The Chamber of Comrce’s main entrance was in chaos by now, with many custors and rchants from out of town forming a crowd, murmuring among themselves.
In the middle, suppressed groans of pain could be heard.
Mu Hanyan and others squeezed into the crowd and after seeing the scene inside, they clenched their fists tightly.
Ma Liu and Zheng Qing were lying on the ground, curled up, their bodies covered in blood, their limbs twisted at unnatural angles—clearly, they had been severely beaten by soone.
Huayue and Zirong frowned. They were by no ans kind-hearted, but they always held back a bit when they struck. Whoever had injured Ma Liu and Zheng Qing, however, had been even more ruthless than them.
"What cruel ans, who would do such a thing without restraint?" soone in the crowd whispered.
"I don’t know, probably a rival of the Nanyan Chamber of Comrce. I heard that the day before yesterday, so people from Nanyan Chamber of Comrce were also beaten and are still bedridden, recovering," another person quietly responded.
"Who knows what Nanyan Chamber of Comrce did to deserve such retribution?" a young man said, his voice tremulous.
"Who knows? The business world is like a battlefield. You’re young and haven’t seen much. I’ve seen two chambers of comrce fight over business, resulting in bloodshed and ruin. Compared to that, this is nothing," an older man explained.
"Don’t let the seeming prosperity of the Nanyan Chamber of Comrce fool you; it’s actually fraught with crisis. It’s hard to predict what the end will be," a rchant from far away remarked.
"We should also be careful. The opponent is so ruthless; they might target us next," another worried voice ntioned.
"That shouldn’t happen," the young man from before responded.
"What do you know? Nanyan Chamber of Comrce is now the leading chamber in Heishi City. If others dare to harm their people, what’s stopping them from dealing with us? If Nanyan Chamber of Comrce is defeated and driven out of Heishi City, that’s one thing; but if they hold out, using us to make a point wouldn’t be surprising," the man spoke dismissively.
Hearing this, everyone around showed signs of worry.
They had co from far, hoping to benefit from the Chamber’s success. Yet now, even the Nanyan Chamber of Comrce seed unstable, forcing them to consider their own safety.
"Who did this?" Mu Hanyan asked, feeling a sinking in his heart upon hearing the whispers in the crowd.
"Just asked. It was Yuan Tianbo’s guard leader," Housekeeper Sun responded.
"Is there any evidence?" Mu Nan inquired.
"No, but Ma Liu and Zheng Qing saw it with their own eyes, they can’t be wrong," Housekeeper Sun said through gritted teeth.
Mu Nan hesitated. He had known Ma Liu and Zheng Qing for a long ti and trusted their character, but without evidence, it was difficult to seek justice for them.
Rules must be followed for order to exist. The Holy Court Continent had its own set of rules, from the largest countries to the smallest towns, all must act according to the rules.
"Let’s go get justice for them," Mu Nan was still hesitating when he heard Mu Hanyan speak resolutely.
"But, without evidence, this goes against the rules. How would we explain it to Lord City Master?" Mu Nan said hesitantly.
"Evidence? Don’t forget who I am. I am a playboy, the top playboy of Heishi City. Since when do I need evidence or rules for what I do?" Mu Hanyan said with a careless laugh, his arrogance unmistakable, truly displaying the face of a playboy. Does a playboy need a reason to strike? Are you kidding ?
