Law Headquarters, 18th floor, President’s exclusive office.
Zion Prescott adjusted his gold-rimd glasses, and with great interest, glanced at the newspaper headlines.
—— Fletcher Properties’ stock price plumts, shareholders flee, what’s next for the company amid panic?
—— Young master of Fletcher Properties accused of harming a minor, how will the courts rule on such a scandalous affair?
—— Discussing the past and present of Fletcher Properties, and the impact of recent years’ housing price trends in Veridia on netizens’ mindsets.
...
Zion Prescott chuckled, curling his lips, and shook the newspaper at the man standing by the window.
"Big brother, I get it now. What’s scarier than offending you is offending your woman."
"Just look at how Fletcher Properties’ stock has plumted lately..."
"Major shareholders are scrambling to cut their losses, and now that old man Gabriel Fletcher is truly down and out. Are you planning to give Fletcher Properties to your sister-in-law as compensation?"
Hearing Zion Prescott’s words, Adrian Law, who had been gazing out the window, slowly turned around.
"Is that so? Zion, you’re joking. I intended to acquire Fletcher Properties in the first place, and it has little to do with Cecilia."
The young man casually brushed off his cufflinks, his thin lips lightly pursed. His sharp eyebrows slanted into his hairline, and his dark phoenix eyes were deeper than the darkest night.
Standing in such a luxuriously decorated room, there was an air of aloofness and isolation.
Like so... extrely dangerous beast.
...
Zion Prescott smiled faintly at his words.
Nothing to do with Cecilia...
Who would believe that?
Law Group already has a presence in the real estate industry. If not for Hansen Fletcher insisting on provoking Cecilia Vaughn, Adrian Law wouldn’t have crushed Fletcher Properties like an ant, forcing them into a corner.
Zion Prescott felt no sympathy for the Fletcher family; they had sown the seeds of their own downfall, sooner or later they would pay the price.
And Adrian Law was one who wouldn’t engage in losing deals.
If he truly wanted to acquire sothing, he might strive to do so at the lowest cost, but he would never expend so much effort and energy as he did this ti.
Such painstaking endeavors, perhaps only for Cecilia Vaughn, would he be so ticulously devoted.
...
When Fletcher Properties’ stock finally collapsed completely, Old Master Fletcher could no longer hold on and declared bankruptcy.
Adrian Law, with a sweep of his hand, consolidated the dood enterprise into the Law Group.
People were in an uproar; so said Adrian Law, the comrcial titan, had made the most calculated move at the perfect ti.
Others questioned the appropriateness of Adrian Law’s actions, as Fletcher Properties’ reputation was already in tatters, and acquiring such a company would inevitably raise doubts about Law Group’s integrity.
Adrian Law seed oblivious to any gossip, aggressively downsizing Fletcher Properties, purging nearly all corrupt employees.
Not a trace of the Fletcher family was left, effectively ending their presence in the comrcial sector.
...
Cecilia Vaughn learned about Adrian Law’s acquisition of Fletcher Properties online.
Originally, she should have been at Stellerton University on Monday, but due to an impromptu senior-year exam occupying the Art Departnt’s building, the whole departnt had the day off.
With nothing to do, Cecilia idly browsed on social dia at ho.
Upon seeing the news, she was taken aback, instinctively feeling that Adrian Law did it for her sake.
Initially, she thought Hansen Fletcher’s escapade and capture at Blue Abyss Rose were just coincidences, but upon reflection, perhaps Adrian Law had a hand in it.
The corners of her lips curved upwards.
Perhaps, long before she was even aware, that man had been silently handling things for her.
...
Anyway, finding herself free, Cecilia decided to visit Adrian Law at Law Group.
More than ever, she wanted to see this man.
But going empty-handed seed inappropriate, as if she had no justifiable reason.
Cecilia pouted, suddenly coming across a culinary video online.
It was a video by a blogger she liked, demonstrating how to make "Caral Milk Pudding". Even through the screen, Cecilia found it enticing.
...
It looked delicious.
Cecilia pondered. She had never cooked before; if she could make so desserts herself, would Adrian be pleasantly surprised?
Realizing she had all the ingredients at ho, the thought of a dessert mission flicked in her mind.
She found a saucepan to mix water and sugar, heating them until the aroma of caral erged, then stirred it evenly with chopsticks and poured it into a cherry-patterned porcelain dish.
After this, Cecilia cracked two eggs, added so milk and vanilla extract, and once the mixture boiled, poured it into the sa dish to integrate better, then placed it in the oven.
...
After setting the oven tir, Cecilia waited nervously for the pudding to be ready.
She’d never been talented in cooking, and resigned herself to the thought that if it failed, she could always buy ready-made desserts.
With a ding, the pudding was done.
Seeing the perfectly colored dessert, Cecilia’s eyes lit up. Ignoring that it was still hot, she gently tasted a spoonful.
It tasted surprisingly good!
Cecilia almost jumped with excitent; it was her first successful culinary creation!
Intent on letting Adrian have the best caral milk pudding, she made several, choosing the best one to give to him.
...
Before leaving, Cecilia changed outfits and headed to Law Headquarters.
Lacking an appointnt, the receptionist wouldn’t let her up.
Unperturbed, Cecilia calmly took out her phone, about to call Adrian, when Wyatt happened to co down.
"Wyatt!"
Cecilia cheerfully waved at him.
"Miss, what brings you here?"
Wyatt looked at her in surprise, almost addressing her as Young Madam.
"I made so desserts and wanted Adrian to try them while they’re hot. Do you want so, Wyatt?"
Wyatt’s mouth twitched; who didn’t know how Adrian cherished the Young Madam? He wouldn’t dare eat anything Cecilia made herself.
"No need, Miss. I’ve already eaten. You should save it for the Young Master."
Wyatt promptly led Cecilia to Adrian’s exclusive elevator, taking her straight to the 18th floor.
...
The receptionist was shocked as she watched Cecilia, realizing that Wyatt, the President’s special assistant, who had an extraordinary status, was deferential to Cecilia and even took her on the President’s private elevator!
The receptionist couldn’t help but gossip about Cecilia’s identity.
Rumor had it that President Law had a fiancée from Vessaria, but this girl had a classic, demure Veridian look.
Could she be the childhood sweetheart who once saved President Law’s life?
But wasn’t it said recently that she was in Vesperia...
