That day, just like usual, Audrey Sutton was carrying a lunch box to deliver lunch to Shane Warner.

Shane had texted her in the morning, telling her to go directly to Starfield at noon because he was handling business there today.

It’s the end of the year, and Starfield is busy launching new products for the Spring Festival, so things have been quite hectic recently.

It had been so ti since Audrey last visited Starfield, and there were indeed a few changes.

The girls at the reception had all been replaced, but they clearly recognized Audrey, warmly greeting her as she arrived.

"Madam, President Warner left a few minutes ago and instructed us to take you to his office so you can wait for him there. He’ll be back shortly."

"No worries, you all are busy, I’ll go up by myself." Audrey walked a couple of steps away, then curiously asked, "Did he go out alone?"

She was wondering if Lan Irving would be sticking closely to Shane, now that he’s hard to visit Starfield.

The receptionist answered honestly, without suspicion, "He went out with President Bishop."

"Oh... then I’ll go upstairs to wait for him."

Audrey took the elevator upstairs. Since it was lunchti at the company, there were not many people in the offices.

Rembering where Lan Irving’s office was, Audrey glanced inside as she passed by. There were only two girls there, with no sign of Lan Irving.

"Madam."

Lan Irving’s voice sounded from behind, startling Audrey slightly as she looked back.

She straightened her posture imdiately and smiled at Lan Irving, saying, "Secretary Irving, oh!"

Lan Irving gave Audrey a once-over and lightly chuckled, "To deliver als for President Warner three tis a day, Madam must be quite carefree."

She caught the implication in Lan Irving’s words, hinting that her presence didn’t contribute much to Shane Warner, unlike a secretary who shared his work burden.

Though sotis Audrey herself had similar thoughts, she couldn’t allow this woman to feel too triumphant in front of her. Audrey gave a charmingly harmless smile and said to Lan Irving, "Taking care of my husband’s als and daily needs is no leisurely task. He’s the kind of guy who has very high standards, be it for people around him or little things in life. He says he just loves my cooking, and nothing from five-star chefs outside suits his taste, so I have no choice but to bring him his als."

Lan Irving’s smile remained on her face, though jealousy was subtly building within her.

Recalling since Shane Warner had co to the company in the morning, whether it was etings or one-on-one instructions, he hadn’t directly spoken or even glanced at her once.

She had suggested accompanying him for errands outside, but he flatly declined.

Lan Irving could sense Shane deliberately avoiding her, and in her mind, it’s certainly the woman before her who incited such change.

"My husband should be back soon, so I’ll end our chat here, Secretary Irving." Audrey waved her hand at Lan Irving, her smile seemingly sweet but shadowed by a hint of triumph.

Turning around, she walked straight to Shane Warner’s office.

Soon Shane returned from outside, and Audrey had already laid out the food on the coffee table.

Unexpectedly, Julian Bishop ca along too, but thankfully there was extra food. Audrey set aside a bowl for soup and offered Julian a bowl of rice, "Mr. Bishop, please join us."

She got out two pairs of chopsticks, initially intending just to accompany Shane while he ate, but now they were put to good use.

Julian hesitated and glanced at Shane, who said, "You might as well skip going to the restaurant and join us for a bite. My wife is quite good at cooking."

The final comnt sounded pleasing to Audrey, who sat down and served each of them a cup of tea, pointing to the dishes on the table saying, "The fish was made by my mom, and the rest were cooked by ."

Julian picked up his chopsticks and tasted it, smiling as he praised Audrey, "Indeed, the taste is quite good; no wonder Shane hasn’t been keen to go out for als lately."

Audrey chuckled, "He always complains my cooking isn’t good enough."

Shane glanced at her, comnting blandly, "Soone says a flattering word, and you’re quick to climb up the pole?"

Julian laughed, "It’s genuinely delicious."

"There you go, Mr. Bishop is much more straightforward than you."

"Go play your gas."

Audrey huffed, "You think I’m a nuisance, but I don’t want to stay here either. I’m leaving."

Seeing her grab her bag and poised to leave, Shane finally set his chopsticks down and called out to her, "Where are you going?"

"Shopping with Flora."

"Where are you having dinner?"

"Out with Flora. You handle dinner yourself tonight. If I’m in a good mood, I might bring you so late-night snacks."

"Rember to take General out for a walk if you have ti."

Audrey acknowledged with a nod and pushed the door open to leave the office.

Watching Audrey’s departing figure, Julian smiled slightly, saying, "This girl is quite special, isn’t she?"

Shane withdrew his gaze, chuckled and replied, "She’s particularly troubleso."

"Seeing how often you smile now, you rarely smiled before eting her."

"Is that so?" Shane too had noticed this but was reluctant to admit it publicly.

...

Audrey arranged to et Flora Lane at a bus stop.

Flora had a fight with her family recently, leading to a complete personality change; her focus was no longer just on handso guys but instead on earning money.

She’s been imrsed in work lately, continually complaining in the group about how exhausting it was.

The salary currently only covers rent and food, with no purchases of costics recently. Fortunately, she had so savings left in her account to reuse; for the New Year, she must buy so outfits for the celebrations.

Although she wasn’t planning to return for the New Year.

Audrey felt that, given Flora’s family situation, her current outlook was relatively optimistic.

Her biological father didn’t care for her, and together with her stepmother, they plotted against her, treating her purely as bait to catch a wealthy husband.

Upon knowing Flora worked outside, her dad even asked her for half her salary as a contribution to buy a house for her stepmother’s eldest son to marry.

What nonsense.

The entire family shalessly lacked decency.

In the mall, each holding a cup of milk tea, the two walked one after another up the escalator.

Flora said to Audrey, "Audrey, does your husband’s company need any more people? Is there a position I could do? Let sneak in."

Audrey replied, "Didn’t you say you’ve adapted and it’s okay with your current job? Why do you suddenly want to switch jobs?"

"Though I’ve adapted to the work, there’s a pesky fly around , annoying as heck."

"Is it the guy you ntioned in the group who wanted to pursue you?"

Flora nodded, "At first, I just thought he was a bit creepy; later I found out he has a wife and kids in another place and wants to start sothing small here. Isn’t that disgusting?"
