"Serena, I really don’t want to."
She emphasized.
"Dad, what about you?" Serena didn’t respond to Claire’s words but instead looked at Simon.
"Do you want to, or not?"
She asked loudly, and Simon lifted his head to et her eyes, unexpectedly not avoiding them this ti, "I want to try!"
His answer left Claire stunned and made Serena and Wyatt press their lips together.
"I’ve lost too much, I want to hold on to what little I have."
Simon continued, turning his head, his gaze falling on Claire.
Claire’s eyes imdiately welled up with tears. She and Serena had vowed they didn’t want to, but the feelings she had for Simon had never really left her over the years.
She rembered him saying he wanted a son and a daughter, and that they would rely on each other into old age.
She rembered him saying he would love her for a lifeti.
Those sweet words resurfaced in Claire’s dreams over the past twenty years.
She wanted to, but she didn’t dare!
"I don’t want to!"
Claire stood up, her voice resonating, as she looked through her tears at Serena and the others, "I cannot be with him again."
"Those pains, I’ll rember them for the rest of my life!"
The pain buried deep in her bones, how could she forget!
Simon knew this answer, he remained silent.
Today, Serena wasn’t forcing him to confess; his thoughts remained unspoken.
Actually, it was fine like this, he had a daughter, a son, and dreams of the past.
"Okay." Serena responded, watching as Claire put down her chopsticks, turned around, and went upstairs, calling her back.
"Mom, do you know sothing?"
"Twenty years ago, he abandoned us but ensured your lifelong peace."
Simon had made mistakes; his way of loving Claire was wrong.
He used the cruelest thod to protect Claire, yet caused her to hate him for a lifeti.
"I used to hate him too." Serena’s voice softened, "Hate him for abandoning you, hate him for taking away my brother, hate him for ignoring us all these years."
"But, when I woke up from the surgery and saw you all by my side, I felt that this was actually quite good."
"Claire, twenty years ago, you almost spent your whole life inside, he exchanged himself and the Ford Family to free you."
"I’m not sure if you are aware of this!"
"Whether it’s not knowing, or you’ve always been too afraid to realize!"
"You once abandoned yourself for loving him by marrying Joel, thinking you could forget all the past pains."
"But doing that was useless." Serena continued in a cold voice, "Once the dream is shattered, you still have to return to reality."
"The best way is to think clearly, to try one more ti while you still have life left, or pretend you know nothing and stay with and my brother for a lifeti!"
Claire was focused on taking care of her and Wyatt, which Serena didn’t like very much.
Everyone has their own life; she and Wyatt do, and Claire should do too.
"You’ve done many wrong things to , you have guilt, but this overwhelming compensation, I don’t like." Serena turned to look at Claire standing at the stairway entrance, "Think carefully, about how you want to live!"
"Be direct! Be decisive! It’s better for everyone!"
If Claire truly has made up her mind, then she and Simon should keep apart, each finding their own happiness, and stop circling in each other’s worlds.
Continuously turning in each other’s life will only make them both live in pain.
Fall in love again, it’s not about whether your heart is soft, it’s about whether you want this person’s future life with yours!
