"The other day, I brought him to the office, and we couldn’t hold back..." At this point, Ruth Hale paused, embarrassed, holding Claire Sullivan’s hand. "I know, I shouldn’t have been reckless in the office."
Ruth Hale hadn’t had a boyfriend for years and finally found one, so the passionate encounter seed natural, but in the office?
This is really inappropriate! Claire Sullivan pressed her lips together without saying anything.
"Aunt Ruth." Zoe Quinn spoke first in reproach, "How could you bring soone to the office?"
Despite her anger, she didn’t show the shyness a girl should have while saying this.
She knew about Ruth Hale’s situation since last night.
If not for Joel Quinn’s hand being smashed, Ruth Hale would have apologized to Claire Sullivan today anyway.
"Sorry, it’s my fault."
Ruth Hale said, full of apology.
"What does this have to do with Joel’s hand being smashed?" Claire Sullivan asked, puzzled.
These are clearly two different things!
"Well..."
Ruth Hale hesitated and ntioned "Serena Sullivan."
"Serena!"
Claire Sullivan found it even stranger and looked at Ruth Hale, increasingly unable to understand her words.
How did Serena get involved out of the blue!
"Serena deliberately left her watch in my office and fild a video of and my boyfriend."
Ruth Hale’s eyes reddened, gripping Claire Sullivan’s hand even tighter.
"Claire, I shouldn’t have brought soone to the office, but how could she use the video to threaten President Quinn to get kicked out of The Sullivan Corporation!"
The more she spoke, the more agitated Ruth Hale beca.
"I’ve worked tirelessly for The Sullivan Corporation over the years, even without rit, there’s hard work. As soon as she joins The Sullivan Corporation, she wants to kick out."
"I have my own studio outside, not being at The Sullivan Corporation doesn’t affect much. I just can’t accept it and don’t understand what she wants to do!"
Ruth Hale, emotionally charged, gripped Claire Sullivan’s hand to the point of pain.
"Ruth." Claire Sullivan forcefully pulled her hand out of Ruth Hale’s grasp. Tears welled in Ruth Hale’s eyes as she somberly stared into a corner, unwilling to let go.
She knew Claire Sullivan’s hand hurt, but her heart hurt more.
What was Serena? After all she did for The Sullivan Corporation, could Serena’s words really drive her out?
She couldn’t compete with Serena, but she could take it out on Claire Sullivan.
"Ruth, you’re hurting ."
Claire Sullivan couldn’t bear the pain and cried out, using more force to pull her hand away from Ruth Hale’s grasp.
"Mom." Beside her, Zoe Quinn softly expressed concern for Claire Sullivan, "Your hand is so red."
"Aunt Ruth, the one who bullied you was my sister, it has nothing to do with mom."
Ruth Hale imdiately apologized, "Claire, I’m sorry, I got too caught up."
She still wanted to hold Claire Sullivan’s hand, but Claire Sullivan didn’t give her the chance.
"You an Joel’s hand was smashed, and it’s related to Serena threatening him about firing you?"
Claire Sullivan furrowed her brow, unwilling to believe but forced to accept.
"Yes!"
"For the company, President Quinn rejected expelling ; the upcoming Brilliance Competition is so important to Zoe, so he refused."
Ruth Hale spoke with sorrow, letting the tears that had welled up for so long flow freely, one after another, looking truly pitiful.
