Stacy Sumrs looked at Cecilia Vaughn in surprise, her expression curious.
"Wow, you even managed to guess that. Before middle school, all the photos were taken by professionals. As for the ones afterward..."
Stacy paused, reached over, took the album from Cecilia’s hands, and pointed casually.
"Look, starting from this photo, they were all taken by Butler White’s daughter, Rosalind White."
"Speaking of Rosalind, although she’s Butler White’s daughter, she’s practically a half-miss of the Law Family."
...
Cecilia was taken aback by this.
"Why do you say that?"
Stacy’s expression showed a mix of emotion and gratitude.
"In the past, when Adrian was young, he and his mom were kidnapped by so ill-intentioned thugs. His mom couldn’t endure the humiliation and lost her life."
"The kidnappers used Adrian to demand ransom from the Law Family, and tied him up in a big warehouse. It was Rosalind, who was both bold and careful, and small enough to go unnoticed, who set a fire and saved him."
"At that ti, Rosalind was only 7 and Adrian was 12. Both escaped covered in soot, Adrian temporarily lost his sight and his voice was hoarse. Rosalind suffered even more, nearly burning her retinas, and still has aftereffects."
Stacy was sharp, recognizing the subtle worry in Cecilia’s heart—Rosalind indeed had a fondness for her grandson.
She lightly patted Cecilia’s shoulder, subtly reminding her.
"Cecilia, Rosalind is a great benefactor to the Law Family, and even more so to Adrian."
"That girl is now abroad furthering her studies in photography, achieving so accomplishnts in the field, and might return this year."
...
Cecilia’s lips moved slightly, understanding Stacy’s subtle hint.
No matter how Rosalind is, the grace of saving Adrian’s life amidst the flas is a debt he cannot leave unpaid. Even if she admires him, Cecilia couldn’t say anything.
Her interest in looking at the album instantly disappeared, and she nodded absentmindedly.
"Okay, Grandma, I understand."
...
Seeing Cecilia’s lack of interest, Stacy felt that being too smart was sotis burdenso.
Good-heartedly, she called Adrian Law in, intending for the couple to have a good chat.
As Adrian Law walked in, he saw the girl sitting at the edge of the bed, looking lost.
"Cecilia, what’s wrong?"
Wasn’t she just all cheerful?
Cecilia gave him a blank stare for a mont, his godlike handso visage too dazzling...
No wonder Rosalind, who grew up in the Law Family, would like him, it’s only natural...
Cecilia lowered her lashes, resting her head on his shoulder, speaking in a soft voice like floating willow fuzz.
"Adrian... can you tell , before you t , did you ever like soone?"
"... "
Adrian’s eyes darkened, just about to reply when Cecilia put her finger on his thin lips.
"Don’t answer that first, let ask you another question. When you were kidnapped as a child, didn’t you have a fondness for the girl who saved you?"
Adrian glanced at the album tossed on the bedside table and imdiately understood what was troubling Cecilia’s heart.
A slight smile tugged at his lips.
"Jealous?"
Cecilia pouted, feeling quite unhappy.
"Don’t change the subject. Do you like Butler White’s daughter or not?"
The man gently embraced the girl, his gaze sweeping over the red birthmark on her wrist, his eyes flashing with a hint of sothing Cecilia couldn’t comprehend.
That blazing fire when he was twelve; he’d never forget the stabbing pain in his eyes and the girl who held his hand, running wildly. But when he woke, everything around him had changed...
"Indeed, I had a fondness for the girl who saved then, but I don’t like Rosalind White."
???
Cecilia frowned upon hearing this, feeling Adrian’s answer was strange, like the words didn’t quite connect...
"Are you saying you have a fondness for Rosalind White, but it’s just gratitude?"
Adrian smiled without speaking. Under Cecilia’s relentless questioning, he finally laughed.
"Silly girl, if there was any possibility between her and , we wouldn’t have the bond we do now."
...
Cecilia felt a sudden sweetness in her heart, realizing she was being quite unreasonable today.
Everyone has a past, even she isn’t exempt; as long as this man’s present and future belong to her, it’s enough.
...
When Adrian and Cecilia went downstairs together, Stacy imdiately understood the couple had reconciled.
Not bad, not bad.
Harmony at ho brings prosperity.
"Grandma, it’s getting late. We’re about to leave."
"Ah, you’re not staying the night?"
Stacy felt disappointed, but there was nothing she could do about Adrian’s decision, so she helped Cecilia pack their bags.
"Here, Cecilia, this is the new tea from the Law Family, slls wonderful."
"And this packet is honey soone gifted us, it’s of good quality, rember to take it."
Seeing bag after bag, Cecilia felt both amused and exasperated.
"Grandma, there’s too much, please keep so for yourselves."
Stacy gave Cecilia a look. How could this silly child push away good things? She shoved a big red envelope to Cecilia, too.
"Not just these, Grandma almost forgot, take this as another eting gift."
...
The heavy red envelope clearly had weight, leaving Cecilia feeling that the elder’s enthusiasm was excessive.
"I don’t want it..."
"You must take it! This is Grandma’s token of affection, you know?"
"Today, only Grandma is here to welco you to the Law Family, don’t take it the wrong way. Given your special status, Adrian wants to protect you, hence not revealing it to others for now."
Originally, she didn’t understand why her grandson chose a day when Frank Law, Preston Law, and Mabel Keaton were all out, but now she finally realized his considerate intention.
Adrian’s unreliable dad and stepmother were bad enough, and even old-fashioned Preston Law was an issue; all this was to protect Cecilia.
Cecilia felt emotional, deeply touched.
"Okay, Grandma, I understand."
She never thought Stacy could be so open-minded and comforting, even making her think of her own grandmother.
...
Cecilia hugged Stacy tightly, and the old lady laughed, suddenly tapping her head.
"Oh dear, I almost forgot the special gift I prepared."
Cecilia was startled, seeing Stacy’s face sport a mysteriously suspicious smile as she handed her a large red box.
"Co, open it up."
That look was so odd...
Curiously, Cecilia opened the box, and what she saw made her scalp tingle.
Oh my god!
Inside, neatly arranged, were all sorts of marital intimacy items.
There was a bikini, a long jade piece, and even a canister marked with ’XX enhancers’...
Cecilia’s mouth twitched.
"Grandma, you’re so inappropriate!"
