The next day, Audrey Sutton headed to school early in the morning.
She wondered what Shane would do after Laura Yates told him about those things.
Since the morning, she had been waiting for Shane to show up.
But all morning, there was no call or ssage from him.
Did he think she was just making a fuss over trivial matters, and felt she was being dramatic, so he decided not to pay attention to her?
There were no classes in the afternoon today, so after lunch, Audrey Sutton had arranged to go to the movies with her dorm mates.
In the middle of the movie, she felt her phone vibrate, and the screen lit up in the dark cinema.
Audrey quickly lowered her head to look at her phone, and couldn’t help but smile when she saw the sender’s na.
She opened the WhatsApp chat page, and a contact nad Y sent a ssage asking her: Where are you?
Audrey thought for a mont, suppressed her excitent, and typed: Watching a movie.
Y: With whom?
Before Audrey could reply, he said: Send your location.
Fortunately, it was just chatting via the phone screen, he couldn’t see the little joy in her eyes at that mont.
He just saw after a few seconds that she sent her location.
After sending the location, Audrey’s mind was far away from the movie, constantly thinking he should be on his way to find her, wondering what she should say to him when they et.
Less than ten minutes later, Shane sent another ssage: When does the movie end?
Audrey checked the ti; there were still forty or fifty minutes until it ended, but she couldn’t wait to et him.
She hesitated for less than two seconds before turning to Flora Lane: "Flora, my husband is here, I’m going out to et him."
Flora rolled her eyes at her: "Get lost, you who value love over friendship."
Audrey chuckled: "I’ll treat you guys to hotpot tonight, just settle the bill with afterward."
"Get lost, get lost."
"I’m leaving, tell Bear and the others."
Audrey, carrying her bag and holding her barely sipped milk tea, walked out of the cinema happily.
When she reached the ticket hall, she imdiately saw Shane standing by the cinema door.
She took a deep breath to hide her excitent, slowed her pace, and walked toward Shane.
He probably ca directly from the company to see her, dressed in his usual suit and tie, looking sowhat out of place compared to the casually dressed others.
"Finished watching?" He took two steps closer, asking quietly.
Audrey just nodded, embarrassed to admit she left halfway through for him.
"What movie was it?"
Audrey pointed to one of the posters by the movie door: "That one."
"Was it good?"
"...It was okay." To be honest, she hadn’t watched enough to really say.
"Do you want to watch another?"
Audrey was startled: "Hmm?"
Shane casually picked a poster: "Let’s watch this one; I’ll get the tickets."
Audrey followed him to the ticket counter, wondering if this counted as their first date.
After buying the tickets, he suggested: "It’s quite hot outside, let’s stay in here."
Audrey nodded and followed him to sit on the sofa in the waiting area, feeling a bit awkward holding her milk tea, she asked: "...Isn’t the company busy? How do you have ti to watch a movie?"
"I wanted to co see you this morning, but there was sothing with Grandpa, so I got delayed."
"Oh, is Grandpa better?"
"Yes, he’s out of the hospital and resting at ho now."
Audrey nodded, sipping her milk tea through the straw, suddenly unsure of what to say next.
She was curious about Shane’s attitude after Laura spoke to him, but didn’t know how to ask.
She just kept biting her straw to look less awkward.
"Why didn’t you tell sooner?" He looked at her intently, asking suddenly.
Audrey blinked, slightly bewildered, but she’d already guessed what he was referring to.
"She was closer to the shore. When I jumped into the water to save you, she clung to , so I had to save her first, then co back for you. I didn’t expect you to misunderstand my intention was not to save you first."
Audrey paused, now understanding why he saved Lan Irving first, feeling even more embarrassed.
Shane and her brother jumped into the water at about the sa ti, but Lan intentionally clung to Shane, clearly part of her sche.
"...I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have been petty over this." Initially, Audrey was really angry, but as she cald down over the past few days, she kept reflecting, realizing she was immature.
Soone like Shane, with a busy career, surely needed an understanding, gentle, and considerate partner by his side, yet she threw tantrums, adding to his worries outside work.
Therefore, Audrey had been particularly anxious the past few days, fearing he’d distance himself if he ran out of patience.
But luckily, he was proactive in resolving these conflicts and troubles.
"I didn’t know you were afraid of water, so your anger was justified, you are my wife after all. But if sothing similar happens again, I’d like you to tell why you’re upset right away, instead of saying you don’t want to talk. I have no clue about your anger, leaving helpless."
"I’m sorry, I won’t do it again."
Upon hearing her apology, Shane felt uneasy despite her justified anger.
She had clearly been very upset, her tearful face still vivid in his mory.
Even now, she could have been more headstrong, yet she apologized twice with a guilty expression.
Instead, it made her more endearing.
Shane sighed quietly, checked the ti on his watch as an announcent blared from the hall’s speakers.
He stood up and extended his hand to her: "Let’s go."
Audrey glanced at his outstretched hand, smiled softly, and reached out to hold it.
Though she suspected it might be an act of affection in public to prevent being photographed, she cherished the montary bliss.
As long as she was truly holding his hand, it was enough.
Her hand was a bit cold from holding the iced milk tea, soft and slender, holding onto his hand tightly.
