Nicholas Croft leaned on the card table with a single elbow, drawing on his cigarette. Hearing the words, he turned his gaze to Felix Shaw, "Why should I tell you anything about Sophie and my private life!"
Felix Shaw backed off a bit, feeling vexed, and curled his lip, "Even if you don’t say it, I know. There must have been sothing! Even a man as stoic as Nathan can be so impulsive, let alone a seasoned player like you!"
Listening to Felix Shaw’s topic veering off further, a certain image flashed before Evander Lancaster’s eyes. He tensed, flicked the cigarette butt away, and swept the cards off the table, "Tired, heading ho to rest."
He had zero interest in the matters between n and won, found even the discussions nauseating.
Watching Evander Lancaster put on his jacket and leave, Felix Shaw turned his gaze back to continue gossiping.
"Big bro, do you think Evander has so kind of hidden problem? Otherwise, how co we’ve never seen him with a woman all these years?"
Nicholas Croft’s gaze withdrew, took a drag of his cigarette, pressing the butt into the ashtray. He sighed out the smoke, "Perhaps."
Seeing the door left ajar, Felix Shaw kept gossiping, "I’m telling you, rember that ti we wanted to have so fun with a few won, and Evander’s reaction was so tense..."
Those events were years ago. On Nicholas Croft’s birthday, the guys celebrated for him, going to a nightclub, ordering plenty of drinks and won. By the end, they planned to take those won back for more fun, but after leaving the nightclub, Nathan Moore left alone. Everyone understood since he had Olivia Zane by his side, committed, but Evander Lancaster actually pulled out the woman who had gotten into his car, with a face full of disgust and disdain, as rembered by Felix Shaw to this day – holding that woman’s arm as if holding sothing dirty.
Evander Lancaster was only a few months younger, a 27-year-old man, still single, not having a girlfriend, never even seeking the company of won, which made Felix Shaw seriously suspect that Evander had so physical deficiency.
"Perhaps he has a ntal clean-freak issue," Nicholas Croft casually remarked, "After all, he’s a doctor."
"Big bro, do you think it’s because he has so psychological trauma? Staring at nude won all day, after a while, he might lose all desire and interest?"
Felix Shaw was caught up in his gossip and, after finishing speaking, took another drag of his cigarette. Then, with an ’ow’ sound, he flicked the cigarette butt away, too preoccupied with gossiping about others to notice it had already burned down to his fingers.
Nicholas Croft shook his head helplessly, standing up and said, "Felix, if you spent as much ti thinking about Mia, you wouldn’t be off on such flights of fancy!"
"How am I off on flights of fancy? I’m just worried about Evander," Felix Shaw retorted with dissatisfaction, "Let’s leave, too. We’re heading back."
Nicholas Croft patted Felix Shaw on the shoulder, the latter rising reluctantly, "The evening was all set, and yet it didn’t play out, what a letdown."
...
The company’s project was still in the bidding process, and many companies were vying for the contract. As the person in charge of this project’s developnt, Felix Shaw had been very busy recently. Elizabeth White had called him countless tis urging him to visit the set, but he had no ti, which of course also beca an excuse for not having ti to date Mia Foster.
Mia Foster returned to work at her company’s headquarters. As the manager of market developnt, she also had plenty of work keeping her busy, occasionally having to entertain clients. Since getting engaged, the two had not seen each other for the better part of a month, connecting only through the occasional phone call, and usually, it was she who initiated the calls to Felix Shaw.
After dinner, Mia Foster settled on the couch with her mother to watch a TV drama. While she had occasionally visited bars with colleagues when abroad, now back in her ho country, Mia Foster wanted to spend more ti with her mother at ho.
