Several police cars were parked outside the company, and the finance departnt was in turmoil all morning, involving several senior executives of the company. This nest of rats might not be completely cleaned up yet, and there may be so people who, although uninvolved, are aware of but did not report.

However, this incident serves as a warning; even those with shady ideas are likely to tuck them away obediently.

Shane was also busy dealing with this issue all morning, as it was an internal company scandal and didn’t alert the dia.

Or rather, the dia caught wind but didn’t dare report without permission.

It was almost one in the afternoon when Shane finally returned ho.

Audrey Sutton, wearing an apron, was busy at the kitchen counter. She said, "You’re back? Sit down and rest for a while, I’ll serve the soup, and we can eat."

Shane stood by the door, changed his shoes, and walked over, smiling at her, "Is this the surprise you ntioned?"

Audrey Sutton smiled with pressed lips, "How is it? I’m not just a pretty face, right?"

Shane: "A ’pretty face’ refers to soone who looks good but doesn’t have skills, so you don’t qualify as just a pretty face."

Understanding the implication of his words, Audrey Sutton’s smile instantly vanished, and she said in a huff, "Then don’t eat the food, starve for all I care."

Shane teased her, "Okay, okay, you are a pretty face."

Audrey Sutton turned her face away, pouting.

Shane turned on the tap by the sink, washing his hands, "If I say you’re not, you’re unhappy; if I say you are, you’re still unhappy."

Audrey Sutton: "Anyway, nothing nice ever cos out of your mouth."

"Alright, you did well with this issue, but I won’t praise you."

Audrey Sutton raised an eyebrow in confusion, turning to look at him, "Why not? I helped you save the company from a lot of losses. If those people had stayed, I suspect they would have emptied the company!"

Shane wiped his hands on the towel hanging nearby and said, "So people will do anything for money, so while your intentions were good this ti, I don’t agree with your approach. When you found out, you should have told right away instead of investigating on your own. What if they panicked and turned on you?"

Understanding that Shane was concerned about her safety, Audrey Sutton’s tone softened, although she was still sowhat dissatisfied, muttering, "You just think I can’t do anything right without you."

Shane: "I’m worried about you, and this isn’t even your area of expertise. Even if you don’t do it well, it’s okay. You have your strengths. There’s no need to be so determined to do everything perfectly. Who’s perfect in this world?"

Audrey Sutton mumbled, "Your college friend dances really well, tried acting, and imdiately beca popular."

Shane patted her head and said, "But can she draw? Can she draw better than you? Moreover, she’s not as popular as you. She doesn’t have as many followers on X as you do."

Audrey Sutton realized there was so truth to it. Earlier, she was advising lody Yardley to discover her strengths, yet she got confused when it ca to herself.

Shane watched her stand on tiptoe to get the bowls from the cupboard. He imdiately walked over and reached for the bowls, saying, "I’ll do it, you just bring the utensils over."

Audrey Sutton nodded, and as she turned around, she suddenly thought of sothing and looked back at him puzzled, "How do you know how many followers I have on X? Didn’t you say you don’t use X?"

Shane paused montarily while serving the soup, then said, "Took a look when I was bored."

Audrey Sutton eyed him, "Did you also check Clarissa Morgan’s?"

Shane: "I noticed she liked your new comic post. I accidentally ended up on her profile, took a look, and closed it."

Although Audrey Sutton didn’t quite believe he just took a glance, she couldn’t help but smile looking at his eager explanation. She turned around and continued getting the utensils, saying, "It’s okay if you look. I’m not that petty. I’m just wondering if you’ve secretly created an account and are using it to vent about ."

Shane: "That’s sothing you would do."

Audrey Sutton: "I wouldn’t do anything sneaky like that. If I have sothing bad to say, I’ll say it to your face."

One serving rice, the other serving soup, their unspoken understanding had beco a norm in their lives.

Holding a bowl of soup, Audrey Sutton took a sip and suddenly asked Shane, "Have you ever read my comics?"

Shane: "Why do you ask?"

Audrey Sutton: "It’s just that there’s soone quite odd who keeps sending rewards, and the amounts are quite substantial."

Shane raised an eyebrow, "You think it’s ?"

Audrey Sutton chewed on a piece of rib in the soup and said, "I suspected you initially, but then I thought it wasn’t."

Shane’s lips curved slightly upward as he asked, "Why?"

Audrey Sutton: "There are several points that make rule you out. First, this person started rewarding a long ti ago, around when we just got married. Back then, you didn’t think much of , so you wouldn’t have rewarded . Second, it seems unlikely you’d be that foolish. If you wanted to give money, you’d just give it to directly. Why reward it to a website and let them take a cut? Such a loss."

Hearing this, Shane couldn’t help but laugh bitterly but maintained a cold expression, saying, "Are you attracting admirers outside?"

Audrey Sutton got excited at his words, "Hey! Now that you ntion it, I do suspect there’s so rich guy secretly crushing on . But since I’m married, he has to secretly show his affection this way. So, you better treat well and stop criticizing all the ti. There are plenty of people waiting for this flower to bloom outside!"

Shane sneered with disdain and calmly said, "No worries, my ho’s walls are built high."

Audrey Sutton snorted, "This flower can grow. If you don’t take good care of it, one day it might just climb over the wall."

Shane: "Yeah, better take ti to trim and care for it, so she stops thinking about climbing out."

Not hearing a single nice word, Audrey Sutton wasn’t happy. She pulled the plate of stir-fried beef Shane loved most in front of herself, muttering, "I won’t cook for you again."

Shane chuckled and didn’t fight her for the plate, saying, "Then I’ll cook for you."

This sentence hit Audrey Sutton’s heart, and she smiled softly, silently pushing the plate of beef back to him, "You cook other dishes better, but your stir-fried beef just isn’t as tender as mine."

"It’s good, but too spicy. You should eat mild food now. By the way, isn’t it ti for your hospital checkup soon?"

Audrey Sutton counted on her fingers and said, "Should be next week. You’re not going on a business trip again, are you?"
