Grace Sue’s face imdiately fell, and she angrily raised her hand, preparing to slap Hannah Sue, but Hannah grabbed her wrist and forcefully pushed her away.

Watching Grace stagger to stabilize herself, Hannah said, "Don’t assu everyone is your mom, condoning you in everything. Don’t ss with !"

Grace’s face turned blue with anger, and just as she was about to point at Hannah and curse her, the door to a side room opened, and Brian Sue ca out.

Grace imdiately changed her fierce deanor, putting on an aggrieved face, and complained to Brian, "Brother! Look at this brat, bullying your sister as soon as you co back!"

Brian looked impatient, said nothing, and walked downstairs without glancing at them, still in his pajamas.

Hannah didn’t continue to tangle with Grace and locked the door after entering her room.

The class reunion was obviously a lie; Grace wasn’t wrong about that. She didn’t have any classmates to gather with.

The nas Grace left her with at school left no one daring to be her friend anymore.

The winter vacation’s group study was also sothing she made up, but no one would expose these lies because no one cared where she went or what she did.

Hannah stayed in her room and only went downstairs to the laundry with the clothes and bedsheets to wash after they left.

Returning to her room, she tidied it up a bit, then stuffed so clothes, toiletries, her winter vacation howork, and the books she needed to review into a suitcase until it was full.

Early the next morning, she took her suitcase and hailed a taxi to the high-speed rail station. She was already familiar with this route, having traveled it back and forth nurous tis.

Even though Evan Sutton always told her not to co, each ti she sneaked over, Evan never let her fend for herself; he even gave her a key, telling her to go ho directly without going to the hospital to find him.

This ti she had already inford Evan in advance, telling him she would visit him during winter vacation.

Initially, Evan had disagreed. Embarrassed to say she missed him, Hannah fabricated a pathetic story about the grievances she suffered at ho, making Evan reluctantly agree.

Although those stories were exaggerated, they truly reflected her current situation.

She didn’t want to stay in that house any longer.

Since Evan had a dayti shift today, Hannah went directly to his place after arriving at the high-speed rail station.

She fumbled around in her backpack before finally finding the key. Upon opening the door, everything was as it always was.

A clean and tidy house with a faint herbal fragrance in the air, relieving people’s troubles and displeasure at heart.

Hannah looked at the white plush slippers placed by the door; they were obviously new.

She smiled, imdiately bent down to change into the slippers. They were a bit big, but it was nice of him to think of buying them for her.

Hannah dragged her suitcase into the house, placed it against the wall by the sofa, drank a large glass of water, caught her breath, and then took out her phone to text Evan.

He was probably busy and didn’t reply for quite a while.

Hannah nestled into the sofa and searched for job openings nearby on her phone, finding a cafe close to Evan’s hospital.

They were looking for temporary staff, working from noon to 5 p.m., with daily pay — exactly what Hannah was looking for.

Although the salary wasn’t high, she could earn so money without taking too much ti away from her studies.

Since it was so suitable, Hannah imdiately went out to the cafe and arranged her work schedule.

The cafe was just around the corner, a street away from where Evan worked at the hospital.

Since she was already here, Hannah couldn’t resist heading to the hospital.

It was peak ti at the hospital, bustling with people everywhere in the lobby.

Hannah went straight to the pediatrics departnt and found Evan’s office. She only stood at the doorway and peeked inside; Evan was back turned, busy prescribing and didn’t see her.

Hannah didn’t intrude, and just as she was leaving, Evan turned his chair to reach for so docunts on the shelf behind him and caught sight of her.

He looked surprised for a mont, and Hannah smiled at him. He gave her a signaling glance as if indicating her to head back.

Hannah obediently nodded, made a motion with two fingers to say she was leaving, and Evan didn’t respond further, continuing to communicate with the patient’s parents in front of him.

Although Evan was busy with work and didn’t have much ti to keep her company, Hannah felt much more at ease here than at ho.

She got back before five and lay on the sofa turning on the TV, searching for a completed Korean drama she hadn’t seen in a while.

Not even a few minutes into it, she watched a scene where the devoted wife had prepared a grand al, eagerly awaiting her husband to co ho.

With a sudden thought, Hannah sat up from the sofa and went to check the kitchen. It was clean, seemingly void of any lingering cooking oil scent.

She opened the fridge to find nothing but so frozen food and seasonings, no fresh fruits or vegetables.

Hannah rembered that every ti she visited before, Evan either ordered takeout or took her out to eat, never cooking at ho.

Looking at the fridge, it was evident he rarely ate at ho.

Though her cooking skills were not remarkable, she could manage to fry simple ho dishes.

With a spur of the mont decision, she grabbed her phone along with her little backpack and went to the downstairs supermarket.

Feeling that she only bought so vegetables and fruits, with just a small amount of at, two hundred bucks were gone.

After earning her own money, she realized how extravagant two hundred bucks were.

After Evan got off work, he ca straight ho; he had originally planned where to take Hannah for dinner that night.

Unexpectedly, the mont he opened the door, there was a sizzling sound coming from the kitchen.

He didn’t even bother changing his shoes and hurried into the kitchen, standing by the door watching Hannah frantically turning off the fire and coughing.

"What are you doing?"

Hannah was startled by the voice from behind. Seeing it was Evan, a hint of embarrassnt appeared on her face as she quickly covered the burnt egg in the pan with a lid, awkwardly laughingly saying, "...Cooking, it’ll be ready soon, you wait outside, I’ll call you when it’s done."

Evan wasn’t so easily dismissed; he stepped into the kitchen, looking at the unevenly cut potato shreds on the cutting board, the strangely colored stir-fried peppers with at, the burnt egg in the pan, and the tomatoes waiting in the plate beside.

"Can you cook?"

Hannah guiltily pursed her lips, saying, "...A little."

Seeing the disdain in Evan’s eyes, she defended herself a bit, saying, "It’s just not pretty; I tasted it earlier, and it doesn’t taste bad."
