?"
Nathan’s obsidian-like eyes tightened, falling on Titus’s hand grasping Wesley’s arm; hiding behind her as if she was afraid he would harm Wesley?
With a smirk, Nathan let out a cold laugh.
"Ha! Haha! Titus, well done!" With that said, he dropped the spatula, bypassing the two at the door, and strode to the apartnt’s exit.
Upon hearing the sound of the door slamming shut, Titus’s heart also jolted.
She did not know what had happened, and couldn’t even understand why things had turned out this way; just last night, they were getting along pleasantly, feeling so comfortable, how could everything change after waking up?
Wesley’s gaze followed Nathan as he left in anger, his lips curving in a victorious smile.
Turning his gaze back, he looked at the woman standing rigid in front of him, the smile disappeared from his lips, "Carrie, why would Director Moore be in the apartnt?"
