In front of others, Shane rarely showed such a clear smile in his eyes. He looked quite humble and said, "It’s the sa, she also gives a hard ti now and then."

"Think about it, this woman got married and revolves around you all day. If she doesn’t play with you, then she’d have to play with other n, and you wouldn’t like that."

Shane chuckled and nodded, "That’s true."

Imagine if one day Audrey Sutton suddenly beca very sensible, stopped throwing little tantrums or acting spoilt, he’d actually feel quite upset.

He just wanted her to continue being who she is now; he didn’t need her to be too sensible or too smart. He wanted her to cry when she wanted to cry, and laugh when she wanted to laugh.

People grow and mature not because of age, but because of experiences, and he didn’t want her to go through the things that would make her grow up too soon.

"You guys don’t have it that bad. My wife is the tough one. I told her I had a business dinner tonight, and she didn’t believe it at all. She almost blew up my phone with calls, and no matter how I explained, she wouldn’t believe , so I had to turn off my phone."

A friend beside him joked, "Isn’t that because you have a history? Otherwise, why would your wife be so distrustful?"

"How many years ago was that? Last ti I went on a business trip with friends, and she hired a private investigator to check on , then reported to the police for solicitation. In the end, it was deed a false report, and I had to spend half a day at the station to sort it out. You tell , what is that about?"

"As long as I give her enough money, she turns a blind eye to these things."

"Speaking of which, I really admire the Third Young Master. Whether before or after marriage, he’s never ssed around outside."

"He has such a little fairy at ho, how could those re mortals outside catch his eye?"

Shane smiled faintly without speaking, every microexpression of his filled with happiness.

In fact, he was thinking, while Audrey Sutton’s actions weren’t as crazy as those described just now, she’s certainly tipped over the vinegar jar more than once or twice, checked on his whereabouts, and was even caught by her brother with suspicions of solicitation.

But it all boiled down to her lack of security, which caused her to have so many doubts. But now it’s much better, at least in this period, he felt their relationship had ward up a little.

He couldn’t tell if it was just his imagination, but after she drunkenly confessed "I like you" that night, he’d already committed to her.

Shane replied to Audrey Sutton with a "Save so for " and then shifted the conversation to work matters, hoping to finish early and go back to enjoy the al his wife had prepared.

Lucian Quinn, a single soul, couldn’t join in when everyone was talking about their wives, and only then did he take out the materials to start discussing with the people opposite him.

The snow was falling again.

Audrey Sutton, holding Pea in her arms, was sitting on the edge of the living room carpet with General, looking out the window at the road Shane would take when coming ho.

General sat obediently, while Pea’s fluffy tail occasionally swept across General’s body.

At this mont, Audrey Sutton’s heart was not filled with the loneliness of being alone in an empty house but with warmth,

because she knew the one she awaited in her heart would soon return.

The ti waiting for him to return was happiness for her.

Past seven o’clock.

Through the glass, she could distinctly see a beam of car lights passing by the road outside the yard, followed by the sound of the car approaching the house.

Knowing he was back, Audrey Sutton hurriedly stood up.

General reacted even faster than she did, already running to the door, wagging his tail in anticipation.

As Audrey Sutton opened the door, Shane was just getting out of the car.

He looked up and saw Audrey Sutton holding Pea standing by the door, and General imdiately darted to his feet, circling around his legs without restraint.

General always did this, greeting him the mont he returned, but Shane found it was Audrey Sutton standing by the door with a smile that amused him.

Even without exchange, he could feel she was in a good mood today.

"Why are you back so early?" Audrey Sutton asked after setting his slippers by the door.

Shane walked over and glanced at Audrey Sutton, who seed unusually attentive, "Made trouble again?"

"Huh?" Audrey Sutton arranged the slippers, looking up at him puzzled, "No, I didn’t."

Shane closed the door, blocking the cold wind from outside, took off his coat, and Audrey Sutton imdiately extended her hand to take it, shook off the snowflakes, and hung it by the door.

As he changed his shoes, Shane sighed softly, "You’re behaving today."

Audrey Sutton paused in organizing the clothes and, realizing her behavior seed a bit too pleasing, insisted, "I just wanted a good al, so I made a bit more for you to try."

"So does that an I usually neglect you?"

"Yeah, we’re humans, not rabbits. We can’t just eat greens all the ti."

Shane changed into his shoes and walked towards the dining table, saying, "When haven’t you eaten at?"

"...Anyway, I just wasn’t satisfied. I’ll go serve the soup; the dishes must be cold. You go heat them up."

Shane looked at the dishes on the table, obviously untouched since she took the photos, "You haven’t eaten yet?"

Audrey Sutton didn’t admit she waited for him with an empty stomach, "I had so milk tea, so I’m not hungry yet."

"Gurgle—" The rumble from her stomach imdiately contradicted her words, and Audrey Sutton looked embarrassed, but quickly added, "Now I’m hungry, hurry up and warm the dishes."

Seeing her lack of honesty made Shane chuckle, finding her sowhat lovable despite not knowing how long she planned to keep it up.

He took off his suit jacket, rolled up his shirt sleeves to his forearms, and started warming the dishes.

Audrey Sutton served the soup, glancing at Shane a few more tis.

In his suit, he was elegant enough for any gathering; out of it, he graced the kitchen with ease.

She felt like she was completely enamored with this man, finding everything he did a form of art.

"Is your foot feeling better?" He reached for the rice bowl she served, asking softly.

Audrey Sutton answered honestly, "It doesn’t hurt when I don’t move, but it’s uncomfortable when I walk."

"Later, soak your foot in warm water and apply more dicine."

"Okay."

Watching Shane take a bite of the food, Audrey Sutton eagerly asked, "How does it taste?"

"It’s alright."

"This is my grandma’s homade chili sauce, you can’t find this flavor outside."

"The chili sauce is good."

Overall, he just wouldn’t praise her cooking or say the dishes were delicious.

Audrey Sutton let out a small grunt, sat across from him, and ate while muttering, "You’re just picky because you’re not hungry. If you were, everything would taste great."

Shane: "Are you implying I eat anything when I’m hungry?"

Audrey Sutton paused, looking up at his slightly teasing gaze. She felt like her innocent comnt had been twisted, her face flushed slightly as she pretended not to understand, "You know it in your heart!"
