Shane was coming back today, and Audrey Sutton had arranged a ti to pick him up at the airport.
The flight was set to arrive at around three in the afternoon, so Audrey left right after lunch.
Instead of heading straight to the airport, she stopped by a nearby flower shop.
She wasn’t sure if Clarissa Morgan was on the sa flight as Shane, but if they did happen to bump into each other at the airport, she could gift Shane a bouquet, which would subtly overshadow Clarissa’s presence.
Even if Shane asked her about it, she had already thought of an excuse, just like she told him before: there are many paparazzi at the airport, gifting flowers was for show.
Outside the flower shop, a vivid array of colorful flowers was on display. As she approached the entrance, she accidentally bumped into soone coming out.
Seeing the bouquet scattered on the ground after the collision, Audrey hastily apologized, "I’m sorry! I’m sorry!"
Raising her head, she saw the bouquet’s owner—a young man who appeared to be in his early twenties, not much shorter than Shane, with eye-catching ash-purple hair. He wore a light purple suit paired with a white shirt, perfectly matching the bouquet of purple forget--nots wrapped in brown paper.
The man wore a black mask, concealing his face and expression,
yet his peach-blossom eyes seed to hold a hint of a smile as he gazed at Audrey.
Audrey had always been shy in front of unfamiliar n. Being stared at like this made her blush unconsciously. She bent down to pick up the bouquet from the ground, carefully checked it to ensure it wasn’t damaged, and then handed it back to the man, apologizing, "...Please check if it got damaged. If it did, feel free to pick another one. I’ll pay for it."
The man chuckled lightly and nodded, saying, "Sure, you pick for ."
Audrey was taken aback, thinking how inconsiderate this person was.
She was just being polite. There was hardly any damage to the flowers. Wouldn’t a normal person just say "it’s okay" and walk away with the flowers?
Yet this man, as if it were only natural, returned to the store and told Audrey, "Go ahead and pick."
Audrey quietly rolled her eyes and told the shop assistant, "Could you please wrap a new bouquet of this type of flower for ?"
"Sure, please wait a mont. Feel free to browse and see if there’s anything else you need. We’re offering a 20% discount on purchases over a thousand."
Audrey then turned to pick flowers for Shane but noticed the man was tailing her the entire ti, which was rather odd.
Did she encounter so kind of weirdo?
She dawdled until the shop assistant finished wrapping the bouquet. After paying, she handed the flowers to the man, feeling uncomfortable but maintaining a polite tone, "Is this satisfactory, sir?"
The man smiled, saying, "They suit you. This bouquet is for you."
Audrey: "?"
Seeing her puzzled look, the man smiled more broadly and asked, "You don’t recognize ?"
Audrey raised her eyebrows, her face full of confusion.
Was she supposed to recognize him?
Even though the man wore a mask over half of his face, his expressive peach-blossom eyes conveyed a smile that was quite captivating, like a character out of a manga.
"We’ll et again," the man said before turning to leave the store.
Audrey looked down at the bouquet in her hand, bewildered.
Was there sothing wrong with this guy?
She initially intended to buy roses, but she couldn’t go to the airport holding two bouquets.
The bouquet of forget--nots in her hand was decent enough and would save so money. She decided to take it to the airport.
Audrey suddenly realized perhaps she, too, should start wearing a mask when going out. Since appearing in a few news articles with Shane, the paparazzi had been following her almost as much as a popular celebrity.
Standing among the crowd at the arrivals gate, Audrey peered towards the exit.
After nearly half an hour, she finally saw the exceptionally tall and easily noticeable man appear.
Audrey eagerly waved at him, standing on tiptoe. Shane, seemingly searching for her since he got out, quickly spotted her enthusiastic waving.
The cold expression on his face instantly lted into a gentle smile.
With an amiable smile, Audrey scanned Shane’s entourage carefully.
This was likely a business trip for the Warner Group, so naturally, Lan Irving wasn’t present.
The team consisted of male secretaries and translators, and the only one Audrey recognized was Lucian Quinn.
Though the absence of won should have reassured Audrey, the impressive looks and build of these n made her uneasy.
Having read too many comic books and novels, Audrey’s mind imdiately conjured up scenarios of a boss and his male companions.
Could it be that Shane... wasn’t into won?
"Why are you spacing out? Aren’t the flowers for ?"
Audrey snapped out of her thoughts, stepping forward to hand the bouquet to Shane, looking up at him with a smile, "Welco back."
Whether it was those simple four words or her breezy smile, sothing filled Shane’s heart to the brim.
The worries and fatigue from the past days vanished the mont he saw her smile, "You’ve beco more thoughtful, huh? Even bought flowers."
Audrey repeated his previous excuse in a low voice, "Isn’t this what you taught ? There are many paparazzi at the airport; it’s all for show."
Shane, initially in a good mood, felt his spirits drop after hearing that. The delicate, colorful flowers in his hand seed less appealing.
Before Audrey could notice his subtle disappointnt, she spotted Clarissa Morgan, wearing sunglasses and a mask, erging from the terminal.
Before her marriage, Clarissa was already a dance star. After becoming Mrs. Sterling, her fa naturally soared to new heights.
The paparazzi, who had been waiting for such an opportunity, sward toward Clarissa, snapping photos.
People who didn’t even recognize her also took out their phones and joined in, not knowing why but still snapping away just because others were.
Clearly, Clarissa loved the adoration and attention, boldly removing her sunglasses and mask and graciously posing, exuding an approachable yet elegant charm.
Online, she was idolized as an artist, with virtually no negative news or comnts. Everyone thought she was the epito of a well-mannered, exceptionally talented girl, almost perfect.
If Audrey didn’t know Clarissa’s true nature, she might have thought the sa.
"Did she also fly on the sa plane as you?" Audrey asked Shane, watching Clarissa in the distance.
Shane turned to follow her gaze, realizing who she was referring to, nodded, and openly admitted, "Seems like it, spotted her during boarding."
Audrey feigned surprise, "...She was also in Paris? What a coincidence."
