Audrey Sutton shook her head in confusion, "No, I haven’t left the house these days. What’s up?"

Shane Warner said, "My mom told that he went to the hospital today to visit my dad. I thought maybe it was you who ntioned so plan and went to see him privately, then told him about it."

Audrey replied, "Your family’s matters, even if the dia doesn’t report them, are already spreading outside. Do I need to inform him?"

Shane asked again, "You still haven’t told what you plan to do about their divorce."

Audrey yawned, smacked her lips, and said, "I haven’t thought about it yet. There’s sothing else you might not know."

"Hmm?"

Even though there were only the two of them in the room, Audrey leaned mysteriously toward Shane’s ear and whispered, "Clarissa Morgan might have... killed soone."

Shane asked, "How do you know?"

Audrey said, "Rember that photographer, Nolan Hawke? He died under suspicious circumstances, hit by a car in a residential area. You’d expect people to drive slowly there, so even if there was an accident, it shouldn’t be so serious. Besides, soone seed to have photographed the person hitting him as Clarissa Morgan. However, Quentin Sterling might have suppressed the news, maybe just paid so money, and nothing more happened. She’s still a big star now."

Shane said, "Why didn’t you tell sothing this big sooner?"

Audrey pouted, "You always tell to mind my own business, and I don’t have any evidence. I was afraid you’d say I’m making up stories."

Shane said thoughtfully, "Flies don’t land on seamless eggs."

Audrey huffed, "Who are you calling a fly?"

Shane teased, "Your mind works fast now? Switching so quickly?"

Audrey asked, "Hey, you have a wide network. Can you find soone to look into this privately?"

Shane said, "If Quentin Sterling really suppressed it, it might be hard to investigate. He’s very ticulous, usually doesn’t make mistakes, and with so much ti passed, any clues might have been cleaned up."

Audrey sighed, "I thought so too, which is why I wanted to know if they’ve divorced."

Shane asked, "You want Quentin Sterling to expose Clarissa Morgan? Bring her to justice?"

Audrey nodded repeatedly, "That’s why you’re my husband, with a sharp mind. But I still don’t know why they got divorced, although it’s obvious Brother Sterling still has feelings for Clarissa Morgan, or he wouldn’t be drowning his sorrows in bars. I also asked Vanessa, and she said she hadn’t heard about their divorce either. It seems Quentin Sterling hasn’t told his family yet. Maybe they divorced quietly and are still maintaining a facade of being married. I’m thinking, if I reveal Clarissa Morgan’s true face to Brother Sterling, he’ll give up on her and stop protecting her. That way, Clarissa Morgan won’t be able to stay scot-free."

Shane considered it and said, "Don’t act rashly for now. Stay ho these days, and I’ll go find out more before we proceed."

Audrey nodded obediently, "Okay, I’ll listen to you. I feel like I’m not just doing this for myself. If Clarissa Morgan really killed soone, doing this contributes to society."

Shane gently tapped her forehead, "Stop flattering yourself, go to sleep!"

Audrey laughed and snuggled into his arms, closing her eyes.

She had originally thought that Shane wouldn’t take her baseless suspicions seriously.

...

Hospital.

Near midnight, what was bustling in the daylight now seed quite deserted.

Evan Sutton put on a long black trench coat and walked out through the hospital’s main entrance.

"Dr. Sutton, working so late?"

Evan smiled gently and replied to a colleague’s small talk, "Had a surgery, got delayed a bit."

"Thanks for your hard work."

Evan nodded with a smile and walked straight towards the hospital parking lot.

During the silent night, the urgent clack of high heels on the ground sounded from behind, accompanying a woman’s phone conversation, "Okay, okay, tell where you are, I’ll co to you now."

"Yes, alright, I just got off work, still at the hospital, it might take ten minutes. Keep an eye on him."

"Alright, I’m heading over now."

Evan didn’t pay attention to the noises behind him until, unexpectedly, the woman who hung up the phone called out to him, "Director Sutton? It’s really you, didn’t expect to see you still at the hospital this late."

Evan turned, took a glance at Catherine Porter, and just nodded with a smile as a greeting.

Catherine jogged to catch up with him and asked, "Director Sutton, do you have so cash? I’d like to exchange so with you. I have a friend drunk at a bar, and their bar owner only accepts cash."

Evan stopped, softly asking, "How much do you need? I think I only have a bit over a thousand with ."

Catherine nodded with a smile, "That’s enough, let’s exchange a thousand, I’ll transfer to you via WhatsApp."

Evan didn’t hesitate, took out his wallet from his pocket, and counted a thousand to give her.

Catherine’s eyes weren’t on the cash in Evan’s hand. Instead, she noticed a photo in his wallet, appearing thoughtful as she took the cash, "Thanks a lot."

"No problem."

Catherine paused for a mont and asked, "Director Sutton... have a girlfriend?"

Evan was taken aback, as if he didn’t understand why Catherine was asking this, and gently shook his head, "No."

Catherine raised an eyebrow playfully, "It’s rare to see soone who doesn’t put a girlfriend’s photo in their wallet."

When the photo in his wallet was ntioned, Evan’s expression froze for a mont and he didn’t continue the conversation with Catherine, "It’s getting late, I’ll head off now."

"Okay, take care on your way ho."

Evan sat in his car, took out his wallet from his pocket again, and looked at the photo of Audrey Sutton from her high school days in his wallet, his gaze becoming distant as if recalling events related to her from that ti.

Back then, Audrey was quite attached to him and would always co to him first, no matter how small the issues, even complaints about little conflicts between girls at school. She would tell him which girl she didn’t like in her class, for instance.

Evan would always patiently listen to her stories, occasionally offering little pieces of advice but never scolding her.

But recently, she hadn’t reached out to him in a long ti, not even for her usual pocket money requests.

He expected she would get married soday and that there would be others to pamper her, but adapting to this change seed not as easy.

He took out his phone, looking at their chat history, noticing how their conversations had beco far less frequent.

Evan sighed, putting away his phone, and stared at the photo in his wallet for another two seconds, then he removed it and slipped it into a more hidden compartnt.
