Gu Chaoyan frowned. She truly had no intention of having any words with Mrs. Duke North. However, the corner of her eyes reached Zheng Chenyi in bed, and she nodded finally. “Okay.”
She put down the teacup and walked out of the room with Mrs. Duke North. Zhou Huaijin threw a worried look at Gu Chaoyan.
Zheng Chenyi said with a smile, “Don’t worry, my mom is friendly. She is asking Lady Chaoyan out because she thought we have something important to talk about.”
Zhou Huaijin nodded and felt assured.
Actually, he did not have anything more to share with Zheng Chenyi, but as Mrs. Duke North was mentioned, he still reminded him. “Mrs. Duke North is having a difficult time these years, so don’t let her worry when you are on your feet again in the future. You are old enough to get married, do that first and leave some offspring for Duke North’s Mansion, so your mom can be assured.”
Zhou Huaijin was slightly older than Zheng Chenyi, and because of Duke North, he was telling Zheng Chenyi all of this, just like a brother.
Zheng Chenyi understood that Zhou Huaijin was being nice to him, but he still felt quite distressed. He did have someone he liked, but he was unable to say anything, as that girl was marrying someone else. So what was the point of marrying someone else?

Outside the room.
Mrs. Duke North did not make a big effort to prepare a room, but spoke to Gu Chaoyan as they were standing in the yard. “Lady Chaoyan, please forget what I said yesterday.”
“We are not doing very well these years, I have had a hard time raising Yichen, so I always think a lot when something es up, so I may have hurt some people along the way. Blame me if you want to, but don’t be angry at Yichen. Yichen does need Lord Huai’s help.” Mrs. Duke North said.
Mrs. Duke North had demeaned herself when she spoke to her in this way, but that did not please Gu Chaoyan. She was not pleased at all. She would rather that Mrs. Duke North forgot what happened yesterday after getting her the jewelry.
Why... Why did she have to get suspected? Did this madam think that she was a very narrow-minded person?
Gu Chaoyan was in a terrible mood now. Even for the sake of the son and the father, she could not force a smile.
Standing in front of her, she said calmly, “Don’t worry, I won’t blame anyone else, do you have anything more to say? If not, I am leaving!”
Mrs. Duke North hestated. She was about to say something, but Gu Chaoyan was already gone.
She wondered if she had said something terrible just now or if she had said something with a bad tone? She had clearly not forgiven her. She felt regretful again. She regretted that she had done a terrible job. Otherwise the result might have been better.
Luckily, she promised not to blame Yichen for it. Then that would be fine. She could take something from the storage and add onto her dowries for her. That might make her happy...

Gu Chaoyan returned to her original seat without saying anything as she walked into the room.
She took a sip of the cooled tea, but did not frown.
Zhou Huaijin felt that something was going on.
