Titus Zane thought that her grandfather was talking about the treatnt she received at the Zane Family, so she faintly smiled and said, "Grandfather, it’s all in the past, I’m doing very well now."
Whenever Samuel Zane thought about his granddaughter being confined by that man and not allowed to leave, anger would surge within him. With a glare and a loud slap on the sofa, he exclaid, "What’s good about that!"
Seeing his own excessive behavior had frighten his granddaughter, he quickly moderated his attitude, sighed with self-reproach, "It’s all my fault. I thought Julian Zane would treat you well for your mother’s sake, but who could have expected... Alas,"
Samuel Zane’s gaze shifted over, unconsciously tapping on the sofa while looking ahead and sighing again, always feeling sorrowful when ntioning his late daughter.
Titus Zane didn’t know how to comfort him; though he was a close relative, they had only just t, so she sat next to Samuel Zane feeling rather reserved.
Samuel Zane sighed once again and turned back to pat Titus Zane’s hand, gently saying, "Child, don’t be scared. From now on, you have your grandfather to support you. No one would dare bully you anymore."
Titus Zane managed a strained smile, but didn’t respond.
Abigail Zimrman ca out of the kitchen and upon seeing that Titus Zane had arrived, hurried over, sat down beside her, and took Titus Zane’s hand with concern, asking, "Titus, you’re back, are you tired? Hungry, aren’t you? Just wait a bit, I’ll tell the kitchen to serve food right away."
After speaking, she got up and rushed back to the kitchen.
At the dining table, for the first ti, Titus Zane found out that she had a cousin.
Three years younger than her, he was an active-duty soldier.

Sitting at the dining table, his back straight, even when assisting his cousin with the dishes, he was ticulously proper.
Titus Zane originally thought that her grandfather had soone bring her over just for a temporary stay, but from the sporadic conversations, she realized that her grandfather wanted her to move back ho, worried about the hardships she faced outside.
After lunch, George returned to the military unit, and Uncle Evander Lancaster went back to the company. In the living room, only Titus Zane, her grandfather, and aunt remained.
Seeing that the old gentleman’s tea cup was empty, Titus Zane took the initiative to pour more tea while also taking the mont to clarify her intentions.
"Grandfather, I’m doing quite fine now, you don’t need to worry about . Besides, I am an adult already, I can’t be living under your wings forever."
"What is wrong with living under my wings?" Samuel Zane picked up the tea cup and turned to look at her, the sternness of the octogenarian undiminished by the years.
"For over thirty years, I know the kind of life you have been through, even without your saying. Sent abroad by Julian Zane at such a young age, without any family by your side... I know all the hardships you endured, but what infuriates the most is that damn idiot made you marry soone in place of his own daughter!"
At this point, Julian Zane angrily slamd the tea cup he just picked up back onto the table, causing a loud noise, as Titus Zane guiltily lowered her gaze, "Grandfather... I did it voluntarily," back then she was naive and too easily trusted people, seeing Ariana Evans crying, she impulsively got into the wedding car...
"Voluntarily? Who would be willing to live with their brother-in-law by coercion!"
In his agitation, Julian Zane simply slapped the coffee table, the vigorous old man’s palm hitting it so hard that the cups on it rattled.
"If not for the malicious intentions of Julian Zane and his wife, you wouldn’t have had to watch your fiancé marry another woman!"
