Hannah Sue took the phone and put it back in her bag, suddenly rembering sothing, and said, "By the way, I found my lost phone and wallet, thank you for helping ."
Evan Sutton sighed quietly, "Hurry back ho, I still have to work."
Hannah nodded, turned around with her backpack, and left.
Evan watched her enter the elevator, still a bit uneasy, and took out his phone to send her a ssage: Let know when you get ho.
Hannah: Okay.
I wonder what this child’s family thinks, letting a young girl run off to a strange city at night without anyone checking on her.
Following the route Evan had just ntioned, Hannah soon arrived at her destination.
Entering the neighborhood, there were directional signs, and she easily found the building where Evan lived, took the elevator up, and gently opened the apartnt door with the key.
A faint dicinal scent filled the dark room, her hand reached for the switch by the door, illuminating the entrance, faintly revealing the furnishings inside.
The place was clean and simple, with only the essentials, everything tidy and neat, making one feel relaxed imdiately upon entering.
Hannah took off her shoes, noticed there were no extra slippers in the cabinet, and walked in wearing her socks.
She looked around the living room without touching anything.
After putting her backpack on the sofa, she glanced at the thick dical books on the coffee table, recognizing the words but unable to understand them when they were together.
She took out her phone to send Evan a ssage to let him know she was safe, then took her pajamas out from her backpack and found the bathroom to take a simple shower.
The dicinal scent seed to have a sleep-inducing effect, and curling up on the sofa, wrapped in a blanket, her mind soon stopped wandering and she quickly fell asleep.
At six in the morning, Evan got off work from the hospital.
Passing by a breakfast shop, he bought a basket of freshly stead buns, heading in the direction of ho.
He took out a spare key to open the door, gently pushed it open and entered.
By the entrance, a pair of small-sized sneakers were placed haphazardly; he nudged them into place with his foot, changed his shoes, and walked inside, discovering Hannah asleep on the sofa.
Not sure if it was due to the cold, she was curled up tightly in the blanket, yet seed peaceful in her sleep.
Evan placed his items on the coffee table, went to his bedroom to get a blanket, and covered Hannah with it.
Unexpectedly, Hannah turned over, slowly opened her eyes, then suddenly sat up with wide eyes, looking at Evan in shock.
Evan stood expressionless, only then did Hannah slowly recall the events of the previous night, blushing with embarrassnt as she swallowed and said, "... You’re off work now, huh."
Evan nodded, "If you’re awake, get up and have breakfast."
The aroma of the at buns wafted over, and Hannah glanced at the buns on the coffee table, got up, and said, "I need to use the restroom."
Evan went to the kitchen to make two cups of oatal; the two of them sat by the coffee table, eating the simple breakfast, which made Hannah feel an unprecedented warmth.
Evan suddenly asked, "So why did you run away from ho?"
Hannah stuffed the remaining half of a bun from her chopsticks into her mouth and recounted yesterday’s events to Evan.
As she spoke again, she seed aggrieved and unwilling, feeling she wasn’t the one at fault, yet everyone sided with Grace Sue.
It sounded like a trivial matter, like any child having conflicts with family growing up, possibly having thoughts of running away.
Hannah ate bun after bun, muttering, "I don’t feel that place is my ho at all, no one’s called up to now, I don’t want to go back, I want to find a job, and earn a living for myself."
Evan gave her a side glance, "Can’t even stay in a hotel but think you can find a job and support yourself? It’s fine to feel upset, but don’t joke around with your life, maybe focus on studying well, and if you really don’t want to be with them, apply to a university farther away, and if you like the city, find a job there after graduation. Don’t think about unrealistic things right now."
Hannah: "I’ve decided I won’t go back ever again, I’ll just stay at school, and during long vacations, I’ll find sumr work, they don’t like , and I don’t like them either! I’ve had enough of them already."
Evan: "Haven’t even grown wings but want to fly? You may feel wronged at ho now, but once you enter society, you’ll know you’ll face even more grievances."
Hannah stirred her oatal porridge with her spoon, saying, "If others bully , I just think they’re bad people, but when it’s your own family, it feels especially heartless. From childhood till now, everyone’s always sided with Grace. Even when she’s wrong, they all bla ."
Evan: "Sotis there are just those who can’t distinguish right from wrong. If you can’t reason with them, be smarter next ti. When things happen, stay calm and think of a solution. For instance, when you saw your room in a ss from your sister, instead of causing a fuss in her room, quietly go to your dad, acting unaware, and ask what happened. Your dad would surely side with you, wanting to find that culprit with you. Even if in the end he might not harshly scold your sister, at least he would feel more for you."
"Imagine, seeing you splash water on your sister’s bed, at that mont you’re the one in the wrong. Even if you’re right, others will think you’re being unreasonable. Plus, when angry, we don’t think before we speak, leading to ssier outcos."
Hannah lowered her head dejectedly, reflecting on her actions.
"You’re still young, and it’s impossible to curb your temper instantly, but rember to stay calr when things happen, because bad people want to see you lose your cool."
"I’ve got it."
"When are you planning to go back?"
Hannah lowered her head, sighed, "No one’s looked for even now, they don’t care whether I go back or not."
Evan took a deep breath, "Running away from ho isn’t right, regardless of who’s right or wrong, it’s dangerous, you know? How did you find anyway?"
Hannah: "I just took a chance... didn’t expect to find you right away."
"That ans you got lucky. What if I wasn’t at that hospital or wasn’t on duty last night? What would you have done? So think about consequences before you act, don’t act so impulsively again."
"Oh... but since I’m here, I want to stay until the weekend is over."
Evan paused, not answering directly, but stood and said, "There’s two buns left, finish them up. I need to get so sleep; there’s a desk over there, you can do your howork, I’ll take you out for lunch."
