In the classroom, Evan Sutton sat next to Hannah Sue’s desk, looking at the neatly stacked textbooks and stationery, clearly tidied up ticulously for this parent-teacher eting.
No wonder the little girl cried. Seeing the desk so neatly arranged, she likely hoped soone would attend the eting on her behalf.
Evan Sutton couldn’t help but, like other parents nearby, flip through Hannah Sue’s textbooks, howork, and exam papers.
The exam papers seed to be organized according to the teacher’s instructions, with every test paper stacked together, placed in the most prominent position on the desk.
Evan Sutton roughly looked them over. Although the grades weren’t remarkable, compared to before when passing was difficult for Hannah Sue, achieving slightly above average was already a significant improvent.
Moreover, he noted that most of Hannah Sue’s mistakes were due to carelessness.
The problems he had explained to her were mostly correct, showing she had put in so effort herself.
The notes in her textbooks were also neatly written, except in the history book where there were many funny little drawings, presumably sketched by Hannah Sue when she was distracted in class.
Evan Sutton was just thinking of talking to her about it later when he suddenly turned a page and found the na "Evan Sutton" written in large decorative letters.
He was montarily stunned, then sighed and wrote a small note beneath those words: "No daydreaming in class."
He truly understood Hannah Sue’s little thoughts, but he didn’t take them too seriously.
After all, Hannah Sue was still young, her maturity not yet ford, and her understanding of affection and love was too simplistic.
So he had always avoided the issue, just treating Hannah Sue as a little sister, guiding her to study properly and not stray off the right path.
He thought that once Hannah Sue grew older and her ideas and aspirations changed, so of her notions might naturally fade away.
After the eting, many parents took the initiative to find the horoom teacher to learn about their child’s situation at school.
Evan Sutton hadn’t planned to do this, as he felt he understood Hannah Sue’s nature well enough and didn’t need to inquire from the teacher.
Unexpectedly, the horoom teacher called him over: "Hannah’s brother, co here, I have a few words to share with you."
Evan Sutton walked toward the podium, where several other parents were also gathered around.
The horoom teacher smiled and said, "The last three months are crucial, not just for the school, but for parents too, who need to supervise their children well and not slack off."
One eager parent asked, "Teacher, how is my child, Xiao Zhi, doing in school?"
"Xiao Zhi, huh, he’s a smart kid. He ranks in the top ten of the grade every ti, and I frequently praise him in class, encouraging others to learn from him."
That parent seed pleased to hear this, smiling broadly.
Those surrounding the podium were mostly parents of students ranking at the top of the class, each subtly boasting and comparing their children’s achievents.
Evan Sutton simply listened quietly, standing for several minutes before the horoom teacher addressed him: "Hannah’s brother, is this your first ti attending Hannah’s parent-teacher eting? It seed like it was always Hannah’s mom before, but she would go to Grace’s class, so I never had a chance to chat with her."
Evan Sutton nodded and said, "It’s the sa if you tell what’s up, teacher."
"Hannah has shown quite a transformation. She used to be quite a handful, but since last year, she’s suddenly beco obedient, listens well in class, and her grades have improved significantly."
Evan Sutton was aware of these changes in Hannah Sue, but hearing the teacher’s praise, his smile still carried an involuntary hint of pride.
"Her attitude toward learning is there, and her recent exam scores have been pretty good too. However, it seems like Hannah is sowhat introverted and doesn’t interact well with her classmates. I hope you can guide her at ho."
Evan Sutton just nodded but didn’t quite agree with the teacher’s assessnt.
Hannah Sue wasn’t introverted; rather, it was likely because Grace led others in isolating her at school before, which made it so no one dared to befriend her. It seed like those who got close to her were considered odd by others.
This situation probably could only improve once Hannah Sue endured the last three months and changed environnts.
But now, she’s more mature than before, less affected by others’ words, and has her own goals to strive for, no longer living in the shadows others created for her.
The teacher chatted with Evan Sutton for ten minutes or so, exchanging mostly polite small talk.
As Evan Sutton walked out of the classroom, he saw Hannah Sue waiting for him in the corridor outside.
She couldn’t hide the smile in her eyes, and, jogging up to him, quietly asked, "What did you talk to my teacher about? You seed to talk for quite a while."
"Asking if you’ve been behaving in school."
"Didn’t say anything bad about , did they? I’ve been seriously studying recently!"
Evan Sutton nodded and said, "Yes, they ntioned you’ve been quite diligent lately. Just work hard in the last three months; your current grades still have so way to go to reach the university I went to."
Hannah Sue couldn’t help but ask, "Were you a top student before?"
Evan Sutton: "At least smarter than you."
Hannah Sue suddenly shifted the topic and asked, "I bet a lot of girls pursued you, right? Have you ever been confessed to by girls? Did you receive many love letters?"
Evan Sutton glanced at her and retorted, "I just heard the teacher say your classmate Xiao Zhi was first in class this ti, a top student too. Did you pursue him or write him love letters?"
Hannah Sue made a face like she was about to vomit: "He’s so arrogant, plus he’s not as handso as you, I’d be crazy to pursue him. I find him annoying whenever I see him."
Then Hannah Sue mischievously smiled and said, "If it were you, I’d definitely chase you. I often think it would be great if you were the sa age as and we went to school together."
As Evan Sutton walked downstairs, he said, "Then I probably wouldn’t get into college."
Hannah Sue stepped down one step behind him, asking, "Why?"
Evan Sutton: "With such a botherso person pestering every day, I probably wouldn’t have the mind to study."
Hannah Sue frowned, a bit hurt, and asked, "Do you find botherso?"
Evan Sutton: "Not anymore."
Hannah Sue imdiately broke into a smile: "I think if you were my classmate, I’d definitely strive to be like you."
Evan Sutton teased lightly, "So, you’re saying your current grades are my fault?"
Hannah Sue chuckled, "You’d at least be a third to bla. But my current grades are pretty good; I’m at least in the top 150 of the grade."
Evan Sutton: "Let put it this way, your class’s first place barely passed my school’s admission line."
Hannah Sue: "..."
