Serena Sullivan returned to the dining table, picked up her chopsticks again. Sohow, her eyes were red, and she struggled to force a smile. Soon, the moistness in her eyes disappeared, and she slowly resud eating.
With the door closed, Ethan Grant didn’t leave imdiately. He leaned against the wall, took out a cigarette, and started smoking.
When did he start to like cigarettes?
Was it when he knew sothing happened to her? Or when he woke up in the dark?
He couldn’t rember, he just knew that at the mont she returned, his entire life unexpectedly cracked open, revealing new possibilities.
After finishing the cigarette, he took out his phone, made a call, and then took the elevator to leave.
After dinner, Serena went back to her room to rest. A servant knocked on her door and handed sothing over.
"Ma’am, I noticed your phone screen was broken, so I bought one outside, not sure if it helps?"
Seeing the brand new screen in the servant’s hands, Serena’s eyes lit up, and she wheeled herself over, "It’ll work; I can install it myself."
Over the years, her phone had broken countless tis, and she managed to fix it bit by bit all on her own.
Replacing a screen is a small matter, simple for her.
"Thank you," Serena said with a smile, her attention focused on the phone screen, not noticing the hint of ridicule in the servant’s eyes as she took the item.
Closing the door, the servant’s face showed more contempt.
Before coming here, it was said that this apartnt was a marriage ho given to Miss Quinn by Mr. Grant.
If it were Miss Quinn, she wouldn’t need to work so hard!
Thought Mr. Grant was so fond of Serena Sullivan, but the mont they t they argued. Clearly, Mr. Grant saw her broken phone and didn’t buy her a new one; he just asked them to buy her a phone screen downstairs.
Rubbish is rubbish, no matter how beautiful, still despised.
Ethan Grant’s mood unknowingly influenced the servant’s attitude.
Serena was oblivious to all this, nestled in her room fixing her phone. In less than half an hour, she finished it and restarted the phone, with the screen clearer than before.
WeChat notifications flooded in, ssage after ssage. Without needing to open them, Serena knew that her absence from the group chat all afternoon had worried Anna Morgan and Finn Chandler.
"The phone screen was smashed by Zoe Quinn, just got it fixed."
Once Serena sent the ssage, Anna Morgan jumped in.
"Your broken phone is from four years ago, why even bother fixing it? Just replace it with a new one."
"I’ll buy you one."
Serena rejected Anna Morgan’s offer without a second thought, "No need, the phone works perfectly."
"Besides, I only use it for calls and texts, not much else!"
When she explained like this, Anna Morgan sent an irritable emoji, and Serena imdiately replied with a ’love her’ emoji.
At her lowest point in life, it was Anna and Finn who were there for her, and Serena cherished both of them deeply.
"Scheduled a hospital check-up for you tomorrow."
While chatting with Anna Morgan, Finn Chandler’s avatar popped up along with his ssage.
Getting straight to the point was Finn Chandler’s style.
"Check-up?"
Serena looked down at her legs, unwilling to go. She typed words only to delete them repeatedly, unsure of how to phrase it.
In about four years, her legs had been examined by so many doctors, always under Finn’s supervision with regular check-ups, but for what use!
Numb and without sensation, she felt them shrinking, as if bit by bit they were stealing the hope from her heart.
Should she persist with sothing that seed futile?
