So, no matter how tempting The Dowager Kane’s offer was, everyone in The Sterling Family saw through it and refused.
"Serena Sullivan!" The dowager’s voice beca gloomy as she threatened Serena, "Are you going to just watch Ethan Grant go in?"
"Haha!" Serena wasn’t afraid; instead, she laughed, "Don’t you know where Ethan went early this morning!"
The Dowager Kane hadn’t seen Ethan since she ca in, she thought he was busy with other things. She was pleased to find Serena alone in the ward, easier to deal with.
What Serena said made the dowager’s body stiffen, and she realized instantly.
After what happened with Wayne Jennings last night, no matter how important Ethan Grant’s matters were, he wouldn’t leave Serena without ensuring The Sterling Family hadn’t arrived.
He would only leave first if it was related to last night’s incident and he was in a hurry to handle it before the dowager.

Since The Dowager Kane went to The Sterling Family, proposing she marry Wayne Jennings, Serena knew they were targeting her.
Having not been in the Imperial Capital for years, they had been ruthless towards her, repeatedly wanting her dead. Returning to the Imperial Capital, parading under their watch, would likely annoy them even more.
Wayne Jennings was injured, and the Kane Family would definitely not let it go easily. Since they hadn’t imdiately called the police, they were waiting to scare her and then negotiate terms with her.
Serena and Ethan Grant wouldn’t sit idly by and let it happen.
Rather than waiting for The Dowager Kane’s threat, it was better to cut off her retreat first!

Understanding the whole situation, The Dowager Kane glared coldly at Serena, hatred filled her heart.
A cripple and a bastard daughter actually tricked her.

Ethan Grant reported the incident, and the police would be coming for Wayne Jennings about now.
Wayne Jennings, being both a victim and a perpetrator, given his arrogant attitude, the police might not treat him kindly.
The Dowager Kane needed to choose whether she wanted her grandson or a standoff with Ethan Grant!

The dowager gritted her teeth, coldness seeping out from the gaps, all directed at Serena. She had led the Kane Group for so many years, but was set up and mocked by Serena, a cripple. Anger surged in her heart, trying desperately to suppress it, but she couldn’t.

Before she left the ward, she feared she might faint from anger without doing sothing about Serena.
Hearing her call, people from outside pushed the door open, followed by hurried footsteps, and then cries of pain. Finally, two n were shoved into the ward by an approaching Yaya after a few strikes.
The Dowager Kane wanted the bodyguards to deal with Serena, yet seeing her n beaten down and wailing on the floor infuriated her into dizziness. Her vision blacked out as she gripped her cane hard to steady herself, preventing imdiate fainting.
After taking a deep breath, she planned to leave and regroup before settling the score with Serena, when she heard a cold voice coming through, "Yaya, throw them out!"
