In the evening, Vanessa Sterling went to a nearby supermarket to buy so fruits and vegetables. On her way back, as she passed the bridge spanning both banks,
she cast her gaze out the window and noticed the back of a man with a cane appearing in her view.
Seeing that back made Vanessa’s heart skip a beat.
The car swiftly passed by, and Vanessa turned her head to look back, only to finally see the man’s face. As expected, it was Miles Sterling.
It seed to be the first ti Vanessa saw him after his accident.
The car went by too quickly for Vanessa to get a clear view.
She just felt that Miles had lost a lot of weight, and the shirt he wore seed a bit loose, fluttering in the wind.
Vanessa withdrew her gaze and also her thoughts.
She felt that being like this was quite good, forgetting the past was redemption for both Miles and herself.
She even thought that being able to lose those mories was a blessing from above.
If she could, she wished she could also forget those dark, despairing monts that took her breath away whenever recalled.
Miles Sterling stood on the bridge, feeling as though he had been to these places before. But every bridge seed similar, and he wasn’t sure if he had really been here.
Gwen Grant sent a ssage again, asking if Miles planned to co ho for dinner.
Miles looked at the riverside and told her his current location.
He felt like searching like this was akin to finding a needle in a haystack. But besides this, he didn’t know where else to go to see that girl again.
Or perhaps this obsession was a mistake to begin with; maybe that girl truly had nothing to do with his past.
After all, according to the past that Gwen described, such a girl indeed never appeared.
A few minutes later, Gwen drove over and found Miles standing by the bridge.
"Miles."
Upon hearing Gwen’s voice, Miles ca back to his senses, turned around, walked to the car, opened the back door, and got in.
Gwen started the car, looking at Miles through the rearview mirror with a smile, and softly asked, "Do you feel better after a bit of fresh air?"
"Hmm." Miles gave a perfunctory response and then turned his head to look out the car window.
"What would you like for dinner? Should we stop by the supermarket to pick up sothing?"
Miles paused for a mont and said, "Let’s just go back. I’m a bit tired."
Gwen glanced at Miles’s expression in the mirror and nodded in agreent, saying, "Then let’s just have sothing casual tonight. Get so rest early, as we have to visit the hospital again tomorrow morning for a check-up."
Miles just stared out the window without responding, which was as good as confirming the arrangent.
After Miles’s condition improved, Wendy Jennings, eager to have grandchildren, moved the two into the marital ho.
Gwen originally thought this opportunity could enhance their relationship, possibly even leading to them consummating the marriage. Then, even if Miles regained his mory, he wouldn’t be entangled with Vanessa because of a child.
Unexpectedly, on the first night Miles moved in, he relocated to the guest room.
Not only did they fail to share a room as she had hoped, but Miles beca even more reclusive. Besides going out for walks, he locked himself in his room.
Initially, Gwen was worried, fearing that Miles might have recalled sothing, which is why his character had changed so drastically.
It was only after consulting a psychologist that she learned it was because Miles couldn’t rember anything, and that’s why he was displaying such manic anxiety and reluctance to communicate with others.
She just needed to accompany him through this period slowly, and with ti, even if Miles never rembered, he would eventually co to terms with it.
