Suddenly, she smiled, her heavily made-up eyes curved into crescent moons. "It does, but Sophie really likes it."
"Little minx, always trying to seduce ," Nicholas said, squeezing her chin playfully. Sophie turned around, wrapping herself around his arm as they continued walking down the hallway, proudly saying, "What can I do, Sophie just loves seducing Uncle Nicholas..."
Nicholas’ affection for Sophie was almost obsessive. It wasn’t just a man loving his woman; perhaps because Sophie had a pitiful background, he treated her more like a daughter, wanting to spoil her and make her a little princess whom everyone envied.
But it was precisely this indulgence that led Sophie to act recklessly, so much so that Nicholas later realized he had been too lenient. By the ti he wanted to correct it, it was already too late.
