Now reading: Chapter 575: So Inhumane from Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!, a Romance novel by The Beginning of Prosperity.

Shane originally planned to leisurely have lunch at ho, then snuggle with his beloved wife for a cozy nap.

Now, however, he’s driving aimlessly in the rain, unsure of where to go.

He checks the ti, sees he has over an hour before work, and decides to call Heath: "Where are you?"

Heath, on the other end, sounds particularly guilty as he answers: "Co...cousin? What’s up? Isn’t it after work hours?"

Shane: "Asking where you are. Need to talk to you."

Before Heath can respond, a woman’s flirtatious voice is heard in the background: "Oh, what are you doing? Hurry up!"

Then Heath hurriedly says, "Cousin, I’m a bit tied up right now, I’ll call you back."

Shane: "..."

Half an hour later, Shane ets Heath at a hotel.

The two sit in a booth in the hotel’s lobby, Heath grinning: "You’re in such a hurry to see , what’s up, cousin?"

Shane doesn’t beat around the bush, directly asking, "LL Club, do you rember it?"

"LL? Yeah, I worked there before but haven’t been there in ages."

Shane asks again, "Back then, did you know any of the bellboys at the hotel?"

Heath chuckles: "You’ve co to the right guy, not only do I know them, I have an old acquaintance."

Shane: "Spill it."

Heath straightens up and starts acting formal, "Cousin, you should know, in our line of work, information isn’t gathered casually; it’s a transaction, you know what I an?"

Shane snorts: "Are you asking for money?"

Heath laughs, correcting: "It’s not ’asking,’ it’s a trade, you pay for what you want."

Shane pulls out his wallet and asks Heath, "What’s the price?"

Heath eyes Shane’s wallet intently and says, "Cousin, you decide."

Then he adds, "Set a price that matches your net worth."

Shane gives him a sidelong glance and takes out five hundred in cash from his wallet, placing it on the table. Heath imdiately looks disdainful: "Is that it? Aren’t you worried about being laughed at?"

Shane: "Talk. If the info’s useful, I’ll pay more."

Heath pouts. Though he finds it low, he quickly pockets the five hundred: "I know a guy, a big brother who spent so ti in jail while he was on the streets. After getting out, he turned over a new leaf, got a wife and kids, and just wanted a stable life, so he asked around for a job and ended up as a bellboy at LL Club."

Heath ntions deliberately: "Clever guests sotis tip a few hundred to a thousand bucks."

Shane pretends not to pick up on Heath’s hint and asks, "What’s his na?"

Heath remains silent, holding out his hand in front of Shane.

Shane takes out another hundred and puts it in Heath’s hand. Heath frowns: "Cousin, you’re genuinely stingy, can’t even buy a pack of cigarettes!"

Shane: "I’ve got a family to feed, unlike you, who only fends for yourself."

Heath: "Co on, with all your assets, you could afford to support ten wives, and you’re handing a asly hundred!"

Seeing Heath dragging his feet, Shane takes out all the cash from his wallet, which is only a little over three thousand yuan, and gives it to Heath.

Maybe it’s because he got cash in smaller amounts before, but Heath finds three thousand quite satisfying now and quickly spills the information: "I’m not sure if this phone number is still valid, but if you can’t reach him, you, cousin, should be able to track him down easily."

Shane stands up, heading towards the hotel exit, saying, "Consider this an advance on your salary, to be deducted at the end of the month."

"What?!" Heath quickly follows, yelling, "Cousin, how can you do this? It’s inhumane!"

The "inhumane cousin" drove off without hesitation.

Heath frantically waves his hand, shouting, "Give a lift! I’m heading back to the office too!"

Clearly, Shane has no intention of giving Heath a lift, driving off without stopping, leaving Heath to curse under his breath: "So inhumane!"

With a wad of cash in his hand but the thought it will be deducted from his salary, the money suddenly seems less appealing.

Shane imdiately sends the information he got to Franklin, who finds out that the bellboy, nad Gabriel Armstrong, currently resides out-of-province, about three hours away by car.

Shane plans to take so ti tomorrow to go with Franklin and check things out.

Audrey is aware Shane’s holding in his frustration, so she doesn’t dare to continue being carefree in the afternoon. After finishing mahjong with Flora and the others at three, she starts preparing dinner.

In the evening, as rain falls more heavily, Audrey stirs the soup she’s brewing and hears a car outside. She imdiately puts down the spoon, opens the door, and stands there to welco Shane.

"Welco ho, darling, you’ve worked hard~"

Shane observes Audrey’s peculiar behavior, scanning the room from the doorway, he asks, "What mischief have you been up to?"

Audrey takes his coat from his arm and hangs it on the coat rack by the door, saying, "What mischief? I even cleaned up the entire house!"

As Shane changes his shoes, he slls the aroma of food wafting through the house, a complete contrast to when he returned ho at noon: "Where are your mahjong buddies?"

Audrey smiles, "They left long ago; didn’t you say not to play for too long?"

"Since when did you listen so well?"

"I’ve always been obedient! You go take a shower quickly. Warm up, and dinner should be ready when you’re done."

Shane doesn’t say anything, but in his heart, he appreciates having such a thoughtful wife at ho.

Even though she can be utterly infuriating at tis.

Shane doesn’t ntion the lead he got to Audrey; at dinner, he only tells her that he’s going on a business trip out of town tomorrow, and that if it goes smoothly, he’d be back the sa night, otherwise the next day.

Audrey typically doesn’t ask much about his work. In the past, she’d often ask who he was going with or if there were any female secretaries, but now, those concerns seem to have vanished. She only tells him to take so warm clothes to avoid catching a cold.

The next day, Shane leaves early, making her breakfast before he goes. He departs a little past six.

Franklin drives to the corner to pick him up, and in the car with them is a young apprentice of Franklin’s.
