Lana Holloway knew Norman Sutton’s personality well; if she hung up, he would just keep calling relentlessly.
After all, he was her ntor’s son, and if she blocked him, he’d definitely co back to settle the account, which would be embarrassing.
Being in a foreign country, her phone was indispensable, so she couldn’t turn it off. She had no choice but to answer Norman Sutton’s call.
As soon as she picked up, Norman Sutton’s voice ca through: "You’re ignoring my ssages, huh? Playing deaf and dumb for whose benefit?"
Lana was tired from walking, so she sat on a bench by the street and replied blandly, "Not everyone is like you, glued to their phone chatting all the ti."
Norman Sutton: "Then did you see the ssage I sent you?"
Lana: "I saw it..."
Norman Sutton: "And you didn’t reply?"
Lana: "Did you give ti to reply? Besides, whether I respond or not is my own business. I’ll reply if I want to, and if I don’t, I won’t."
Norman snorted coldly: "What’s going on? You have a boyfriend beside you backing you up now? So you’re getting all tough, huh?"
ntioning "boyfriend" was like tearing open a scab on a wound that had barely stopped bleeding in Lana Holloway’s heart.
But she couldn’t talk about these things to soone waiting to see her fail, so she replied: "Stop with your sarcastic nonsense, just get to the point."
Norman got straight to the point, asking: "I’m competing tomorrow, are you coming? I’ve got an extra ticket I could sell you."
Actually, the ticket was reserved just for her.
Lana: "Why would I go to your ga? I don’t even understand the gas you play. Besides, didn’t you say your tickets are in high demand? You could sell them at the venue door, I’m sure lots of people would buy them, why insist on selling it to ? I have no money."
Norman was choked by her words and was infuriated: "True, with your penniless state, you can’t afford the ticket, not like I can’t sell it anyway!"
Speaking bitterly, Norman hung up the phone once again.
Lana was long used to his vile attitude, and breathed a sigh of relief as her ears enjoyed the peace.
Sitting alone on the bustling street, watching the busy people around, the atmosphere was lively.
Lana looked down at her phone; previously, she thought its only use was to contact Zachary Wilson.
Every ti she heard her phone ring, she would imdiately pick it up to check if it was a ssage from him.
But now she realized when he ssaged her, he might also be flirting with other girls simultaneously.
If she hadn’t made this trip, she might still be kept in the dark.
She sighed heavily, her breath forming a white mist in the cold air, feeling her eyes wetten, she blinked hard to hold back the tears.
"Look, it’s snowing."
"It sure snowed late this year."
Upon hearing the bystanders’ conversation, Lana looked up to see white snowflakes gently falling from the sky.
She rembered that before she ca here, Zachary Wilson had calculated the date it would snow, saying he wanted to watch the first snow of the winter with her.
Nose stinging, her eyes ward with tears, no matter how hard she tried to blink them away, the tears broke free pouring down her face.
Norman, hearing his buddies in the group chat ntion it was snowing outside, imdiately threw off the covers and got out of bed.
The first thing that ca to his mind was to take a photo and send it to Lana Holloway.
But when he picked up his phone to find an angle, he suddenly noticed sothing on the screen that made him pause. Did he just see Lana?
He put his phone down, looked in the direction the lens was pointed, and saw a girl sitting on a bench across the road.
With the distance and his slight nearsightedness, Norman couldn’t distinctly see the girl’s face, but he recognized the mauve hat, looking very similar to the one Lana often wore.
Norman picked up his phone again, zood in on the screen to see the girl’s face clearly, and imdiately turned, grabbed the black long down jacket by his bedside, pulling it on as he headed downstairs.
"Lana..."
A black sedan stopped in front of Lana, and Zachary Wilson’s face appeared in the window.
The car door opened, Zachary got out in a hurry, and tightly embraced Lana Hodgson in his arms: "I’ve been looking for you all day."
The voice carried the relief and fear of losing and regaining.
Being held in Zachary’s arms, Lana’s tears fell ever more fiercely.
But she wasn’t greedy for this warm embrace, struggling to push Zachary away.
Zachary also felt her resistance, hugging her tighter, frowning in pain and asking: "Lana, what’s wrong? Why didn’t you tell face to face?"
The black car drove off, and just as Norman Sutton walked out of the hotel door, he saw the couple across the road embracing each other.
His previously excited and eager steps ca to an imdiate halt.
He had been entirely focused on rushing down to find Lana, forgetting that damn boyfriend was with her.
Now great, just rushed down to see a fresh serving of PDA.
Norman stared at that direction, neither approaching nor leaving, simply watching this "damn couple" with a displeased face.
As he started muttering and preparing to head back, he suddenly saw Lana push Zachary away...
"Lana, co back with , alright? Let’s talk it over back there."
Lana raised her hand to wipe her tears, looking up at Zach with red, moist eyes and said: "Zach, we’re... over."
Zachary still held onto a sliver of hope, asking her: "What exactly happened? Why so suddenly?"
Lana: "Zach, don’t you know what you’ve done yourself?"
Zachary looked at her with a furrowed brow: "I think there’s been a misunderstanding."
Lana: "I hope it’s just a misunderstanding, but I’m not a fool. I can’t imagine the life you led while I wasn’t here. Last night, being right next door to you, you still..."
Hearing Lana ntion it, Zachary knew she must have found out about last night, and hastily admitted his mistake: "I was half-asleep. I didn’t know it was her... I thought it was you."
Lana laughed sarcastically: "You’re still lying, and with such a lousy lie. Do you really think I’m this easy to deceive? Telling to wait back ho in our country while you live this kind of life abroad? Zach, I never thought you would be this kind of person."
"Lana, you have to believe , my heart is truly only for you, you’re different from them, you..."
"Them?" Lana smiled through her tears, looking at Zach disappointingly, taking a step back, and said with a deep breath: "No need to explain further, let’s part ways amicably, don’t destroy whatever little good impression I have left of you."
Having said that, Lana turned to leave, but Zachary caught her, restraining her with his strength, attempting to force a kiss...
