"Felix, I think Mia is not coming back, with your emotional intelligence..." Evander Lancaster shook his head indifferently, clicked his tongue twice, then took a sip of beer and sighed, "It’s worrying!"
"What’s wrong with my emotional intelligence? I used to have so many won around !" Felix Shaw retorted, unconvinced, and took a sip of beer.
"Felix, Mia is different from those won..."
"What’s so different?" Felix interrupted Evander before he finished, turning his head with displeasure. Mia didn’t choose him just for his handso face!
"Felix, those won want to marry into a wealthy family, whereas Mia wants to have a good life with you." Evander hit the nail on the head. Felix licked his lips and said nothing more. Evander continued, "If you want Mia to co back, you can’t be like before, spending all your ti partying outside. Mia is a mature woman and surely likes mature n, so from now on, focus more on your work. If you had your second brother’s skills, your mother wouldn’t have to endure the way that woman treated her."
Even though Evander’s words were blunt, they were spot on. If Felix had the ability, he wouldn’t have watched helplessly as his father brought that woman into the house.
After drinking so beer, Felix slowly narrowed his eyes, determined to focus more on work and be strong enough to protect the people he cares about.
The two brothers drank more beer, chatted aimlessly about gossip, and eventually fell asleep — one on the floor and one on the sofa, still clutching their cans.
...
After signing the contract successfully, they held a celebratory dinner that night. The next morning, Mia personally drove Mr. Qu to the airport. As she returned to the company and stepped into the lobby, the receptionist approached her.
"Manager Foster, Madam is looking for you."
Mia followed the staff’s gaze. In the lounge area, lody Zachary stood up as she saw Mia returning, "Mia, you’re back?"
Mia...
Seeing her mother-in-law walking towards her with a smile, Mia forced a smile and said, "What brings you here?"
"Oh, Felix worked overti last night and stayed at the company. I was bored at ho alone, so I made so food and brought lunch for both of you."
Looking at the neatly stacked lunch boxes in the eco-friendly bag on the table, Mia politely refused, "You don’t have to co all the way. It’s such a long trip; the company has a cafeteria, and there are restaurants across the street."
"That’s not the sa," lody took a shopping bag and held Mia’s wrist, heading to the elevator. "No matter how good the cafeteria food is, it’s not as tasty as homade. I know you love my cold lotus root salad, so I specially made so and brought it for you to try."
Held by lody and led to the elevator, Mia couldn’t say much, so she had no choice but to follow her into the elevator and press the button.
Entering the office, lody took the liberty of putting the eco-friendly bag on the desk, taking out each lunch box, and opening them, "Mia, this is celery with bacon. I know you like it. This is stir-fried mushrooms, and this is..."
Watching lody place dish after dish on her desk, Mia helplessly rubbed her forehead, already resolved not to have any entanglents with Felix.
"Mia, co over quickly, don’t just stand there. I heard you drove to the airport and were busy all morning. Hurry over and eat."
