Before Shane Warner returned, Audrey Sutton had thought of countless things she wanted to confront him about, to ask him what exactly he wanted to do.

In her mind, she had fiercely asked him countless tis if he wanted a divorce.

But when she finally saw him return after a few days of longing, those words were imdiately stuck in her throat.

"You... you’re back?" Audrey stood up and quietly asked him.

Her tone was completely devoid of the bold "let’s just divorce" attitude she had when she was rehearsing alone in her mind earlier.

Shane Warner changed his shoes and glanced at her, his gaze and tone equally indifferent: "Hmm."

Audrey was taken aback and thought, how many days has it been? She thought he would have already cald down.

It seed that things were a bit tricky.

Shane Warner didn’t linger long in the living room; he just carried his suitcase upstairs.

General didn’t hide his longing for him at all, wagging his tail and circling Shane Warner’s legs from the mont he entered the house.

As Shane Warner walked upstairs, General followed him closely.

At this mont, Audrey suddenly wished she could turn into a dog, so that she wouldn’t have to hide her affection and longing for him with fake emotions like she was now.

Audrey glanced at Pea, who was indifferently sleeping on the sofa, and suddenly felt that being a proud cat seed nice as well.

But unfortunately, she was a human, one who wasn’t favored.

Audrey waited in the living room, thinking he might co downstairs to cook sothing to eat.

But after waiting for over an hour, there was no sign of him.

Could he have fallen asleep?

As she hesitated whether to go upstairs to look for him, she heard footsteps and saw him coming down the stairs wearing a black robe.

Audrey hurriedly pretended to be focused on watching TV, sneaking a glance at him indifferently, only to find he was treating her like air.

He walked straight to the cabinet holding beverages, grabbed a bottle of energy drink, and was about to head back upstairs.

Audrey felt a bit restless seeing this and stood up to call out to Shane Warner, who was already halfway up the stairs: "Wait..."

Shane Warner stopped and looked back at her, his expression cold.

Audrey took a couple of steps towards him, mustering up all her courage to say to the ice-cold aura surrounding him: "...Can we talk?"

Shane Warner didn’t make a sound, nor did he walk away, just maintained his stance, looking at her, waiting for her to speak.

Audrey felt she had already lowered herself enough, yet he still had that high-and-mighty attitude.

Making her feet reluctant to move any closer to him.

He stood by the staircase railing, looking down at her.

Audrey stood at the foot of the stairs, looking up at him, organizing her thoughts. After a mont of silence, she finally asked: "Do you... have a crush on soone?"

Shane Warner looked at her, her eyes misty as soon as she asked the question. His gaze faltered slightly, and he lowered his eyes to ask: "Why do you think that?"

She said: "You’re different from before."

He remained silent without any explanation.

Audrey wished so much that he would say sothing, even if it was just a perfunctory "I’ve been busy, not in the mood," but he didn’t even want to speak to her.

Audrey had always thought that as long as he didn’t initiate a divorce, she would just drag the marriage on for as long as possible.

But now she realized that when one person in a marriage wants to let go and leave, clinging on will only cause more pain for both.

This marriage never had a foundation of love, so there’s nothing from the past to reminisce about.

Not even a suitable excuse to hold on.

In the silence, Shane Warner’s eyes were fixed on Audrey’s face. In those few seconds, he couldn’t read the complex emotions in her eyes for the first ti.

It was like she was agonizing over sothing.

Shane Warner recalled the news he stopped a couple of days ago, uncertain how much of it was true or false, but the photos alone were enough to shatter his last bit of resolve.

The background of the photo was a quiet, tree-lined path behind her school, the one they used to pass when they jogged together in the morning.

In the photo, her back was turned to the cara, but the man whose face was visible was Simon Sue, clearly showing his pampering smile.

There was also a photo of Simon Sue raising his hand to ruffle her hair, an unspoken tenderness.

Such love is perhaps what every girl dreams of, right?

Shane Warner took a deep breath, breaking the silence: "If you et soone suitable, rember to tell ."

Audrey was stunned, her dark eyes filled with disbelief, her eyelashes trembling, her eyes imdiately misting over. Her voice, painstakingly restrained, asked him cautiously: "Do you an... to divorce?"

When she said those two words, Audrey felt as though a hamr had driven a sharp nail into her heart.

Shane Warner felt the sa.

Not wanting to see her furrowed brows anymore, Shane Warner turned and continued upstairs, casually tossing a response: "I respect your decision."

As he turned away, Audrey’s tears finally fell uncontrollably, covering her mouth as she sobbed silently.

She crouched on the floor crying for a long ti, yet he never ca back down to look at her.

It seed the dream was over.

That night, Audrey returned to the dorm. When Flora and the others asked, she simply said that Shane Warner was on a business trip and she didn’t want to stay ho alone.

During the day, she hid her emotions, looking like nothing was wrong, but at night, under the covers, her pillow was never dry.

She went over their chat history once more, realizing they hadn’t contacted each other for almost a week, Audrey steeled herself and deleted all the ssages.

She opened his profile page, staring at the word "delete" for a long ti, but ultimately couldn’t bring herself to click it.

She set a deadline for the marriage in her heart; if he remained indifferent by the weekend, she would arrange for them to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau for a divorce on Monday.

This weekend was bound to be hard to get through.

Audrey didn’t dare go ho either. If she went alone, her mom would surely ask why Shane Warner didn’t co.

She didn’t want to ntion him now.

Even though she was thinking about him every mont.

Seraphina Vaughn’s dad was having a birthday, she went ho for lunch, Flora went on a date, Barry Barrett had a photoshoot with a photography master.

Audrey wandered around the school cafeteria by herself, almost going to every window, but in the end, she just packed a bowl of noodles.

"Eating so frugally? You’ve seed down these past few days, did you have a fight with your husband?"

Audrey turned to glance at Simon Sue, who appeared behind her at so point, and rolled her eyes in annoyance, too lazy to even talk to him. She picked up her packed food and was about to leave the dining hall.

But Simon Sue suddenly said: "I saw your husband."

Audrey stopped in her tracks, imdiately scanning the surroundings, only to hear Simon Sue chuckling and saying: "I said I saw him, didn’t say I saw him here, it was at the school gate."

"When?" Audrey hurriedly asked.

Simon Sue glanced at his watch and chuckled: "About five or six minutes ago."

Hearing this, Audrey hurriedly left, jogging all the way to the school gate...
