Miles Sterling locked himself in the room, unaware that Vanessa Sterling once lived here, so he didn’t plan on looking for any traces of Vanessa in the house.
Before he found Vanessa, he thought that looking for her on the streets every day was at least a way to pass the ti.
But now that he knows where Vanessa is, he doesn’t dare to look for her anymore.
Because when he quieted down to think, he felt that Vanessa probably didn’t want him to disturb her.
He has lost all his mories, and the only fragnts he can recall now are about Vanessa.
From this, he deduced that Vanessa must be a very important person to him. Before seeing her, he thought he was also very important to Vanessa.
That’s why he was so eager to find Vanessa before.
But after their eting today, the image that lingers in his mind is Vanessa’s face filled with surprise and fear when she saw him.
She was clearly afraid of him.
Later, she even denied having known him, indicating she didn’t want to continue the story of their past.
What happened in the past that made Vanessa so fearful of him, and even want to avoid him?
Miles couldn’t find an answer.
After knowing his and Gwen Grant’s wedding was covered in the news, Miles searched online for many news articles related to him.
Aside from the marriage news with Gwen, most of them were about him having affairs with different girls.
Now, he seems to understand why Cynthia Ramsey called him a "playboy".
Miles couldn’t imagine that he used to be like this, but the photos and na in the news were indeed his.
He read through many similar news articles, each featuring different girls, but none were about Vanessa.
"Knock knock—" The door was knocked, and a man’s deep voice ca from outside: "Miles? I heard you ca back?"
This voice, Miles had heard while he was in the hospital.
It was his uncle, Quentin Sterling.
After being discharged, he hadn’t seen Quentin since. Reflecting on the brief interactions in the hospital, Quentin seed to be a gentle and stable person.
With a hint of skepticism, Miles opened the door for Quentin.
As soon as the door opened, Wendy Jennings was also outside.
"Son, have you had breakfast yet? Mom prepared breakfast for you downstairs. Would you like to eat down there, or should mom have it sent up?"
Those lies told by Gwen, Wendy had always been the one to help cover them up.
So Miles now didn’t trust this woman who claid to be his mother.
Miles ignored Wendy’s question and simply said to Quentin, "I have sothing to ask you."
Quentin paused for a mont, smiled, and said, "I haven’t had breakfast either. Why don’t we go downstairs and talk while eating?"
Miles was indeed a bit hungry, so he picked up the cane leaning against the doorfra and walked downstairs on his own.
Wendy tried to assist him, but Miles snapped coldly, "Don’t touch ."
"Alright, alright, mom won’t touch you. Go down slowly."
Miles didn’t respond and continued his way downstairs.
Quentin wanted to follow, but Wendy grabbed his arm.
Once Miles was further away, Wendy lowered her voice and said to Quentin, "Chase, you know Wilder’s situation. He seems to have rembered sothing and might want to ask you about it. Whatever you do, don’t ntion that person in front of Wilder. Convince him to live well with Gwen."
