Serena Sullivan prepared to leave the office when she heard hurried footsteps outside. She gripped the watch on the table tightly, ready to call for Finn Chandler and the others in case of any unexpected situation.

Though The Grant Corporation had plenty of security at night, it was unlikely anything unforeseen would happen.

The footsteps drew nearer. As Serena kept her eyes on the door, she saw the man’s aloof face, and her anxious heart imdiately settled back into place. She placed the watch back on the table.

"Why are you still here?"

Ethan Grant was the first to speak, asking with displeasure.

Serena looked at him with confusion as he entered, wondering why he had co!

Earlier, Ethan had gone to Eastwood, busy until after five in the afternoon, then was called by Julian Ford to "Tranquil Retreat" for drinks. But no matter how important the matter, it couldn’t surpass her.

"I just have a bit of work left to finish."

Being stared at by Ethan from above, Serena saw anger in his eyes. Unconsciously, she wanted to retreat, but she couldn’t.

"Mr. Grant, are you here to work overti too?"

Serena pursed her lips and smiled to calm the panic in her heart.

Looking at his cold face, Serena truly wished she could throw herself into his arms like before, softening her voice to act coy.

"Ethan, Ethan, don’t be mad. When you’re mad, I get scared."

She doesn’t dare now.

"Serena, do you want everyone in Solaria to know that I’m abusing my new wife?"

Ethan asked coldly. He was really mad and felt like giving her a good scolding.

Knowing her health wasn’t great, yet still working overti here.

"No." His questioning froze the smile on Serena’s lips, "I just want to finish my work quickly."

In the past four years, she hadn’t worked formally but had never given up on design.

Because besides dancing, designing was the only thing she could do.

"No need."

Ethan said softly. Suddenly he bent down towards Serena, and she saw his handso face enlarged, especially those deep, vortex-like eyes that seed to pull her in. Her heart skipped a beat, and before she could react, she was lifted out of the wheelchair into Ethan’s embrace.

"Ethan Grant!"

Serena exclaid in panic. She was afraid of being held like this, even if Ethan had hugged her several tis before. Moreover, he could simply push her to the elevator.

"Don’t move!" Ethan snapped. Seeing Serena’s face turn a shade paler, he found an excuse as he headed toward the door, "The elevator’s out of service, I’ll carry you downstairs."

Out of service?

When did that happen? No one ntioned it when leaving work; Serena’s thoughts were in disarray. Nonetheless, she was already being carried by Ethan towards the stairwell.

Yvette Sterling, following behind them, heard Ethan lie without batting an eye about the elevator being broken, and grinned, suppressing a laugh.

Finding such a lousy excuse just to hold soone.

She shook her head speechlessly and went to push Serena’s wheelchair. As she left the office, her gaze inadvertently fell onto the table, or rather, the shiny object on it.

The weather tonight was lovely, with countless stars. The road lights of The Grant Corporation ensured that the surroundings weren’t dim; they could see each other’s faces clearly.

Serena gazed intently. As Ethan lowered his head, she imdiately nestled closer into his embrace.

The sll of tobacco on him was strong, so strong that Serena snuggled in even closer.

It was a short walk from the design departnt to the entrance of The Grant Corporation, taking about seven or eight minutes. Ethan was still carrying a person.

Serena was much lighter than before, but she still had weight. Halfway through, headlights from an approaching car glared brightly, making Ethan’s face darken as he glared at the coming vehicle, his grip tightening.
