Upon reaching the radiology departnt, they inford the doctor on duty and then took Hannah Sue inside.
Hannah Sue seed worried that Evan Sutton would just leave her there, constantly looking back as she walked into radiology.
After the X-ray was taken, she imdiately ca out to find soone, seeing Evan Sutton standing in the hallway with his back to her, talking on the phone: "There was a little issue on the way, I’ll be back soon."
"Mm, it’s fine, not a big deal, you all get so rest early."
Hannah Sue stood by the door watching as Evan Sutton hung up the phone and turned around. The person from radiology ca out holding the X-ray and said to Evan Sutton: "The bone’s fine, probably just a sprained ankle. Go ho and apply an ice pack tonight, rub so Dit Da Jow on it, and it should feel much better by tomorrow."
Evan Sutton nodded: "Thank you."
"No problem, Dr. Sutton. Get ho early and rest. I’ll continue with my work."
"Okay, thanks for your hard work."
After the radiology doctor walked away, Hannah Sue glanced at Evan Sutton, and Evan Sutton looked at Hannah Sue, noticing she didn’t seem ready to leave. He was the first to speak: "Still need more tests?"
Hannah Sue shook her head, holding the X-ray film in her hand, pursed her lips, and said: "Are you ready to go back then?"
Evan Sutton: "It’s late, you should head back too. Where are your parents? Call them to pick you up?"
Hannah Sue shook her head: "I live at school."
Evan Sutton: "Do you need taxi fare from ?"
Hannah Sue frowned: "Aren’t you going to give a ride?"
Evan Sutton: "I need to rest too."
Hannah Sue: "But it’s so late, isn’t it dangerous for a girl like to take a cab?"
Evan Sutton: "You seem pretty comfortable with a stranger’s car, so taking a taxi shouldn’t be a big problem."
Hannah Sue: "...but our school gate must be closed by now. Can you pretend to be my brother and explain? Otherwise, they won’t let in."
Evan Sutton looked at the X-ray in her hand and said: "Just tell them you were in a car accident and went to the hospital for a check-up. I think what you have in your hand should be enough to convince them. Co on, let’s go downstairs and catch a cab."
Watching Evan Sutton turn around to leave, Hannah Sue reluctantly followed him.
Upon leaving the hospital, seeing that it was still snowing, Hannah Sue pulled up her coat’s hood and jogged to catch up with Evan Sutton, standing by the roadside waiting for a car.
It was quite coincidental that within half a minute of waiting, a car pulled up by the curb. Evan Sutton waved it down, and after the passenger got off, he ushered Hannah Sue inside.
The driver asked: "Miss, where to?"
Hannah Sue: "Rivia First High School."
Evan Sutton: "How much?"
Driver: "The ter’s running, but usually there’s no traffic at night, ten bucks should cover it."
Evan Sutton pulled out a ten-dollar bill from his wallet, handed it to the driver, and started to leave when Hannah Sue rolled down the window and asked him: "What’s your na?"
Evan Sutton glanced at Hannah Sue without answering, simply putting away his wallet and stepping back.
As he turned away, he heard Hannah Sue shout from behind: "I’m Hannah Sue! Stop by First High School to hang out when you’re free!"
Evan Sutton just paused briefly, didn’t turn back, and continued on his way.
By the ti he exited the parking lot with his car, the taxi had already disappeared.
When he got ho, the family was still up, seemingly waiting for him.
As soon as Evan Sutton got ho, Hazel Yates imdiately approached with concern asking: "What happened to Luna? Is she hurt?"
Evan Sutton shook his head: "No big deal, just a little scratch on the car, not noticeable. It’s already taken care of."
"Drive safely in the snow, go upstairs for a hot shower and rest early." After saying this, Hazel Yates turned to several siblings gathered around the TV in the living room and said: "You guys finish this episode and head upstairs to sleep, especially Phoebe and Audrey! Who knows how long you’ll ss around under the covers before actually going to sleep."
Audrey Sutton, eyes glued to the TV, replied dismissively: "Got it, Mom, you rest early."
Hazel Yates picked up the shawl from the sofa, and as she headed upstairs, she said to Stephen Sutton: "You watch over them, and make sure they go to sleep right after this episode ends."
Stephen Sutton nodded, just as the plot on TV reached an exciting point. Audrey Sutton and Phoebe King both let out a little yelp, then clung to each other, scared yet unable to tear their eyes from the screen.
Norman Sutton rolled his eyes at them: "Two scaredy-cats, what’s there to be afraid of? I haven’t even shown you a horror movie yet."
Stephen Sutton checked the ti on his phone, seeing that there were about thirty minutes left in the episode and that it was almost midnight. He quietly took a photo and sent it to Shane.
The next second, Audrey Sutton’s phone, which was on the coffee table, started ringing.
She reached out for the phone as the tense scene ended and saw Shane’s ssage: Why aren’t you asleep yet?
Audrey Sutton was a bit stunned, wondering how he knew she wasn’t asleep yet?
But Audrey Sutton didn’t lie, honestly replied: "Watching TV with Sister Phoebe and the others, going to bed soon."
Shane: What ti is it? Watch it tomorrow during the day, go to sleep now.
Audrey Sutton pouted. Even though Shane wasn’t there, she still listened to him and turned to Norman Sutton: "Six, pause it for . I’ll continue watching tomorrow."
Norman Sutton: "Why should I listen to you?"
He complained while searching for the remote on the sofa.
Phoebe King, who had also sneaked a peek at Audrey Sutton and Shane’s conversation, stretched and said: "Why do you listen to him so much? Besides, he’s not here, you could just agree and keep watching, he won’t know."
After saying that, Phoebe King suddenly realized sothing was off and quickly frowned at Stephen Sutton sitting beside her, pointedly asking: "How weird, how did he know Audrey was still watching TV? Who’s the snitch?"
Stephen Sutton pretended not to hear, pushed up his glasses, and watched as Norman Sutton used the remote to turn off the TV, the screen slowly fading to black.
Audrey Sutton also glanced at Stephen Sutton, guessing the two were in cahoots, but said nothing. She yawned, picked up her pillow, and headed upstairs with Phoebe King, chatting about who they thought the culprit was in the show.
Having seen the show before, Norman Sutton called out spoilers from downstairs: "The culprit is her brother, who accidentally killed her when he went to her shop drunk asking for money."
"Norman Sutton!" Audrey Sutton and Phoebe King yelled in unison, and from upstairs ca Samuel Sutton’s distant voice: "How many tis have I told you, don’t ss with your sister!"
Norman Sutton stood downstairs smugly, wiggling his hips at Audrey Sutton and Phoebe King.
Phoebe King, annoyed, grabbed a pillow from Audrey Sutton and hurled it at Norman Sutton below.
Norman Sutton dodged to the side, Stephen Sutton caught the pillow, glared at Phoebe King, and said: "Go to sleep, all of you!"
Phoebe King pouted: "Hon~ he bullied , and you’re not going to do anything?"
Stephen Sutton climbed the stairs, handed the pillow back to Audrey Sutton, and said: "Get to bed. If I hear you two whispering in your room later, you’ll sleep in separate rooms tomorrow."
