Audrey Sutton sat in the downstairs living room with two of her sisters-in-law, discussing Norman Sutton’s affairs, when they saw him hastily coming down from upstairs, heading straight to the entrance.
Phoebe King teased, "Which sister-in-law are you taking shopping?"
Norman Sutton, standing at the entrance, picked up a coat from the rack and put it on, replying to Phoebe King irritably, "Mind your own business!"
Phoebe King said, "I’ve spent a lot of money in your live stream, and this is your attitude?"
Norman Sutton quickly put on his clothes, and while putting on his shoes, said, "Hmph! It’s my big brother’s money anyway!"
With that, he pushed the door open and left.
Hearing the sound of the car starting, Audrey Sutton smiled and said, "Let’s see what Lance Quincy can do."
Phoebe King grabbed a handful of sunflower seeds, cracking them as she said, "Quincy can only do so much. It still depends on the kid’s own luck."
Laura Yates nodded in agreent, "That’s right. Even if Lance helps match them, if Norman doesn’t watch his mouth, Lana will undoubtedly beco soone else’s bride."
Speaking of this, Laura Yates turned to Phoebe King and said, "Phoebe, you should eat less of these heat-inducing snacks, or mom will nag you again when she sees you later."
Phoebe King reluctantly put back the handful of sunflower seeds she just grabbed, muttering, "When I’m bored, I can’t stop munching."
Audrey Sutton jokingly asked, "Are you craving sothing sour or spicy?"
Phoebe King reached for the fruit plate by the table, popping two strawberries into her mouth, saying, "I want both, nothing beats a mix of sour and spicy."
Laura Yates joined in the teasing, "Could it be twins?"
Phoebe King said, "No way. Just taking care of Sumr alone left Teacher Sutton and exhausted from taking turns at night. If it’s twins, neither of us will get any sleep."
Audrey Sutton said, "I bet big brother hopes you’ll give him more kids."
Phoebe King snorted, "It’s not him giving birth, of course, he hopes for more."
...
The coffee shop was just at the end of the main road next to The Suttons’ villa, a two-minute drive away.
Norman Sutton parked the car by the roadside but didn’t get out imdiately.
He sat in the car, observing the inside of the coffee shop. Through the glass on the first floor, he saw Lance Quincy sitting in a booth by the window.
From this angle, only Lance Quincy was visible, so he couldn’t see if anyone was sitting across from him.
However, seeing him looking down at a magazine on the table without any intention of conversation, he concluded that Lance Quincy was likely alone in the booth.
After confirming this, Norman Sutton dismissed the thought that Lance Quincy was a scher, then pushed open the car door and got out.
Norman Sutton hadn’t given Lance Quincy any response before this, and it was already nearly twenty minutes past the agreed ti.
Yet Lance Quincy seed unbothered as he calmly perused the magazine, appearing confident that Norman Sutton would show up.
"Ahem—" Norman Sutton cleared his throat pretentiously, prompting Lance Quincy to look up and notice his arrival, and then he plopped down on the sofa opposite Lance Quincy.
Lance Quincy smiled, closed the magazine in his hand, and picked up the nu beside him, handing it to Norman Sutton, asking, "What would you like to drink?"
A coffee shop server imdiately approached the booth, waiting for instructions.
Norman Sutton glanced at the nu, didn’t bother to peruse its contents, and told the server, "I’ll have your most expensive item."
This way of ordering stiffened the smile on the server’s face. Lance Quincy, of course, saw that Norman Sutton was being difficult, yet he just nodded gracefully at the server, signaling them to comply, then asked Norman Sutton, "One serving enough?"
Norman Sutton reclined back on the sofa with an air of entitlent, lazily saying, "We’ll see after I finish."
After a brief exchange of glances between the server and Lance Quincy, they confird the order, drew the curtain around the booth, and walked away.
Reclining in his chair, Norman Sutton looked down his nose at Lance Quincy, asking, "My ti is precious, just tell what’s this about."
Lance Quincy lowered his head, picked up his teacup, sipped slowly, and said, "Lana’s going with to the art exhibit tomorrow, you rember that, right?"
Norman Sutton, "Hmph, what’s it got to do with ?"
Lance Quincy smiled and said, "I just want to confirm sothing."
Norman Sutton looked at Lance Quincy without a word, waiting for him to continue.
Seeing Lance Quincy leisurely put down his cup, he quietly asked, "Do you like her?"
Norman Sutton was initially startled, then sarcastically retorted, "You think I’d like her? Only you’re blind enough to fancy her."
Lance Quincy chuckled knowingly, and slowly said, "Then I can rest assured. I actually ca because Sister Phoebe asked to play a part, to pretend to be on a blind date with this young lady, supposedly to help soone realize their true feelings. I don’t know who that ’soone’ is. Honestly, I initially approached the girl with that attitude, hoping to facilitate a good match. But after getting to know her, I found she’s rather to my liking, highly skilled, obedient, well-mannered, and quite endearing."
Norman Sutton seed displeased hearing soone else knew Lana Holloway better than he did, and his dissatisfaction showed on his face.
Lance Quincy looked into Norman Sutton’s hostile eyes and continued, "Now it appears Sister Phoebe misunderstood. You seemingly don’t have any feelings for Lana. As they say, a forced lon isn’t sweet. Now that I’ve clarified your stance, there’s nothing to bla when the ti cos."
Norman Sutton, "Why are you telling all this?"
Lance Quincy smiled and said, "Oh, I find it rare to et a girl whose soul is in sync with mine, so I’m afraid of missing the chance. I plan to propose to Lana at the art exhibit tomorrow. I specifically asked for your opinion because I was entrusted by Sister Phoebe, and doing things rashly might upset everyone. Now that I’ve clarified things with you, I can confidently pursue Lana."
The more Norman Sutton listened, the more irked he felt. He reached into his coat pocket and fumbled around, pulling out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter, and started to smoke.
Lance Quincy deliberately said, "You seem quite agitated. Why is that?"
Norman Sutton replied irritably, "Why? Who wants to listen to your nonsense?!"
The server who ca to deliver the set al shivered slightly, the tray in hand trembling at Norman Sutton’s shout, stuttering when speaking, "S-sorry to interrupt."
The server cautiously placed the items from the tray in front of Norman Sutton, gulping, "P-please enjoy."
Norman Sutton, as if taking out his frustration, picked up the coffee closest to his hand and downed it as if it were plain water.
After drinking it all, he realized the coffee was unbearably bitter, worse than any herbal concoction his fifth brother had ever made.
Disregarding any manners, he picked up the cup he had just set down, spitting the coffee back into it, frowning in displeasure, "What in the world is this? Is this for human consumption?"
Lance Quincy smiled mildly, "When one is in a bad mood, anything seems unappealing."
