Hearing that gentle and soft voice, Cecilia Vaughn’s face changed, and an ominous premonition rose abruptly in her heart.
It couldn’t be such a coincidence, right? Almost no one knew about her coming to the countryside of Veridia City to visit her grandmother, so how could Fiona Vaughn also be here?
...
Frowning, Cecilia turned around, and there she saw Fiona Vaughn’s face filled with a smiling expression.
Perhaps to fit in with the Lantern Festival, Fiona was unusually dressed in a light pink ancient costu.
Her figure was lively and graceful; fearing to be recognized by fans, she wore a veil of the sa color on her face. Against the backdrop of the picturesque scenery of the small bridges and flowing water, she not only didn’t look out of place but instead resembled a fairy painting, quite captivating.
"Sister, it really is a fated encounter by the heavens. I was just thinking how nice it would be if you and Tyson were here to see this beautiful Lantern Festival."
Seeing Fiona’s fake smile, Cecilia’s face turned cold and stern.
"Sorry, the lanterns are indeed beautiful, but running into you is really a flaw."
With such a sarcastic remark from Cecilia, Fiona’s smile remained charming and unchanged.
"Sister, you really know how to joke."
...
Cecilia didn’t want to talk much with such a buzzkill; she still needed to continue looking for Adrian Law.
But just as she was about to leave, suddenly, a haughty female voice ca to her ears.
"Oh, I was wondering who Fiona was talking to, so it’s you, Cecilia Vaughn!"
Cecilia’s expression was icy cold. She turned her head and saw Chloe Alden and Katherine North walking towards her.
Chloe ca empty-handed, while Katherine was carrying a long and short rifle, holding three servings of milk tea. Her pretty face was drenched in sweat, clearly running errands for Chloe and Fiona.
Cecilia wasn’t interested in getting involved with their drama, but seeing her ignore them, Chloe grew even more resentful.
"How dare you ignore ! Do you not have ears?"
Chloe’s words were aggressive and sarcastic; she definitely didn’t want Cecilia to just walk away and imdiately blocked her path.
"Cecilia Vaughn, you are really shaless!"
"When the Student Council was planning the interview in the ancient town, I didn’t pick you in the PR departnt, yet you shalessly ca on your own!"
Cecilia gave Chloe an odd look, then glanced over at Katherine, who was drenched in sweat with various photography tools on her back. A mocking sneer appeared on her lips.
"Eldest Miss Alden, even though you’re the Vice President of the Student Council, you’re too self-delusional!"
Only an idiot would be happy to work with Chloe Alden!
Cecilia rembered clearly that during the eting, Chloe had selected two male students, yet all these heavy photography equipnt were left to Katherine to carry.
Of course, Cecilia couldn’t feel any sympathy for a petty person like Katherine; she could only say that evil people grind against each other.
...
Chloe looked at Cecilia’s indifferent deanor and thus seethed with fury.
"Cecilia Vaughn, what are you so smug about? You failed to get selected for the interview because you’re incompetent, and now you sneak over here pretending to be noble!"
"Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you have a pretty face. You probably don’t even know, the new campus beauty title went to Katherine, and you didn’t even make it to the top five!"
Beside Chloe, Katherine, although full of grievances due to being ordered around, couldn’t help but feel a bit proud when she thought about the vote manipulation for the campus beauty contest.
For the title of campus beauty, she endured all these hardships!
Katherine and Chloe both looked proudly at Cecilia, trying to find even a trace of disappointnt or anger on her face.
...
However, they were destined to be disappointed, as Cecilia’s expression remained calm throughout.
She glanced at Chloe, as if watching a monkey perform.
"Have you said enough? A good dog doesn’t block the way."
"How dare you say that to —"
Chloe’s face turned from red to pale and quickly to a livid color. Furious, she raised her hand, intending to slap Cecilia.
Cecilia, being nimble, naturally didn’t take this woman’s little trick to heart.
As she was about to sidestep it, Fiona, who had been silent all the while, suddenly rushed out.
"Chloe, calm down; don’t hit Sister. Her temper has always been bad..."
Fiona looked pitiful, and with those simple words, she firmly nailed Cecilia to the stigma of having a "bad temper," as if these conflicts were all Cecilia’s own doing.
...
Cecilia had long seen through her stepsister’s manipulative nature, and a cold smile tugged at her lips.
anwhile, Chloe beca even more displeased.
"Fiona, you’re too kind-hearted. Why stop ? A woman like her deserves a beating! Look, she’s still sneering, not showing a hint of gratitude!"
Fiona wiped her eyes as if wounded, allowing tears to quickly well up in her eyes.
"Sister has never liked , I know..."
Chloe felt extre pity, and Katherine, standing beside them, was shocked with her mouth agape. What had she just heard?
The national goddess Fiona Vaughn is actually sisters with Cecilia Vaughn?!
But it seed their relationship wasn’t good at all.
...
Seeing Fiona putting on a pitiful act, Cecilia felt intensely disgusted. She didn’t have ti for these fake sisterhood acts and lifted her foot to leave.
However, the mont Fiona moved to wipe her tears, she suddenly rushed toward Cecilia.
"Sister, don’t leave!"
"Waaah, Sister, are you still angry at ? Mom’s face got ruined because of you, and you still show no remorse?"
"Please, won’t you go see Mom? Dad got sick from anger, but our whole family misses you dearly."
"Sister, please co back..."
Fiona cried with such sorrow, and the tears that stained the light pink veil added even more to her pitiful beauty.
By now, passersby were attracted to the commotion here, and with Cecilia, Fiona, Chloe, and Katherine all being beautiful, a large crowd soon gathered to watch.
Seeing the crowd growing larger and larger around her, Cecilia furrowed her brows tightly and scolded Fiona sharply.
"I don’t have ti to act with you, Fiona, get out of my way!"
Fiona, as if greatly wronged, suddenly grabbed Cecilia’s arm.
"Sister, why did you abandon our family—"
Seeing Fiona clutching her arm, Cecilia’s forehead twitched, especially since a riverbank was right behind her. She instantly thought Fiona was trying to push her into the water!
The survival instincts honed in prison over the years made Cecilia subconsciously fling her off!
...
To be fair, Cecilia didn’t exert much force, but Fiona seed to float weightlessly, her body swaying before that fragile figure toppled toward the river!
"Sister, so you really hate this much..."
Fiona’s face turned pale, the tear stains on her pallid complexion looked pitiful.
That fragile body, like a butterfly, fell into the water...
