Since Felix Shaw accidentally hurt himself because of Mia Foster, she didn’t have the heart to make him stay at a hotel. Before going to work, she asked him again if he needed to go to the hospital. Felix was sitting on the sofa with his legs crossed in a comical position, his hands covering that part, looking at Mia with an aggrieved expression. He said he felt much better, and going to a hospital for an injury in that area wouldn’t offer a better treatnt; it needed to heal gradually. Mia believed him and, before going to work, repeatedly reminded Felix to rest in bed. Then she drove to the office.
As soon as Mia closed the door downstairs and left, Felix almost simultaneously bounced off the sofa, walked to the window, and watched as the car gradually drove away, the corners of his lips curving into a victorious grin.
What a gullible woman, so easy to fool.
Returning to the sofa, he propped up his legs on the armrest and rocked back and forth. In his good mood, Felix even started humming a tune.
In the afternoon, Felix changed his clothes, stood in front of the mirror tying his tie, preparing to pick up Mia from work.
Mia wore a light blue dress for work, so Felix chose a light-colored suit that matched well with hers.
After fixing his tie and smoothing his hair, Felix checked both sides in the mirror to ensure everything was in place before leaving the room, whistling as he went out and hailed a taxi to Mia’s company.
After paying for the ride, he hadn’t crossed the street yet before he saw a man standing there, holding a bouquet of lilies, dressed in a white suit, with golden hair. Perhaps it was a natural aversion among n, but as Felix passed by him, he turned his head to glance mockingly at the man.
Felix stepped on the platform, pushed the revolving door, and went inside, chatting with the receptionist while waiting for Mia to finish work.
When Mia walked out of the elevator, Felix leisurely approached her. "Why are you here? Didn’t I tell you to rest at ho?" Rembering Felix’s pained expression while going to work, Mia had been worried all day. Felix, with one hand in his trouser pocket and the other resting on Mia’s arm, said, "I’m feeling much better now. I’m just unsure if it’ll manage to stand up again in the future."
Hearing Felix’s unabashed words, Mia’s expression was the perfect picture of helplessness. Luckily, they were abroad where most of her employees didn’t understand Chinese; otherwise, it would have been embarrassing.
Choosing silence, unsure what to say and worried Felix might voice sothing even more inappropriate, Mia quietly headed towards the parking lot.
"Mia!" a man’s voice sounded behind her, sohow familiar. Felix turned his head; the man standing at the company entrance earlier had made his way into the hall, approaching confidently with a bouquet of lilies.
"Steven British?" Mia furrowed her brows in confusion. "What are you doing here at the company?"
"These are for you." Steven offered the lilies to Mia and flashed a smile displaying a row of neat teeth. "Mia, am I lucky enough to invite you to dinner?"
Mia hadn’t responded before Felix answered for her, speaking in a perfect British accent, "Sorry, no ti!"
"Who are you?" Steven seed to finally notice Felix’s presence, staring at his face, thoughtfully wrinkling his brow, suddenly rembered and said, delightedly, "Oh, I rember you. We t at the restaurant last night."
"Sorry, I don’t recall!"
Felix replied unfriendly, recalling too that this man was the one who had helped Mia last night, this foreigner.
