Audrey Sutton had long expected that Shane Warner would co back to question her after seeing the deduction information. She held her phone and responded with a smile: Bought you a birthday gift.
Shane Warner: Co on, my birthday is still more than half a year away.
Audrey Sutton was halfway through typing her reply when Shane Warner called through video.
Laura Yates, sitting beside her, saw it and said jealously, "Him calling again? How many tis has he called today?"
Audrey Sutton giggled, shifted slightly to the corner of the sofa, and adjusted her angle before answering the call.
Upon seeing Shane Warner on the other end, lounging naked in the bathtub, Audrey was relieved she had shifted to the corner before answering. She imdiately asked, "Are you alone?"
Shane Warner frowned, seemingly puzzled by Audrey’s question: "Who else? You’re not here."
Audrey Sutton let out a cold snort: "Isn’t it better that I’m not?"
Shane Warner: "Stop changing the subject. What did you need that two million for?"
Audrey Sutton glanced aside, smiling: "Went shopping today, bought bits here and there, and the money was gone in no ti."
Shane Warner wasn’t foolish and clearly saw that Audrey wasn’t telling the truth: "That deduction was one-ti, not bit by bit. Who did you use my money to buy a car for?"
Audrey Sutton giggled and played dumb: "Not telling you."
Shane Warner: "I’ll settle this with you once I’m back. Where’s my son?"
"Sleeping," Audrey replied, getting up from the sofa and switching to the rear cara. After a whirlwind mont, there was Anna sleeping peacefully in a cradle.
Shane Warner couldn’t help but comnt sarcastically: "He was sleeping when I called earlier, and he’s sleeping again now. How much sleep does he need?"
Audrey Sutton: "Haven’t you heard of ’spring nap autumn fatigue’? Isn’t it good that he’s sleeping quietly?"
Shane Warner: "When he’s asleep, no one disturbs you, right?"
Audrey Sutton rolled her eyes: "I’m at ho, and you still think all sorts of things. You’re out there; who knows what you’re doing or with whom."
Shane Warner: "When I’m not ho, you can bring soone over."
Initially, they were joking, but Shane suddenly turned serious and asked Audrey, annoyed, "What are those sounds there? Is soone else there?"
Audrey imdiately turned the cara toward Laura Yates and protested: "It’s my sister-in-law! You can’t seriously suspect , can you?! I’m furious!"
Seeing it was Laura, Shane instantly relaxed, almost believing he was getting cheated on: "Alright, I won’t talk to you anymore. Faye Xavier is urging outside."
Audrey Sutton furrowed her brows and asked, "What’s he urging you for? Where are you going so late?"
Shane placed his phone on the bathtub’s shelf, the cara pointing at the ceiling.
Audrey heard the sound of Shane stepping out of the tub. Then, through a weird cara angle, she saw his arm reaching for the bath towel. He then said, "Of course, to discuss business."
Audrey pouted, gloomily saying: "Which lovely lady are you eting? You even washed up fragrantly before heading out."
Shane Warner: "Ho has lovely ladies; where are they outside?"
Audrey Sutton: "I’ve noticed you’ve been hanging out with Brother Xavier too much. You’re starting to sound as slippery as him."
Shane Warner: "You’re truly hard to please. If I don’t talk, I’m called a dull straight guy. Say a bit more, and I’m labeled smooth-tongued."
Audrey Sutton snorted: "Now you’re both — a smooth-tongued, dull straight guy."
Shane Warner put on his bathrobe and picked up the phone again, with the cara showing him fresh out of the bath, robe slightly open, hair wet with droplets occasionally trickling down.
Audrey Sutton, even at ho, had seen him like this many tis but never got tired of it.
Her face slightly flushed as she said: "Alright, go and stay busy, and rest early after you’re done."
Shane Warner: "Mm, you should sleep early too. When Anna is asleep, seize the chance to sleep. When he’s awake, you won’t get to rest."
Audrey Sutton: "Got it. By the way, when will you be back?"
Shane Warner: "Tomorrow night’s flight."
Audrey Sutton: "I have a plan. I’ll tell you when you’re back. I’ll hang up now."
She heard Shane Warner respond "Mm," but his phone was still in place until she hung up — as if he couldn’t bear to miss even a second.
Laura Yates teased after Audrey hung up: "You two are really alike; both big jars of jealousy."
Audrey Sutton smiled coyly: "He’s the jealous one over . I’m not jealous over him."
Laura Yates playfully countered: "Oh? I heard from Phoebe about your first eting; you...
"Right." Audrey quickly changed the topic as Laura was about to reveal so secrets: "I’ll call Sister Phoebe to see if she’s done eating and invite her over for a movie."
However, Phoebe King ntioned they were still out dining with so of Stephen Sutton’s old classmates and wouldn’t be back soon.
Before long, Franklin Sutton ca to pick up Laura Yates and her baby.
Audrey Sutton took Anna upstairs, washed up with Vanessa, and laid down on the bed.
The two hadn’t seen each other for a while, and so much had happened recently. It was impossible to fall asleep right away.
Audrey Sutton voiced all her doubts, most curious about why Miles Sterling changed so quickly.
However, even Vanessa herself hadn’t figured it out yet.
"So what’s your plan going forward, Vanessa?"
Vanessa contemplated a bit and said: "Besides painting, I don’t have any skills. I should continue with my artwork."
Audrey Sutton: "I think you should finish the works you started. Those fans who know you’ve ’co back to life’ will probably go mad with joy."
Vanessa chuckled, though there was a hint of concern in her expression.
Audrey noticed it and asked: "Are you worried Miles will cause you more trouble?"
Vanessa nodded, sharing her thoughts: "He’s always unpredictable. Maybe his words the other day were sincere, but they might change by tomorrow."
This was sothing that worried Audrey too, but she pondered and said: "I believe Dr. Jennings, having helped Miles make such a decision, must have so talents. And Miles seems to have made so progress with her help. At least, he’s willing to let you go — sothing he wouldn’t have considered before. So I think we should trust that Dr. Jennings can truly cure Miles of his problems."
