"What a pity, a pair of twins!"
The sleazy voice beside him made Huck turn his head to look at the three figures about to disappear at the end of the corridor.
He certainly knew what the so-called "pity" ant.
The speaker was called Hand Axe, an ugly man with a centipede-like scar across his face, cut open by an iron hook during a caravan raid years ago.
Years of heavy drinking had stained his face. When he laughed with his missing front teeth, the two hand axes slung over his leather armor would jostle along with his belly.
But even with his out-of-shape body, he was still a desperado in battle, daring to use Frenzy, swinging his axes into a whirlwind.
He just didn’t have much sense, always thinking about his two ounces of flesh, not even considering the situation now, still acting like a bandit...
Huck sneaked a glance at Viscount Louisa walking in the middle of the group. This tall vampire seed not to have heard Hand Axe’s complaints, or perhaps she heard but didn’t care?
In his heart, he cursed Hand Axe. In the end, if it weren’t for Hand Axe and a few guys going berserk and killing that Baron’s daughter, they wouldn’t have been forced by a high bounty to escape to the Hermit Empire, let alone participate in such obviously dangerous actions, really thinking he fancied the so-called immortality?
Only those who live long enough can talk about immortality, having longevity but getting slaughtered in turn doesn’t count as immortality worth a damn!
Unfortunately, circumstances were beyond their control; from the mont they relied on the vampires, they had no choice.
Beside him, Hand Axe took out a small box from his pocket and poured out a stinky grey-white pill, swallowing it down in one gulp.
Huck recognized what it was, a Silent Death Potion made from Mourning Lily, he had so in his pocket too.
Long-term use allows the body to closer resemble the dead, considered a necessary step before being transford into a half-vampire.
Hand Axe, this guy, really took to heart the Viscount’s promise of successfully completing the task and being transford into a half-vampire, truly...
Huck also took out a Silent Death Potion and swallowed it down...
Suddenly, an axe spun past in front of him, making Huck stop in his tracks.
"Hand Axe?" Huck’s voice was suppressed with irritation.
The axe went through the fighting Puki and Sli not far away, perfectly double-killing them before flying back into Hand Axe’s hand.
"Why are you so quiet, pretending to be a master, hahaha—"
Hand Axe’s unabashed laughter made everyone turn their heads to glance at him, even the Viscount wasn’t an exception.
Huck didn’t find it funny at all, just wanted to use a Wind Blade to slice that ugly face!
He quickly distanced himself from Hand Axe, and behind him ca muttering, "Tch, can’t take a joke."
Aside from this guy with a screw loose, the others were more reliable, now discussing the unusualness of this Underground City.
"Wasn’t it said that each level of the Purple Crystal Dungeon has a different ecology? Why is it that there are Puki all the way, and they’re mutated kinds too?"
"I was here six years ago, it wasn’t like this then."
"Heard there was a Demon Tide before, maybe it’s the influence of it."
"It’s...so dark here..."
Huck looked around, indeed.
All along were fungal mats, glowing mushrooms, mutated Puki, regardless of the stratum’s ecology, they could be seen, quite a large portion too.
This situation peaked when they stepped onto the fifth floor.
Plop—
A strange sensation ca from underfoot.
Lighting Technique!
"What’s this?"
Under the orange-yellow glow, they saw thick fungal mats beneath their feet, each step lifting a slimy patch.
"Disgusting!"
Soone scrapped at their shoe sole in disgust, only to scrape more onto it.
"Look at this!" Hand Axe suddenly called out.
Huck turned back to see Hand Axe hooking away the fungal mat under his feet, revealing an inconspicuous...disc-shaped stone?
Huck felt sothing was wrong, if it was stone, this was too regular...
"Look, it’s soft!"
Hand Axe kicked at the disc twice, feeling it springy, satisfying to kick.
Then he stamped down with his foot—
Huck watched as the disc under Hand Axe’s foot suddenly exploded, blowing away a layer of dirt.
"Ah—"
Amid Hand Axe’s heart-wrenching scream, several dark figures jumped out from around, rushing towards him.
Even though Hand Axe was an annoying guy, it wouldn’t do to let him die in vain like this.
Tier Three Magic—Wind Surge!
A gust blew away the rushing figures, barely allowing Huck to identify them.
"Puki!?"
They’re mimicked Puki!
The blasted away Puki exploded before hitting the ground, fortunately not hurting others.
"Watch out! These Puki are hiding underground!" soone warned.
Huck looked at the holes left by the Puki on the ground and then at the endless fungal mat field ahead—could the whole way be like this?
"Ah! My leg!"
Hand Axe’s miserable scream pulled Huck’s attention back, only then he noticed, this scoundrel was done, his right leg below the knee got blown off!
Thinking about it, the idiot stomped his whole foot directly into the source of the explosion, rather skin is thick that he didn’t end up more dismbered.
Huck hesitated, should he use the Healing Potion he had on him, but looking at him in this state, he seed hard to be of any more use in the battle afterward.
"What’s that in the sky?" soone asked, pointing upwards.
Against the backdrop of dod fluorescence, small black dots were approaching in the air, seemingly so kind of flying demon, the M-shaped wings looked familiar...
"Bats?" Huck thought they indeed resembled bats commonly seen on Blood Race territories.
But why were these bats so fat?
Getting closer, the true appearance ca into view.
"It’s Puki again!"
With earlier lessons, now no one dared let the Puki get close again.
Magic Bow and Arrows were all sent flying; these flying Puki weren’t fast, making them easy targets, each falling after being struck...
Bang—
"Damn! Don’t let them fly overhead! Huck, blow them away!"
With teammates cursing and directing, Huck decided not to use Wind Blade, focusing on using Wind Surge to blow the falling Puki far away, finally preventing them from being hit by the explosions.
But—
"How many damn Puki are there?"
The sky was filled with small black dots bouncing towards them, making Huck’s scalp tingle.
Even if they exhausted all magic power and arrows, they wouldn’t take down this many Puki?
"Let’s...let’s fall back first!"
Huck loudly suggested, anyway the stairs weren’t far, he wanted to regroup before dealing with these strange Puki.
"No need."
Viscount Louisa, who had been coldly observing the situation, suddenly spoke!
Seeing her casually reach out, Hand Axe’s scream suddenly beca more agonizing, blood gushed from his severed limb, converging into a Blood Ball in Louisa’s hand.
Then the blood exploded into countless threads shooting into the sky, precisely piercing one Puki after another.
Each Blood Line’s attack wasn’t very powerful, but the Puki coincidentally had little Life Value, whether she saw through this...
After one strike, Louisa’s Blood Ball depleted, and the Puki fell from the sky like dumplings, leaving only a few stragglers picked off by the archers.
It seed their crisis was temporarily alleviated?
Huck glanced at the already mummified Hand Axe—looks like he didn’t have to ponder wasting a Healing Potion.
