Shane heard this and forced a smile, which appeared quite perfunctory.
Audrey Sutton was dissatisfied and said, "That smile looks so fake."
Shane shifted his gaze back to the stage, "I said I’m not mad, so I’m not mad. The performance has started again. Pick up your glow stick and keep waving it."
Audrey then realized why he was unhappy, and she held his arm to explain, "I was waving it because of that uncle. I really like his songs. He was very popular when I was in middle school. I used to listen to that song a lot when I missed you, so I couldn’t help but sing along, and then I started waving."
Upon hearing her explanation, Shane felt a sudden tightness in his chest, and his anger seed to dissipate instantly.
They locked eyes, and Audrey noticed his expressionless face and silence, so she blinked at him pitifully.
Shane’s voice carried a haughty tone as he opened his mouth, "It’s not impossible to forgive you."
Audrey’s eyes lit up, "You say it! As long as I, Sutton, can do it, I’ll go through fire and water, whatever it takes!"
Shane glanced at her and said irritably, "Then go climb a mountain of knives for ."
Audrey imdiately whined, "It’s just a taphor! It’s to show my sincerest love for you!"
Shane didn’t continue bantering with her and said, "When we get back, sing that song for again."
Audrey patted her chest and said, "No problem! But you can’t be mad anymore."
Shane: "I’m not mad."
Audrey muttered, "Hmph, acting like a sulky little wife and still saying you’re not mad."
Shane: "What did you say?"
Audrey imdiately put on a fawning smile, "I said you’re the most handso man in the whole venue!"
In the open-air arena, no matter how enthusiastic, it couldn’t withstand the chill of the night breeze.
Audrey sneezed, and Shane glared at her. She sheepishly pulled up the hood of her coat.
The show was supposed to end at eleven, but Simon Sue added a dley of hits, chatted with fans afterward, and it dragged until eleven thirty before everyone reluctantly left.
Usually, at this ti, Audrey would already be asleep.
On the way back, she was lively chatting with Barry Barrett, walking behind and chattering away.
After dropping Barry off at school, Audrey moved to the front passenger seat, smiling at Shane, "Weren’t you going to listen to sing? I’ll sing for you now."
Then Audrey started singing with a deliberately exaggerated tone, using an intentionally rough voice, which was honestly a bit harsh on the ears.
But Shane didn’t stop her, just listened as her energy waned, turning to humming, and eventually fell silent.
He turned his head to see her dozing off, leaning against the seat.
When they got ho, it was already midnight. Shane hadn’t planned to wake her, but as he was about to lift her, she woke up on her own.
Shane had his arms ready, but seeing her awake, he placed her back on the seat, "Want to sleep inside?"
Audrey, realizing what he intended to do earlier, held out her arms to him, "Carry in."
Shane stood by the car door watching her, "You have two choices: either get out and sleep in bed now, or stay here."
Audrey: "I want you to carry to bed."
Shane: "That’s not an option."
Audrey: "But you were going to carry just now."
Shane: "Who told you to wake up?"
Upon hearing this, Audrey imdiately tilted her head and closed her eyes, making a snoring sound.
Seeing her like this, Shane couldn’t help but chuckle, but he quickly suppressed it, "I’m closing the door."
Audrey imdiately opened her eyes, glared at him, and angrily pushed the door open to get out, "You jerk!"
Leaving those three words, Audrey went inside without looking back.
In recent tis, there weren’t many classes left in school, but Laura Yates said Audrey had secured a film contract for her last manga, so Audrey needed to spare so ti to organize materials and discuss so changes.
Audrey didn’t want her colleagues to think she was slacking off, so she secretly worked on other things in the office.
Barry, on the other hand, used a signed photo of Simon Sue to quickly make friends with many female colleagues in the departnt.
Most of the staff in the departnt were friendly; the two won Audrey encountered in the restroom were a rare exception.
Particularly, the few leaders in the departnt were quite approachable and didn’t abuse their authority, easily mingling with their employees.
Among the three departnt directors, only one is female, and everyone calls her Joy. She’s in her early thirties, single, with the charm of a professional woman, and reportedly has many pursuers.
She’s also quite amiable, doesn’t fawn over anyone, and doesn’t slander others randomly. Audrey has a pretty good impression of her, though she’s heard Joy seems to enjoy smoking.
Audrey thinks that nowadays, it’s not rare for girls to smoke as long as their character isn’t bad.
The other two directors are: one is a man in his forties, happily married; the other is a young man in his late twenties, looks clean-cut, said to be a top graduate from a prestigious university, which earned him his position at such a young age. Barry has a crush on him, so she’s been especially diligent at work lately, even thinking about becoming a permanent staff mber.
The departnt head is a middle-aged man in his forties, with a bald head and beer belly, who appears sowhat sleazy but turns out to be an amiable senior.
With these leaders, the departnt’s working atmosphere is quite relaxed.
In the afternoon, when Audrey just sat down at her desk, Barry leaned over to ask, "Hey Sutton, there’s a departnt gathering this weekend. Are you going?"
Audrey: "When was this announced?"
Barry: "Joy just ntioned it."
Audrey thought for a bit. Last week, she had already bailed on Shane. If she ditched him again this weekend, it might not be easy to appease him.
So Audrey shook her head and said, "I probably can’t make it. I promised my guy I’d spend this weekend with him."
Barry rolled her eyes in disdain, "Alright, alright. I shouldn’t have asked you, always flaunting your romance."
Audrey leaned in with a smile, whispering, "How are things with Director Quinne?"
Barry lowered her head and spoke even softer, "Keep it down. He’s going to the gathering too, so I want to join in on the fun. Who knows, maybe sparks will fly?"
Audrey smiled knowingly, "Looking forward to your good news."
Barry, full of confidence, said, "I caught the bouquet, so I’m bound to have so luck in love this year."
