In a hotel in T city, Seraphina Shaw looked despondently as her mother packed the gifts they bought today into the luggage, "Mom, isn’t dad coming back with us? Why is dad so busy? Alexis’s dad drives her to school every day, why doesn’t my dad pick up?"
Vanessa Armstrong stopped packing, looked at her daughter and said, "Dad has to work a lot so he can buy pretty clothes for Seraphina. Didn’t dad promise just now that he would celebrate your birthday after work?"
"But we’re going back tomorrow, and dad isn’t coming ho with us." The seven-year-old child only knows her father is busy with work and doesn’t fully understand her and her mother’s situation.
Watching her daughter’s sad deanor, a flicker of emotion crossed Vanessa’s eyes as she closed the suitcase and said with a smile, "Wait a bit, mom will call dad and you can ask him yourself if he has ti to co ho with us."
"Okay."
Seraphina nodded and picked up the phone her mother placed on the bed, "I’ll call him now."
Vanessa took the phone, dialed Oliver Shaw’s number, and as soon as he had returned to his office, his phone started ringing.
Seeing the caller ID, he slightly furrowed his brows, and without using any greeting, asked directly, "What’s wrong?"
"Honey, Seraphina beca upset after you left, she insisted I call you."
"Give the phone to Seraphina."
"Seraphina, daddy wants to talk to you." Vanessa handed the phone to her daughter and gave her an encouraging look.
Seraphina took the phone, her lips puckering in distress the mont she brought it to her ear, "Daddy, Seraphina doesn’t want to go back, Seraphina wants to be with daddy..."
Listening to his daughter’s tearful voice, Oliver Shaw’s heart ached, but he spoke softly, "Don’t cry, Seraphina, how about dad cos over after work? Dad has already ordered a birthday cake for you, tonight he’ll take you to have Western cuisine."
"What about mom, aren’t you bringing mom too?"
Seraphina swallowed her sobs, blinking seriously as she spoke on the phone.
"Silly child," amused by Seraphina’s innocent words, Oliver Shaw laughed cheerfully, "On Seraphina’s birthday, of course, both mom and dad should be with her."
"Then dad’s not busy with work?"
"Even if dad is busy, he has to celebrate the birthday of his little princess, right?"
"Thank you, daddy," Seraphina brightened, her small mouth curling up, "You finish your work quickly, mom and I will wait for you." Hearing about the birthday cake, Seraphina had already forgotten about her wish for her dad to co ho with her.
After hanging up the phone, Seraphina returned the phone to her mom and happily said, "Mom, daddy said he ordered a birthday cake for Seraphina."
"Yes, mom knows." Vanessa smiled and nodded, aware of how important her daughter is to Oliver Shaw; he always tries to fulfill her requests unless they are excessive, and was overjoyed to learn they were having a girl.
Setting the suitcase aside, Vanessa took her daughter’s hand, "Seraphina, tell mommy, do you really want to be with daddy every day?"
"Yes." Seraphina replied without hesitation, no child in the world doesn’t want to be with their parents.
"If Seraphina wants to be with daddy every day, tell him that when you see him tonight..."
Vanessa held her daughter’s hand, teaching her a good deal of things to say.
