When Max Locke spoke, he looked ahead, but Titus Zane could clearly see that his gaze wasn’t actually focused; it seed like he was reminiscing about the past.
If her earlier guess was right about this man having a subtle relationship with her mother, then now Titus Zane was certain that this middle-aged man in front of her must have liked her mother, or at least had affection for her.
Smiling a little, Titus Zane continued to probe as if it was unintentional.
"Are you very familiar with my mother?"
Max Locke turned his head to look at her, smiling, "More than familiar, I watched her grow up."

Slightly narrowing her eyes, Titus Zane’s mind raced. Max Locke seed to notice her puzzlent and said with a smile, "I am eight years older than your mother. When she was young, she used to like to cling to and asked to carry her. At first, I found it annoying, but gradually it beca a habit."
After saying that, he sighed again. Titus Zane regained her composure and managed a restrained smile.
Max Locke looked at her, furrowing his brow, "If I rember correctly, you should be a few years older than Alder..."
"I’m thirty-one." Interrupting Max Locke, Titus Zane volunteered her age and explained, "Uncle, please don’t misunderstand, I was brought back by Alder Locke to act as a shield."
Titus Zane was frank for a reason; she didn’t want Max Locke to misunderstand, and she really didn’t want to hear the kind of undisguised disdain similar to what the old Mr. Locke had shown.
Thus, before Max Locke could express disdain for her "older" age, she quickly revealed the truth to avoid any misunderstanding.
In actual fact, Max Locke still misunderstood, looking at Titus Zane and saying with a laugh, "That’s not what I ant," and as Titus Zane looked baffled, he continued, "I want to tell you that the old man is stubborn, but he bears no ill will towards you."

During the journey, she talked a lot with Max Locke about her mother’s childhood, but the aningful things Titus Zane truly wanted to learn about were not ntioned by Max Locke, who deliberately avoided so questions she raised.
People often are like that; the more they want to hide sothing, the more others want to explore it. Titus Zane suddenly rembered that everyone avoided talking about the illegal arms dealership.
Turning around, she walked towards the corporate building’s entrance. At this mont, in the president’s office, an assistant was reporting to Wesley Foley.
"President, the assistant nad carry is back, sent by General Max Locke’s private vehicle."
In Banyan City, there is only one Military Headquarters, and Max Locke is the highest-ranking official there.
Wesley Foley’s eyes narrowed slightly, his emotions unreadable, and he nodded indifferently, "Go ahead, and rember to instruct the secretary to call carry over."
"Yes, President." The assistant bowed respectfully and then left.
