Now reading: Chapter 603: We Did Our Best from Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!, a Romance novel by The Beginning of Prosperity.

Vincent Warner just stood there, letting Helen Holloway vent her emotions, without defending himself.

Since Shane Warner found out the truth, he hadn’t sought out Vincent Warner.

He just felt that the suffering Vincent Warner had endured over these years probably wasn’t any less than his own.

Inside, he still felt a bit guilty towards Vincent Warner.

Helen Holloway, overwheld with emotion, suddenly went limp. Vincent Warner hurried to support her, with a nurse imdiately coming over to help. Just then, dical staff passed by, and Shane Warner asked them to take Helen Holloway to a ward to rest.

The noisy corridor instantly fell silent, with Shane Warner and Vincent Warner standing one ter apart, facing each other.

Vincent Warner pressed his lips together, as if wanting to say sothing, but unsure of how to start.

Shane Warner’s dark eyes lowered slightly, his voice sowhat hoarse as he asked, "Do you have a cigarette?"

Vincent Warner paused, then reached into his pocket, pulled out a pack of cigarettes, and handed it to Shane Warner.

Shane Warner opened the pack and walked towards the nearby fire escape. He pushed open the iron door, with the dark stairwell behind him.

He took out a cigarette and handed the pack back to Vincent Warner.

Vincent Warner lit his lighter and offered it to Shane Warner, who held the cigarette in his mouth and nodded as he touched the cigarette to the fla, taking a shallow puff.

After lighting the cigarette, he straightened up and leaned against the wall behind him.

Vincent Warner lit a cigarette for himself, took two puffs, and then calmly said, "I’m sorry I can’t help you with anything."

Shane Warner took a deep drag on his cigarette, slowly exhaled the smoke, then turned his head to look at Vincent Warner, remaining silent.

Vincent Warner didn’t know what Shane Warner was thinking, only that Shane Warner probably hated him deeply.

If Sean had been there with him at that mont, maybe he wouldn’t have had to endure this alone.

Thinking of this, Vincent Warner hoarsely uttered the words, "I’m sorry."

Shane Warner paused with the cigarette between his fingers, looking at Vincent Warner and asking, "What are you sorry for?"

Vincent Warner lowered his eyes, speechless, not daring to bring up his brother in front of Shane Warner.

After a few seconds of silence, Shane Warner, slowly taking another puff of the cigarette, asked Vincent Warner, "If it’s sothing you didn’t do, why are you apologizing?"

Vincent Warner was taken aback, not understanding what Shane Warner ant by this.

Had he found sothing out?

Shane Warner didn’t give him a clear answer. After a pause, he just said, "Perhaps... I’m the one who should apologize."

Vincent Warner beca even more at a loss, his deep eyes filled with confusion and surprise as they looked at Shane Warner.

"I’ve judged many things based only on my own assumptions, claiming to seek the truth, yet mistakenly thinking those assumptions were the truth."

"Shane..."

"Is Wallace Warner’s family here?"

Outside, a dical staff mber’s voice was heard inquiring.

Shane Warner’s eyes dimd as he extinguished the cigarette in his hand, pushed open the iron door, and returned to the area outside the ergency room.

All they were t with was a doctor saying, "I’m sorry, we did our best."

It was unclear whether this was expected or unexpected, though everyone had prepared for the worst.

...

Since Shane Warner left, Audrey Sutton had been feeling uneasy, sitting on the sofa watching TV, her mind not at all on the content of the show.

She recalled how Shane Warner, after taking a call, hurriedly inford Heath Holloway that they needed to go to the hospital. Considering that Heath only had minor injuries, it was unusual for Shane Warner to be so concerned.

Audrey Sutton had a thought in her mind but hoped her suspicion wasn’t true.

She took out her phone and ssaged Evan Sutton, inquiring about Shane Warner’s father’s situation.

Evan Sutton usually didn’t lie to her, so when Audrey Sutton asked, he truthfully relayed the bad news he had just learned.

Audrey Sutton stared at the ssage "His father just passed away," montarily stunned on the sofa without any reaction.

No wonder Shane Warner’s expression changed after he got that call, and he left in such a hurry.

Audrey Sutton couldn’t just sit there any longer but didn’t want to add to Shane Warner’s troubles with her panicked worries.

So when she went upstairs to change clothes, she contacted Phoebe King. In less than ten minutes, Phoebe had driven over to pick her up, and the two headed to the hospital together.

On the way, Audrey Sutton kept in touch with Evan Sutton, and upon arriving at the hospital, Evan imdiately took them to the hospital mortuary.

In the corridor, they saw Helen Holloway, supported by a caretaker, crying heartbreakingly, while Vincent Warner stood ahead, alone.

"Mom..."

Audrey Sutton and Phoebe King walked over to comfort Helen Holloway, but they couldn’t soothe her emotions at the mont.

Audrey Sutton, not seeing Shane Warner around, approached Vincent Warner: "... Mr. Warner."

Vincent Warner noticed Audrey Sutton looking for Shane Warner and said, "Shane went to handle so paperwork; he should be back soon."

Just as Vincent finished speaking, footsteps echoed from the other side of the corridor. Audrey Sutton turned to see Shane Warner walking towards the mortuary, clutching a pile of docunts.

Without thinking, Audrey Sutton ran towards Shane Warner.

Before Shane Warner could ask, "What are you doing here?" Audrey threw herself into his arms, wrapping her arms tightly around him.

Shane Warner was slightly pushed back by her sudden montum, but quickly steadied himself, embracing her in return.

Though Shane Warner’s expression remained largely unchanged, the warmth of that hug eased the dark clouds in his heart considerably.

Audrey Sutton’s mood seed even lower than his own. When he gently pulled her away, he saw her eyes swollen with tears, her voice choked, as she looked up at him, aggrieved and dissatisfied, quietly questioning, "Don’t you see as your wife? You didn’t tell about sothing this big!"

Shane Warner only ruffled her hair, feigning a relaxed smile as he explained, "I just hadn’t gotten the chance to tell you before you rushed over."

For so reason, seeing the smile at the corner of Shane Warner’s mouth, Audrey Sutton felt an inexplicable ache in her heart, and tears welled up in her eyes.

Shane Warner quickly raised his hand to wipe away the tear that had just rolled onto her cheek, softly saying, "I don’t have ti to console you right now; wait for here like a good girl. I still have paperwork to handle."

Audrey Sutton knew he was putting on a brave front, not wanting anyone to see his vulnerability.

The dical staff on the other side approached. Shane Warner gave Evan Sutton a glance, as if asking him to look after Audrey Sutton, before gently pushing Audrey towards Evan. Then, holding the docunts, he followed the staff into the mortuary.

All the reason, calmness, and composure were rely his usual form of self-disguise.

He seed indifferent and aloof, yet he bore the greatest grief, pretending to be at ease while holding up the sky, not wanting his emotions to negatively impact those around him.
