Spring Festival, the most important holiday for the Chinese, with every household aglow with festive lights and decorations. In the villa, Titus Zane busied herself with the help of the housemaid.
This year, in her role as the lady of the house, although she couldn’t do everything firsthand, watching the maid work filled her with a feeling vastly different from before.
Perhaps in pursuit of good fortune, she donned a bright red knitted sweater paired with a shawl, her usual curly hair now straightened, and dyed from brown to black.
"Ma’am, do you think this position is okay?" Following the lady’s instructions, every window in the hall was adorned with festive paper-cuts, the red designs exuding celebration.
"Hmm, move it a little bit to the left... good, right there..." With her hands wrapped in the shawl, Titus Zane stood a bit away from the window, her eyes and lips radiating with joy.
After the window decorations were in place, Titus Zane moved on to the kitchen. Though it was just past noon, she wanted to get the ingredients for dinner ready.
"Oh dear, ma’am, why are you back in here? You should keep Mr. Zane company, otherwise he might get upset."
The new nanny appeared helpless; each ti the lady had just set foot in the kitchen, before even giving any orders, she would be called away by Mr. Zane, and after several occurrences, the nanny felt anxious seeing the lady rush up and down the stairs.
"You little girl, are you getting impatient!" Titus Zane said with a chuckle, approaching before she could even check the ingredients on the countertop, when Xiaojuan pushed the kitchen door open to enter.
"Ma’am, you should go upstairs quickly. Mr. Zane is getting angry, he even threw his dicine away."
Feeling helpless inside, Titus Zane thought how this man was becoming more childish by the day. She replied, "I’ll be right there," and after a few more instructions, hastened out of the kitchen towards the staircase.
Behind her, as soon as Titus Zane left the room, the nannies giggled among themselves, "Our Mr. Zane is really sothing, he becos unwilling the mont he can’t see the madam. Imagine when he recovers and has to go to the office, is he going to take the madam with him tied up?"
"What do you know, our Mr. Zane and the madam are so affectionate. With such a beautiful woman as the madam always by his side, he’s even motivated while at work,"
Inside the kitchen, the nannies chattered and joked while working. Titus Zane had reached the bedroom door. Pushing it open, she entered to find Nathan Moore on the bed, who proudly turned his face away upon her entry.
"What’s wrong now?" Titus Zane said, helplessly smiling as she went over to sit by the bed, reaching out to grasp Nathan Moore’s hand. Only then did he turn his face back to her, a look of grievance on his face.
"We have so many nannies at ho, why are you still bustling about!"
"No matter how many nannies we have, I only feel at ease when I see things for myself."
Upon hearing this, Nathan Moore felt even less pleased, "So you feel at ease leaving a man who can’t move on his own in the room!"
Titus Zane felt that three years ago, it was Nathan Moore who owed her, but after these two perilous incidents, she was the one who owed Nathan Moore.
With a helpless sigh, "Alright, it was my fault. Don’t be angry, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have left you alone in the room."
Titus Zane’s coaxing apology only led to Nathan Moore’s disdain. He turned his face away again, "Insincere."
After these days together, Titus Zane had figured out the man’s tactic, and promptly cupped Nathan Moore’s face back towards her, "I’ll show my sincerity now."
Just as she bent over and closed in, he had already clasped the back of her head, his warm lips and tongue moving together, savoring those soft lips without letting go.
