The next day, Audrey Sutton, still in her dreamland, was woken up by Shane Warner. In a daze, she heard him say, "I left breakfast in the microwave. I’ve got sothing to do this morning, so I won’t be taking you to school. I called the driver, so hurry up, have breakfast, and head to school."

Audrey looked at the gloomy sky outside, rubbed her eyes, and asked, "What ti is it?"

Shane Warner: "The class bell rings in half an hour."

"What?!" Audrey instantly woke up, grabbed her phone to check, and confird that Shane wasn’t lying. As she flung the covers aside and got out of bed, she grumbled, "I’ve slept so long? Why didn’t you wake earlier?"

"I calculated. Five minutes to wash up, ten minutes to eat breakfast, and fifteen minutes is enough for you to get to the classroom."

Audrey’s voice ca from the bathroom: "Do you think I’m you?!"

Shane chuckled, "Just spend less ti choosing clothes. Don’t keep changing outfits. I’m not waiting for you, I’m leaving first."

Audrey didn’t have ti to deal with Shane, hurriedly washed up, and as she rushed out of the bathroom, she didn’t bother to pick out clothes. Seeing today’s gloomy and cold weather, she opted for sothing warr.

As she went downstairs, she heard the driver’s car arrive. She took the breakfast out of the microwave, packed it in a bag, changed her shoes, and headed out the door.

Sitting in the car, she took a couple of bites of the vegetable pancake in her hand. Shane had thoughtfully made it not greasy, crispy, and sweet, which was her usual favorite. But after a couple of bites, she felt a bit uncomfortable, fearing she might want to throw up again, so she put the pancake back in the bag, planning to eat it later when hunger hits.

By squeezing the breakfast ti, she had plenty of ti to reach school.

As Audrey arrived at the base of the teaching building, students were leisurely walking in one by one.

Phoebe King hadn’t shown up yet; perhaps she was already upstairs saving seats.

Audrey got out of the car, said goodbye to the driver, and with her textbooks and the bagged vegetable pancake, walked toward the teaching building.

"Ahem—"

After just a few steps, she heard a deliberate cough from not far away, as if soone wanted to attract attention.

Audrey instinctively glanced in that direction, and then her feet stopped moving.

Twenty minutes ago, Shane had told her he had things to do and left early, yet here he was, standing by his car, holding a bouquet of roses, with a playful smile watching her.

Audrey sized him up for a couple of seconds and then began walking towards him. "Weren’t you going to work? Why are you here?"

Shane smiled and said, "You got here earlier than I expected. I thought you’d co in only when the bell rang."

Audrey looked at the bouquet of vibrant red roses in his hand, her eyes couldn’t hide her smile, and she said, "You said you had sothing urgent, was it to buy flowers?"

She deliberately asked, "Who are they for?"

Shane teased her, "For a lady teacher who swept off my feet."

Audrey’s smile imdiately vanished, replaced by a sarcastic tone, "A lady teacher, or is it Teacher Morgan?"

Seeing she was getting serious, Shane quickly handed her the flowers, worried she’d believe him. "Didn’t soone say I wasn’t romantic yesterday? Looking at with envy talking about others sending flowers to the company."

Audrey thought he didn’t take it to heart at all. Even though they were considered an old couple, this kind of sudden little surprise still felt sweet to her.

Smiling, she took the flowers and said, "Seems you have so sense."

Shane: "As long as you like it, I’ll do it every day from now on."

Audrey: "You’re just boasting. Sending flowers is like working out; I bet you’ll do it irregularly at best."

Shane: "Looks like you have a clear self-understanding."

Audrey shrugged indifferently, "Enough talking, I’m going to class, and you should go make money for the baby formula."

Shane noticed she was holding a small plastic bag along with the flowers, containing the breakfast he made. With a stern face, he asked, "You ca here without having breakfast?"

Audrey waved the small plastic bag, "I brought it. I’ll eat when I’m hungry."

Shane: "It’ll be cold by then, and cold food isn’t good for the stomach."

Audrey muttered softly, "It’s already cold."

Shane gave her a look, "What do you want to eat? I’ll buy it and bring it over for you."

Audrey: "No need; I’ll have so biscuits later. Also... these flowers are too heavy. Why don’t you take them back in the car?"

Shane glanced around, no one was really watching, but so passing students had their phones pointed at them.

He said, "If you return the flowers I gave you, it looks like my confession was rejected."

Audrey: "Do you really want your wife to carry these heavy flowers to class and back to the dorm?"

Shane looked at her in silence, not really wanting to, but he also felt it was pointless if the flowers he gave were returned to the car.

Audrey had an idea, "How about this..."

She drew a single rose from the large bouquet, "I’ll take one flower, and it’ll an I accept your confession."

Then she opened the car door and put the bouquet inside, waving the single rose in front of him, "I’ll head to class now, okay?"

Shane bent slightly, his face turned to her, silently hinting sothing.

Audrey understood, tiptoed, and gave him a quick peck on the cheek, then shyly turned and ran towards the teaching building.

Shane watched her happy skip with satisfaction, reminding her, "Walk properly, don’t hop around."

Audrey paused, waved back at him, and continued walking toward the building.

At the teaching building, as usual, Phoebe had saved her a seat.

But unlike before, Phoebe seed listless today.

"What’s up, Sister Phoebe? Didn’t sleep well last night?"

Phoebe sighed, her tone dispirited, "Didn’t sleep at all."

Audrey quickly asked, "What happened? Is sothing wrong?"

Phoebe: "Had a fight with your brother."

Audrey: "What was it about?"

Phoebe: "Wasn’t it just last night we all left together? After that, I went to find him. I wanted to have a clear talk. My family said they want to et back ho, but he still hasn’t given a clear answer. I talked to him seriously last night, and he kept dodging, saying marriage is a big deal and I should think it over. What is there to think about? I think he just doesn’t want to take responsibility. He’s a coward! I was so mad I slamd the door and spent the night outside. He didn’t even co looking for , not even a call. It infuriates !"
