Walking around the long corridor, Miles Sterling discovered several paintings by Vanessa Sterling.
The content of the paintings was similar to those jigsaw puzzles, all landscapes.
Magnificent mountains and rivers, babbling brooks, or the rising sun over the sea...
Looking at these paintings, and recalling that rainy night when Vanessa got off the man’s car with the drawing board, Miles couldn’t help but wonder if these landscapes were scenes they had witnessed together while going out to sketch?
He suddenly felt sowhat envious, his mind beginning to imagine scenes of watching the landscapes with Vanessa.
Miles reached the exhibition hall on the second floor and found many people gathered in front of a huge painting, discussing it enthusiastically.
He couldn’t resist approaching for a closer look. Though he didn’t see Vanessa’s signature at first glance, he recognized her style imdiately.
Another landscape painting, accompanied by an introduction beside it, titled "Freedom."
The colors and lighting in the painting were perfectly composed, making one feel as if they were within the scene, creating an imrsive experience.
Everyone was focused on admiring the beautiful scenery depicted, but few noticed the butterfly with tattered wings hidden among the flowers in the corner.
For so reason, seeing this butterfly caused an inexplicable ache in Miles’ heart.
Listening to the endless praise from others for the painting, Miles couldn’t help but wonder what state of mind Vanessa was in while creating this painting and why she nad it "Freedom."
Was the butterfly in the painting a true reflection of herself?
As he pondered, he suddenly heard a man’s voice nearby saying, "Teacher Sheffield, these paintings are really stunning, especially the one signed with the butterfly shape."
Hearing the voice, Miles looked over and saw that the man called "Teacher Sheffield" was the one who had been frequently seen around Vanessa recently.
"Teacher Sheffield, who is this artist? It seems I haven’t seen them in previous exhibitions. Is it your student?"
Richard Sheffield chuckled lightly and said, "No, she’s more like a friend of mine. She’ll be coming on stage to introduce herself soon, and you’ll know who she is then."
On the other side of the corridor, Audrey Sutton was holding Laura Yates’ hand as they walked upstairs, moving towards where the crowd was gathered.
As they walked over, Miles happened to leave in the opposite direction.
Because Miles was wearing a hat and mask, Audrey didn’t recognize him at first. It was only after they passed each other that she glanced back at him twice and then whispered to Laura Yates, "That person looks like Miles Sterling."
Laura turned back to look and said, "It might really be him. Vanessa is here for the event; he might have followed her."
Audrey sighed, "After hearing Miss Jennings analyze Miles’ psychology, I now feel like he’s had a tough life."
"I guess it’s true that even the most hateful people have sothing pitiable about them. But regardless, the harm he caused Vanessa is real, and it must be hard to nd their relationship from her perspective."
"Yeah, but I’ve heard he lost his mory. He doesn’t rember a lot of things, which is probably a good thing for him."
Laura said worriedly, "I’m actually quite afraid. If Old Man Sheffield really pursues Vanessa and Miles regains his mory by then—given Miles’ possessiveness—it’s hard to say if he might cause trouble."
Audrey paused for a mont and said, "I trust Miss Jennings. She said even if Miles regains his mory, he probably wouldn’t force Vanessa anymore. Besides, didn’t he change quite a bit before he lost his mory? If he regains it, his mindset might change and he might learn to let go."
